Superyacht Big Fish Will start a historic voyage with broker’s donation for ‘Cruise For Change’.

Auckland, NZ – Still more than a month away from completion and delivery, 45M Big Fish, has already booked its first yacht charter. The booking, for a 10-day charter in Tahiti in August, originated with Cindy Brown of Ultra Marine of New York and Allan Jouning of 37S, Big Fish’s listing agent.

Three years in construction at New Zealand’s famous McMullen & Wing shipyard, Big Fish is a luxury expedition vessel combining the best attributes of a safe, strong and capable long-range motor yacht with the comfort, stability and amenities of a traditional ‘white’ yacht. Big Fish is a five-stateroom vessel and carries a crew of 10. She features floor-to-ceiling windows in salon, dining area and master suite, opening bulwarks port and starboard for an infinity-view dining experience, and opening port and starboard stern bulwarks that create the widest swim platform of any yacht under 65 meters. Big Fish carries a 29-foot custom aluminium long-range dive/exploration/fishing tender, offers active hull stabilization, and a full complement of water ‘toys’ including a pair of matched Laser sailboats.

Big Fish will be based in the South Pacific for the coming Northern Hemisphere summer, and then will visit Fort Lauderdale for the international yacht show, after which she will embark on an extraordinary and historic cruise to be the first vessel in history to complete a Polar Circumnavigation, including the first yacht crossing of the famed Northeast Passage over the top of Russia. Big Fish will be offering 10-day luxury expedition charters in the Antarctic (Dec. – Feb.), the Amazon (Mar. – April), Cuba (May – June) and Northern Europe/Arctic Circle/Northeast Passage (July – Sept.) before returning to the Pacific in late September 2011.

In announcing yacht Big Fish’s first charter, Allan Jouning was also pleased to make public that Cindy Brown had generously agreed to donate 2.5% of her share in the charter commission to the Cruise For Change charity being started by Big Fish and her crew. The charity will look at the specific needs of remote islands and communities it will be visiting to provide such items as tools, medical supplies and educational materials. “We are very excited by our first charter,” said Capt. Winston Joyce-Clarke, “and the crew and I are very pleased at Cindy’s support in our effort to ensure that wherever we go and whoever we meet on our historic maiden voyage, will be better off for the experience.”

More About Motor Yacht BIG FISH

Motor yacht Big Fish, the world’s most eco-conscious yacht, is offering per-stateroom charters on a space-available basis during its history-making voyage to be the first vessel ever to complete a Polar Circumnavigation, including the first yacht transit of the fabled Northeast Passage.

Thanks to flexible accommodations on board Big Fish, a family of 10 can travel in comfort and style, or three couples can each experience the epitome of luxury in a master and two full-beam VIP suites. 70 percent of Earth’s surface is ocean. Superyacht Big Fish is your window to our world. Designed and built to the highest standards of safety, security, comfort and enjoyment, Big Fish is intentionally conceived to create unique, truly personal peak experiences for her owner and charter guests.

No other boat of her size delivers the opportunity to travel – safely and luxuriously – to virtually any place on our ocean planet.

Want to explore uncharted seas? Find unspoiled fishing and diving? Build a school on a remote atoll? Carry medical supplies to a needy third-world village? Big Fish is ready and capable of accomplishing your vacation or mission.

Big Fish is designed and equipped for serious blue-water cruising to the most remote parts of the world. Her Greg Marshall-designed and meticulously tank-tested hull provide rugged independence from shore for voyages lasting 3 months and more. Reliable, fuel-sipping Caterpillar engines and generators – coupled with 92,000 litres of fuel capacity – mean the voyage can be designed around mission goals and objectives, rather than the limitations of the yacht.

At more than 12m meters, Big Fish offers the widest and most spacious swim platform ever built on a 45m yacht. Sheathed in indestructible granite, the yacht’s normal-sized swim platform expands dramatically by port and starboard stern quarters, which unfold to join the platform structure. When fully unfolded, the entire structure is capable of simultaneously supporting numerous water and boating activities. In addition, the unfolding stern quarters provide additional weather-protected storage of water sports equipment and gear.

Superyacht Big Fish will proudly fly the burgee of the International SeaKeeper’s Society, a global organization dedicated to ocean monitoring, education and protection. She will be equipped with the latest SK1000 ocean and weather monitoring system, providing scientists and resource managers with information vital to understanding changes in the world’s oceans and climate. Measurements of a wide variety of meteorological and ocean chemistry parameters are made every minute and transmitted via satellite for use by scientists and weather forecasters in more than 156 countries.
