A General Description of Motor Yacht KALINGA

This motor yacht KALINGA is a 54 m 176 (foot) impressive steel luxury yacht which was manufactured at The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard and conceived by De Voogt Naval Architects. Accommodating 14 passengers and 12 qualified crew, motor yacht KALINGA was formerly 744 as her project name or actual name. Completed for 1982 this boat’s interior design and decor demonstrates the yachting ideals from Pierre Tanter and their approach to interior yacht design.

New Build & Naval Architecture with respect to Luxury Yacht KALINGA

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architect firm involved in the technical nautical plans for KALINGA. Her interior design was conceived by Pierre Tanter. De Voogt Naval Architects is also associated with the yacht general design work for this yacht. In 1982 she was formally launched with triumph in Kaag and post sea trials and finishing touches was thereafter passed on to the yacht owner. The Feadship Royal Van Lent Shipyard completed their new build motor yacht in the Netherlands. Her hull was crafted from steel. The motor yacht superstructure component is fabricated predominantly with aluminium. With a width of 8.81 metres / 28.9 feet KALINGA has spacious room. A fairly deep draught of 3m (9.8ft) selects the number of ports she can enter, depending on their particular depth at low tide. She had refit improvement and alteration work carried out by 1996.

Installed with twin CATERPILLAR diesel engines, KALINGA will reach a high speed of 16 knots. Connected to her Caterpillar engine(s) are twin screw propellers. She also has an economical range of 4000 nautical miles when sailing at her cruising speed of 15 knots. Her total HP is 2250 HP and her total Kilowatts are 1656. Regarding bow thrusters she was built with Schottel. With respect to the ship’s stabalisers she uses Vosper.
