The Dutch builder Hakvoort is currently working on the 61m motor yacht hull YN248, due to be completed in 2015. The largest luxury vessel ever built by this shipyard, the hull YN248 superyacht boasts both exterior as well as interior by Sinot Yacht Design, while her naval architecture, construction and engineering design are by Diana Yacht Design, which has been given the brief to optimise technical accessibility and keep maintenance requirements to a minimum.

In addition to being the largest yacht, the 61m superyacht hull YN248 has also been one of the fastest projects ever to materialise at Hakvoort. Only four weeks separated the initial contacts from the approval of the detailed drawings.

Luxury yacht hull YN248 features a carefully considered balance of indoor and outdoor spaces. One of the most striking features is the positioning of the four guest suites and VIP stateroom on the main deck, ensuring that all guests have superb views. The main deck is also home to a large dining room and lounge, with the owners’ accommodation housed on a dedicated private deck above. This extra deck comprises the master stateroom forward with two bathrooms, a master study and a bar with sky lounge.

Above, there is the bridge deck with wheelhouse and a range of facilities for the captain, with the rest of the crew also being very well catered for on the lower deck. In addition to four crew cabins forward, there is an additional cabin on the lower deck for a nanny, pilot or masseur. The latter one is undoubtedly impressive, featuring the dedicated massage room and the lower deck also features a hammam and a steam shower in the spacious lazarette. Two large tenders can be found both port and starboard. And with an eight-metre swimming pool on the sun deck, this is clearly going to be a magnificent superyacht in every sense.

“The client had a clear idea of what he wanted for his new boat, including the length, and knew that very few premium yards are dedicated to creating yachts in this size bracket,” explains the yard’s director Albert Hakvoort Senior. “Taking quality and price into account, he found the choice of Hakvoort an obvious one.”

The order came on the heels of the recent completion of an expansion of the yard’s construction hall, increasing its capacity to yachts up to63 metres. “We saw a gap in the premium market for boats between 30 and 65 metres, and decided to fill it,” Hakvoort explains. “Some people expressed surprise when we started investing in new facilities in the current economic climate but we have always been confident about the future of this yard  based on our track record and the satisfaction of our clients.”
