A General Description of Motor Yacht GALEB

GALEB was previously registered as project/yacht name Ramb Iii; Kiebitz; Kuchuk. This 117 metre (385 foot) luxury yacht was manufactured at Ansaldo in 1939. Motor Yacht GALEB is a imposing superyacht. The naval architect which delivered the design details in respect of the yacht is Ansaldo.

Yacht Galeb also known as The Peace Ship Galeb was used by the late President of the Yugoslav Republic Marshal Tito on more than 100 official visits around the world. She was also used to entertain heads of state and other VIPs. The yacht has since been purchased by John Paul Papanicolaou, a Greek yachtsman who rescued Christina O. Galeb is Serbo-Croatian and Croatian for Seagull. Papanicolaou is refitting GALEB and will preserve her original lines but redo her interior to accommodate dozens of guests.

The Building & Yacht Design relating to Luxury Yacht GALEB

Ansaldo was the naval architecture company involved in the technical superyacht plans for GALEB. Also the company Ansaldo skillfully collaborated on this project. In 1939 she was formally launched with celebration in Genoa and post sea trials and finishing touches was afterwards passed on to the owner who commissioned her. Ansaldo completed their new build motor yacht in Italy. A sizeable feeling is brought about with a total beam (width) of 15.61 metres / 51.2 ft. With a 5.6m (18.4ft) draught (maximum depth) she is deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure over the hull is fashioned out of steel. In 2003 extra refit work and modernisation was also finished.
