Built by Whitbread in 1985 for Sir Peter Blake, sailing yacht LION NEW ZEALAND boasts a design by Ron Holland and a history of world-wide cruising - she took part in the 1985/86 Whitbread Round The World Race. She was purchased by the NZ Sailing Trust and gives sailing experiences to young New Zealanders. She underwent a two-year multi-million dollar refit at Yachting Developments ending in 2019 that has given her a new interior and a lighter, faster and more efficient hull.

The accommodation sleeps up to 22 guests over 11 bunk cabins and during the day up to 40 guests can stay on board.

Above deck, the helm controls are placed close to the stern and there is an abundance of space for laying out tables or sun loungers as guests require.
