Carloforte has a long-standing custom of wooden boatbuilding. Traditional lateen sail fishing boats (Luggers) can be spotted around the harbour. The town even has a ‘maritime high school’.

Carloforte exudes a rugged beauty with rocky white cliffs, sandy beaches, and natural flora, with some truly spectacular cliff-top views. On the other side of the island is a working lighthouse (Capo Sandalo), dating back to the 1880s.

Continuing around the island, you'll come across the Costa della Mezzaluna, a beautiful inlet characterised by steep cliffs and enticing caves.

On the western coast are beautiful beaches, abandoned mines, small cottages, pine woods, and volcanic rocks. You’ll enjoy the exciting discoveries made along rugged wild paths and climbing routes.
