The Blue Coast 95’ which will be the 4th largest catamaran in the world when completed is under construction at the H2X shipyard in La Ciotat. The catamaran Blue Coast 95’ was designed by Jean‐Jacques Coste and is the first maxi-catamaran of this new range created by Coste Design and Partners.

The Blue Coast 95’ Profile

The construction of the Blue Coast 95 began in July 2009 with the modelling of the project by the H2X design and engineering department, and the construction of 2 hulls in composite. The hulls were assembled in December. Partitions, systems and the floor have been laid since the beginning of the year, fittings are currently under construction and the painting of the ship has begun. The yacht will be launched at the end of the summer, a record‐time for a 28,80 m (95ft) custom catamaran.

Catamaran Blue Coast 95 will feature a contemporary design with large open spaces and panoramic views. The sailing yacht will offer a great layout for entertaining and relaxation as well as great sailing performances with luxurious fittings and top quality equipments.

The Blue Coast 95’ Under Constuction at the H2X yard

A unique feature of the Blue Coast 95’ is her retractable boom which is unusual for a boat of that size. It is possible thanks to the partnership specifically developed between H2X, Coste Design and Partners and the sail maker Petit Jean Composites. The catamaran will use a sail plan with a 230 sqm main sail, a 115 sqm solent, a 280 sqm gennaker on a 110 ft pivoting mast.

Catamaran Blue Coast 95’ The Construction

The composite department is currently adding on the roof via the “one‐shot” infusion process. This part has an area of 198m² and requires all the knowhow and the experience of the H2X teams. The perfect management of the process will contribute to reaching the ambitious objective of a large custom catamaran construction in less than 18 months.

The official launch of the Blue Coast 95  will take place during the Cannes boat show from 8 to 13 September 2010.
