Valencia Boat Show 2014, April 24 – 28

Monday morning, April 7, 2014, saw the Valencia Boat Show launch its second edition at a press conference. To be hosted by the glamorous Spain yacht charter destination – Valencia, the event will take place around Chipperfield’s impressive “Veles e Vents” building at the Marina Real Juan Carlos I, running from April 24 to 28.

The press conference was hosted by Valencia Boat Show’s Chairman Jorge de Haro; Generalitat Valenciana Sports General Director Mateo Castellá; Sports and Youth City Council councilor Cristóbal Grau; Sailing Federation of Valencia (FVCV) Chairman Jose Martinez; and Mapfre’s territorial CEO Vicente Guarch.

A huge media impact and last event numbers were overwhelming: 40,000 visitors, 1.2 million euros turnover during the event and almost 3 million euros post event turnover.

Valencia Boat Show 2013 edition had an investment of 116,929 euros, which is a direct ratio of 10.2 euros generated per euro invested.

The new edition significantly outperforms the previous one, both in exhibitors and surface as in activities and gastronomic offer. As reported by its chairman, this year’s edition has a 5% budget increase over last year’s edition.

De Haro emphasized the show’s positioning in the boat market and the amount of innovations that offers Valencia Boat Show 2014. He also wanted to thank the participating administrations,  exhibitors and sponsors confidence.

Sports General Director Mateo Castellá referred to Valencia Boat Show as “the most important sailing meeting point of Spain” and highlighted “the excellent conditions the city of Valencia gather for water sports”.

Meanwhile, Grau stressed that this event, organized by the Marine Companies Union (UEN) in collaboration with the City Council and the Real Marina Juan Carlos I, “its a consolidated proyect with many possibilities, and besides promoting an economic sector that generates employment, it consolidates Valencia and projects its image as a city of reference in the marine environment”.

FVCV president has referred to water sports as “part of our identity” and sailing in particular as “one of the most important references, which has positioned our Region worldwide through the biggest events”.

Therefore, the Federation strengthens its relationship with the event, as this year it expands the sports program and includes new disciplines such as diving and guided visits to Tirant I Schooner, Generalitat’s Valenciana training ship.

Valencia Boat Show will also held the Regional Cruise Championship and the II Sport Boat Valencia Congress, organized by the FVCV and the Valencian Community Yacht Club Association.

Finally on behalf of the event’s sponsors, Mapfre’s territorial CEO Vicente Guarch explained that it is an honor for the company to support an event of this nature, which is also a way to return to society part of the profits of their businesses.
