Seasickness is believed to affect one in four people to a more or lesser extent and is caused when a sufferer’s brain misunderstands sensory inputs when they are on a boat. The See-LEVEL VR headset aims to eliminate this visual disturbance by immersing the wearer in a 360-degree virtual reality environment. The imagery presented replicates a stable and serene seascape and by transporting individuals to this tranquil, alternate See-LEVEL world, any discomfort is gradually alleviated.

Within a few minutes of exposure, the individual's focus shifts from the boat's unsettling motion to a state of calm and relief as they become fully engrossed in the virtual environment. The headset includes sensors and gyroscopes which update the virtual environment up to 80 times a second, maintaining a sense of realism and presence even when the wearer moves their head.

A guest described it as a game-changer, and told us about their experience, “I laid down, put on the VR goggles, and started to watch a picture of a lake with some mountains and trees behind. I was hoping for the 15 minutes to pass as quickly as possible so I could stand up and get some air. While watching and listening to the background music, I was still feeling sick then all of a sudden, I realized that something was different. As time passed, I felt almost comfortable. The boat was still rocking, swinging and moving and I could feel those movements, but I didn't feel sick.”

Most people need just 6-12 minutes wearing the headset before they begin to experience a decrease in their heart rate, waning anxiety, subsiding nausea and ultimately a complete sense of relief. The headset has been meticulously tested and results show that 40% of seasickness sufferers feel relief after one use, and an additional 40% after multiple applications as habituation occurs within the body and mind. However, amongst crew and those who travel on vessels frequently, efficacy is even higher.
