Poros is one of the most amazing islands in Greece. It’s a volcanic island very green with neoclassical and Venetian architecture, picturesque and authentic villages. Its interesting coastline with sandy and pebbled beaches with deep blue waters makes it a perfect island for relaxing holidays.
Poros takes its name from the 200m sea passage, separating the island from the Peloponnesian mainland. Poros consists of two islands, joined by a narrow canal: the small volcanic islet of Sfairia over which Poros town houses clustered on the hillside and pine – swatched Kalavria.
Poros has 31 square kilometers with a population of 4000 people. It is part of the Saronic Islands along with the islands of Aegina, Hydra as well as Spetses. It is located 32 nautical miles south from the largest port of Greece, Piraeus ( just 2,5 hours away by ferry).
Walking through the narrow streets of Poros the visitors can find the archaeological museum, the library, reception rooms and get to the historic clocktower “Roloi” at the top of the hill which is the symbol of the Poros town.
