Representing Hakvoort’s largest motor yacht built to date, the 63.72m (209’) superyacht SCOUT has been delivered to her proud American owners, leaving Amsterdam on the 16th April 2019. The yacht features striking timeless exterior lines and elegant interiors, both designed by H2 Yacht Design. SCOUT is the new flagship of the shipyard, spreading 11.6 metres in a beam with a draft of 3.36m, offering great spaces on board with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design.

Constructed for an accomplished yachtsman, the shipyard, owner’s team and designers closely cooperated on creating SCOUT’s bespoke exterior design and interiors, resulting in a significant vintage maritime aesthetic that respects the owners’ authentic vision.

“The client was closely involved throughout the whole process and had a very clear idea of what aesthetic he was looking for both inside and out,” explains Jonny Horsfield, Founder of H2 Yacht Design in London. “The overall interior aesthetic can best be described as Jules Verne meets Ian Fleming meets Fritz Lang. We were inspired by the underwater world, sea creatures, and this industrial, nautical design philosophy – with a hint of a Bond villain’s lair.”

The exterior feature a unique high bow with exposed tenders in the bow with cut-down bulwarks and incorporated forward leaning windows. The yacht features fabulous attention to detail with everything on the yacht styled to achieve a perfect harmony of the design philosophy. The main style is industrial, with onboard elements such as the industrial-style stairs, heavy looking bolts running through the exterior or the exterior bar area on the man deck that was inspired by the engine room vents.

Great level of attention has also been applied to her interior areas: adds Horsfield: “Inside, the design is a little off-the-wall – we’ve never done anything like this before. The main saloon is a particular talking point with a huge bespoke polished nickel coffee table sat below an interactive LCD ceiling that mirrors the outside environment. Throughout the corridors, we have pulsing, flashing lights in the ceilings which is a nod to the pulsing lights of the power source of the submarine in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Each guest cabin is styled the same with a different theme, and down to the door handles which look like repurposed cleats, everything is true to SCOUT’s design philosophy.”

“The owner didn’t want a regular white boat, and we’ve really stood up to the challenge of creating a very unique vessel. The owner challenged all of us at the studio and the yard to think outside of the box, and the result is one of the most interesting projects of my career.”

SCOUT is fitted with two Caterpillar 3512C Diesel engines, reaching a top speed o 14.8 knots with a cruising speed of 12.5 knots. She has an ICE CLASS hull and an autonomous range of 4,800 nautical miles at 12 knots with great ocean-keeping.

In addition to this exciting new delivery and with 2019 marking Hakvoort’s 100th birthday, the shipyard is also proud to announce the signing of a contract for a new 61m superyacht as well as additional two yachts currently under build.
