A General Description of Motor Yacht PETRA

This motor yacht PETRA is a superyacht of generous proportions. This 44 m (144 ft) luxury yacht was a new build that was completed by at Heesen Yachts in 2009. PETRA was once called the project or yacht name (Heesen 4400). The naval architect that made this yacht's drawings for the yacht is Heesen Yachts Design Team and Omega Architects. Omega Architects was the one who saw out her interior design.

Motor yacht Petra is the sixth in Heesen's semi displacement, all aluminium, 4400 Class superyacht. Alongside the 3700 Class superyacht Petra represents one of the most popular yacht designs by Heesen Yachts - as created in collaboration with Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Laupman has been active in highly exclusive yacht design for 25 years. He founded his firm, Omega Architects- member of The Royal Institute of Dutch Architects – in 1995. Entering the accommodation from the aft deck, motor yacht Petra's guests are welcomed into a cosy semicircular conversation area, which leads forward into a more formal saloon, where three settees and two leather armchairs are arranged around a rectangular coffee table. A low cabinet divides the saloon from the dining area, further forward. The galley is located portside, and communicates with the dining area through a sliding door. Forward, on the starboard side of yacht Petra, the owner's office leads on into the owner's suite, which features a full beam bedroom with an adjoining his and hers bathroom that offers both a shower and bath. Eight guests can be accommodated in four cabins positioned on the lower deck, of which two are VIP cabins and two are twin cabins, all featuring an ensuite bathroom with shower. Frank Laupman has designed more than 60 megayachts. Most of his designs were developed for the celebrated Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts. Omega architects consists of a team of 17 specialists, each of them an expert in their own field. Frank Laupman created both the exterior styling, with its sleek and elegant lines, and the lavish interior of this fast motor yacht, which can reach a maximum speed of 25 knots thanks to its twin MTU 16BV 4000 M90 diesels, each delivering up to 2,720kW. Distinct lines, coupled with extreme comfort and the high quality workmanship that Heesen is known for, account for the incredible success of the Heesen 4400 series. The layout on superyacht Petra is conceived for making the most of the outdoor living, and in this respect guests can socialise in four distinct areas. The main deck offers a spacious aft cockpit and a very intimate forward cockpit that ideal for ensuring guest privacy when the yacht is stern docked in the harbour. A cosy aft cockpit on the upper deck adjoins the sky lounge. Aloft, there is a very spacious fly bridge with a circular spa pool and a dining table for up to ten guests.

The Construction & Naval Architecture with respect to Luxury Yacht PETRA

The yacht's general design work came from Heesen Yachts Design Team and Omega Architects. The formal naval architect plans are the products of Heesen Yachts Design Team. Motor Yacht PETRA received her stylish interior designing from the interior design skills of Omega Architects. the Netherlands is the country that Heesen Yachts built their new build motor yacht in. After her official launch in 2009 in Oss she was then released to the happy owner after sea trials and testing. The core hull was constructed with aluminium. The motor yacht superstructure is made largely using aluminium. With a beam of 9 metres or 29.5 ft PETRA has spacious room. A fairly shallow draught of 2.5m (8.2ft) affects the amount of marinas she can visit, taking into account their specific depth.

“Dutch and German shipyards are recognised as the best in the world. We are one of the three top shipyards in the Netherlands, and one of the best in the world. We are also renowned for technology, innovation and modern cutting-edge design. If comparing ourselves to car manufacturers, we are the equivalent of Aston Martin rather than Rolls-Royce.” - Mark Cavendish, the Commercial Director of world-renowned superyacht builder Heesen Yachts
