A General Description of Sailing Yacht ATREVIDA
This sailing yacht ATREVIDA is a 32 m 105 (foot) well sized steel luxury yacht which was produced by Herreshoff and devised by Nathaniel G Herreshoff. A well sized twin masted schooner ATREVIDA is a particularily well designed United States built superyacht which was launched to praise in 1923. Sleeping 9 passengers and 5 crew members, sailing yacht ATREVIDA used to be called Wildfire as her shipyard project name and/or actual name. She is a classic twin masted schooner.
ATREVIDA (ex Wildfire), is a steel schooner built in 1923. She was designed at the peak of Nathaniel Herreshoff’s career in 1922 and was one of the last builds of the Herreshoff family. The boatyard was sold the year after its launch. She was commissioned by then New York Yacht Club commodore Charles Harding and the yacht went on to win the 1924 Schooner Cup and several other important regattas for Harding. The yacht was sold twice more before being renamed ATREVIDA. She was first sold in 1950 to Jorge Bhering de Matos who sailed the yacht to Brazil, then to Dirceu Fortouta, where shespent four and a half decades entertaining influential guests out of Rio de Janeiro such as Elvis Presley, Rita Hayworth, Henry Kissinger, and many presidents of Brazil. After neglect over the years by 2002, the yacht was deemed scrap. However Gilberto Miranda, purchased her and she underwent a full refit and build at the MCP Yachts shipyard.

After the official launch in 1923 in Bristol Ri she was released to the proud new owner after sea trials. The main hull was constructed with steel.
