The 42m sailing yacht VIJONARA took home the 2019 Neptune Award for Best Sailing Yacht at the World Superyacht Awards. This Modern Classic yacht was designed by Hoek Design and built by Pendennis Shipyard.
The judges commented: “VIJONARA exuded the charm and character, as well as a sense of luxurious comfort that one might expect in a great classic yacht.” They also mentioned that “welcoming accommodation areas” and the twin cockpit layout were crucial factors in selecting VIJONARA as the winner in the “Best Sailing Yacht 30m to 59.9m” category.
She is the second yacht in the Truly Classic 128 series by Andre Hoek with a launch in 2018. Her owners took thorough consideration of technical and design aspects, as they have experienced both yacht ownership and chartering. As noted by the Judges, VIJONARA has excellent performance capabilities, especially under sail and in lighter breezes.
One of the owners’ requirements was to add a bowsprit, which created a lounge in the netting while cruising. In addition, this feature adds extra power from carrying larger downwind sails, and easy handling.
The interior layout places the helm station forward of the aft deckhouse. The owner’s private cockpit space is located aft and can be accessed directly from the owner’s suite.
Famous Hermes worked on the interior styling. The decor includes the opulent tan leather and signature white stitching, as well as pastel colour palette combined with accents of blue. The general interior theme boasts the sophistication and charm coupled with the latest technology and superb comfort.
