Read the full French Polynesia Charter Guide and South Pacific Charter Guide.

A 7-day private yacht charter itinerary visiting the best spots in French Polynesia.

Day 1 HUAHINE

Welcome and boarding at noon, Fare, main village of Huahine Island. Lunch and short navigation of 1 hour inside the lagoon, south of Huahine, Avea Bay. Afternoon : water sports – sea kayaks – beach combing.

Day 2 HUAHINE

Water-Sports and Nautical activities inside the lagoon of Huahine.

OPTIONAL EXTRA TOUR Half day guided tour in Huahine, visit of Polynesian archaeological sites. It may, however, be a good idea to do this tour on your first day when you arrive in Huahine as you get there quite early in the morning and you can’t board until noon. I found the archaeological tours in Tahiti quite interesting as the guide will tell you all about the human sacrifices, rituals and ceremonies that used to happen at these sites. You may even see some old bones.

Short navigation to the north of Huahine lagoon, at anchor at the typical Polynesian village, Fare.

Day 3 RAIATEA

Sea Crossing from Huahine to Raiatea, approximately 4 hours of cruising time.

Raiatea, the largest of the Leeward Islands, is often referred as “Raiatea the sacred”. Indeed, it was formerly the cultural and religious center of eastern Polynesia, with one of the most important “marae”, Taputapuatea. According to oral traditions, great migrations towards the Hawaiian Islands and New Zealand started from Raiatea. It is a place with a magical atmosphere, dear to the heart of Polynesians.

Mooring at Faaroa Bay for water-sports and nautical activities. This is a beautiful anchorage at the end of the largest river in Tahiti. If they are in Bloom the flowers from the trees that hang over the river float down with the current out to the lagoon. Amazing scenery. There is a local story about the flowers so be sure to ask the crew about it....in fact there is a local love story about everything in Polynesia...

Option to be paid extra: the river of Faaroa by dinghy and visit of a botanic garden.

Day 4 TAHAA

Short navigation, discovery of Raiatea lagoon. Stop at Uturoa. Shopping and local market. Lunch on board, navigation to Tahaa island, situated in the same lagoon. Option to be paid extra: Visit of a pearl farm.

Option to be paid extra: Dinner and evening in a restaurant with a local Polynesian show. I definitely think that you should do this. It’s will be a little pricey but I think its well worth it. You definitely have to see a dance show at some point as they are truly amazing.

Day 5 TAHAA

Tahaa is one of the most magnificent places in the Society Islands. The northern part of the Island is stunningly beautiful with lots of Motu’s and good snorkelling. The whole island is stunning. Tahaa’s main agriculture is Vanilla (this is where Coca-Cola gets its vanilla from). You can do an optional tour of a Vanilla Plantation and see how the produce and harvest it. I thought this was really interesting and it gives you a good understanding of why this spice is so expensive.

Option to be paid extra: Tahaa Vanilla tour, excursion with a guide: visit of vanilla plantations, full discovery of Tahaa island. Option to be paid extra: Barbecue lunch on a private Motu.

Day 6 TAHAA to BORA BORA

After the breakfast, sea crossing to Bora Bora, navigation of 4 hours. Try to get everyone up as early as possible so you can get going and get to Bora Bora before lunch. It’s a beautiful sail to Bora from Tahaa and you have to sail half way around the lagoon to get into the only pass for the Bora Bora Lagoon. Dolphins will often greet you as you enter the lagoon so have your cameras ready. If you thought the Lagoons couldn’t get any prettier you haven’t see anything until you see the colours in the stunning lagoon. Spend the rest of the day discovering of the greatest lagoon of French Polynesia.

Day 7 BORA BORA

Another fun filled day of water- sports and nautical activities : Sharks, turtles and tropical fish watching. Short navigations around the lagoon of Bora Bora.

Day 8 BORA BORA

Disembark at midday.
