Yacht JOY

Exuberant and full of delightful surprises, Feadship’s Motor Yacht JOY, a 70m/634ft masterwork, made her much anticipated and much welcomed first appearance in July 2016. After a successful yacht charter season in the Mediterranean, where CharterWorld was the first to organise her maiden charter, she made a jaw-dropping attendance in the United Arab Emirates, as photographed below. This world class vessel has been described by her designers Bannenberg and Rowell (and many observers) as a masterpiece of delightful design, technology and build quality. Since her lunch she has recieved much deserved exposure, accolades, awards and favourable reviews.

JOY

A rare addition to the luxury yacht charter market, Joy enjoys the advantage of being the product of a fresh, perspective by the Dutch shipbuilders, Feadship. She embodies the youthful lifestyle of her owner and possesses a unique distinction from which prestigious superyachts are created. Sleek and refined, this motor yacht is all about style as well as innovative touches throughout.

Cutting-edge exterior

Expect a truly cutting-edge exterior which gives Joy her remarkable profile. The radical exterior styling with its quirky, concave lines wasn’t easy.  It brought with it a whole series of challenges for the yard in Holland especially in terms of construction, fairing and painting. This Dutch manufacturer certainly delivered exactly what the client wanted for true al fresco living and leisure.

In response to the owner’s desire to harmonise the exterior and interior spaces, professional designers developed a whole new concept with “winter gardens” on the main and owner’s deck. Formed by optional glass panelling that transforms instantly from open-deck space to air-conditioned zones, guests can alternate quite easily between the large indoor and outdoor areas. There’s still plenty of light where one has access to panoramic views.

An approach to flexible, luxury living

To fit in with the approach of flexible, luxury living, a semi open-air gymnasium was also installed on the bridge deck. Imagine working out and toning up your body in such luxurious surroundings. The exterior of the yacht is graced with angular surface shapes and sculptured sections which allow for a great deal of natural light to pass through. The large windows embrace the living spaces meaning that those lucky enough to be on board are always at one with their surroundings.

During the design of the vessel, the approach was taken to minimise anything that would get in the line of sight while at the same time maximising deck space. Available to charter, Joy is large enough to allow parties of 12 to enjoy the sophistication of this contemporary superyacht all to themselves.

A five-deck wonder, Joy is a spectacular addition to the global charter world and is now mesmerising guests with her curvaceous lines along with the artistic use of glass. Guests on board can take full advantage of the substantial deck space and cleverly crafted indoor and outdoor zones. Styling is bold and striking especially with the use of glass contrasting and the sculpted shape of the superstructure itself. Boasting dramatically lowered bulwarks partially lined with glass to create an open-concept cruiser, unobstructed views to the sea can be admired from every perspective.

Bomber doors

Feel inspired as you step on board via the main deck aft. You’re sure to be surprised by the sofa which opens up to provide easy access to a staircase that leads to the beach club on the lower deck. Just like the hatch of a bomber jet, the upward hinging doors have the extra advantage of forming further seating arrangements to both port and starboard.

When the doors are brought down, the space transforms into an outdoor lounge with a retractable screen attached to the ceiling. Here you can enjoy endless hours of night time entertainment watching the latest movies. This multi-functional space is just one of Joy’s special features.

Speaking of features, what about the elongated foredeck? It’s a recreation space with a basketball court so you can practice your game while family and friends cheer from the comfort of a well-shaded lounge. At the rear, the transom door changes into a canopy to cover the large swim platform.

Winter Garden

Let’s move onto the air-conditioned winter garden. A set of sliding glass doors open up onto a spacious dining area, encased by glass panelling is referred to as the “Winter Garden”. It creates a fresh new environment for guests to enjoy. Joy’s materials and styling makes the exteriors feel like they are actually an extension of the interior spaces, such is the design. What’s more, every living area on this superyacht has windows looking out onto the wide walkways making all rooms feel much larger than they are.

Occupying the forward section of the main deck, the elevator is located amidships on the starboard side. Check out the beautifully crafted timber staircase spiralling around its shaft. The elevator is consistent with the overall feel of the yacht while at the same time, is very functional. Connecting all decks apart from the lower deck, the circular glass elevator takes guests to both the owner’s deck and bridge deck.

To create a link between the interior and exterior, each of the two double cabins found on the main deck are fitted with large windows and lavished with exceptional soft furnishings. Due to the distinct use of colour and uniquely installed reflective surfaces, guests feel a great sense of space.
