OCEA shipyard in France has confirmed an order for the construction of a Commuter 90. The 30m yacht is designed by naval architecture firm Joubert-Nivelt and naval design studio Pierre Frutschi. The Ocea Commuter 90 was commissioned by clients seeking sturdiness and reliability for explorative and adventure holidays including far flung icey horizons.
A standout feature of the Commuter 90, is the panoramic lounge flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows where passengers can relax and enjoy the view from the ship, situated behind the wheelhouse. The interior also features four double guest cabins and one crew cabin emphasising the reliable operating and back up systems on board.
The yacht is fitted with an ice-strengthened steel hull and transoceanic range and should be capable of 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. With twin 602-hp diesel engines, the yacht is expected to reach a top speed of 15 knots. With only a 1.75-meter draft, the Commuter 90 will be able to cruise a wide variety of shallow-water yachting destinations.
Yacht Accommodation
Few other details are being divulged at this point. For now, Ocea Yachts says the Ocea Commuter 90 will have four staterooms and floor-to-ceiling windows in the panoramic skylounge. The 20-foot (6.15-meter) beam should make the rest of the interior feel comfortable, too.
