A General Description of Motor Yacht ITASCA

This motor yacht ITASCA is a 54 metre 176 (ft) notable steel vessel which was developed at Smit J & K and concieved by J & K Smit. A notable converted private yacht ITASCA is a very well designed Dutch made yacht which was launched to celebration in 1961. Accommodating 10 passengers and 12 crew members, motor yacht ITASCA was formerly 883 Thames; Smit Thames. She could be described as a classic converted private yacht. The graceful superyacht was created with the naval architecture of J. & K. Smit. Judy Bell Davis acted on the interior design.

The 53,55m (175.7 ft) Smitt Holland ITASCA has 71,855 gallon fuel tanks. This expedition yacht has travelled the world and perhaps has one of the most impressive lists of cruising itineraries for a luxury motor yacht. From the Bering Strait to Cape Horn to the icy world of Antarctica, this fuel efficient boat can travel 13,000 nautical miles at 11 knots before having to re-fuel.

Building & Designing with respect to Luxury Yacht ITASCA

J & K Smit was the naval architect involved in the professional superyacht plans for ITASCA. Her interior design was conceived by Judy Bell Davis. J & K Smit is also associated with the yacht general design work for this boat. In 1961 she was actually launched to triumph in Kinderdijk and following sea trials and finishing touches was thereafter handed over to the yacht owner. Smit J & K completed their new build motor yacht in the Netherlands. A spacious feeling is brought about with a widest beam (width) of 10.36 metres / 34 ft. With a 4.69m (15.4ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built with the use of steel. In 2001 extra refit work and modernisation was in addition performed.

Installed with two SMIT-MAN diesel main engines, ITASCA can attain a high speed of 12 knots. Connected to her Smit-MAN engine(s) are a single screw propeller. She also has an economical range of 18000 miles whilst underway at her cruising speed of 11 knots. Her total HP is 2500 HP and her total Kilowatts are 1840. With respect to bow thrusters she was built with Smit. As for the yacht’s stabalisers she uses Vosper.
