A General Description of Motor Yacht TAIPAN

This motor yacht TAIPAN is a 52 metre 172 (ft) important steel ship which was crafted at CRN Yachts (Ferretti Group) and designed by Crn and Kevin Calhoun & Co. Accommodating 14 passengers and 12 qualified crew, motor yacht TAIPAN was once named #72; Awal; North Star; Pearl Star; Taipan Iii as her build project name or yacht title. Completed for 1980 the older interior design promulgates the established conceptualisation emanating from the boards of Merritt Knowles.

TAIPAN (ex AWAL, NORTH STAR, PEARL STAR and TAIPAN III) is a lovely older CRN motor yacht that has been in charter for several years. She was originally built for Middle Eastern Royalty. She was lengthened by 17ft in 1987 and now features an extended aft platform. The yacht which was sold to an American owner was taken to Thailand for a refit and remains in charter there. TAIPAN has seven staterooms including a Full width master stateroom with king size bed and two full baths en suite. She also has a Full width VIP stateroom with queen bed and bath en suite including an Italian marble tub and separate shower and five twin bed double staterooms all with full bath en suite.

The Building & Naval Architecture for Luxury Yacht TAIPAN

Crn was the naval architect firm involved in the professional vessel design work for TAIPAN. Her interior design was realised by Merritt Knowles. Crn and Kevin Calhoun & Co is also associated with the yacht general design work for this boat. In 1980 she was actually launched with triumph in Ancona and post sea trials and finishing touches was thereafter passed on to the owner who commissioned her. Crn Yachts (Ferretti Group) completed their new build motor yacht in Italy. Her main hull was built out of steel. The motor yacht superstructure is fabricated extensively with aluminium. With a beam of 8.35 m or 27.4 ft TAIPAN has spacious interior. She has a fairly shallow draught of 2.87m (9.4ft). She had refit maintenance and changes completed in 2006.

M/Y TAIPAN Engineering And Performance:

Installed with twin MIRRLEES-BLACKSTONE diesel main engines, TAIPAN can reach a top speed of 14.5 knots. Coupled to the TAIPAN engines are twin screw propellers. She also has an economical range of 5000 miles whilst sailing at her cruising speed of 12.5 knots. Her total HP is 2440 HP and her total Kilowatts are 1795. With respect to the ship’s stabalisers she was built with Vosper.
