Zeelander Luxury Explorer Yacht Z164 presented at Monaco Yacht Show 2014

October 01, 2014

This year’s Monaco Yacht Show saw the Dutch yacht builder, Zeelander present its motor yacht Z164 concept to the visitors and yachting professionals alike. With the running costs of a 30 meter yacht, Zeelander designed and engineered a 50 meter Luxury Explorer, the Z164 superyacht. This innovative yacht is completely designed to provide low cost of ownership, reduced fuel and energy consumption and to excel in the Green Plus RINA Classification.

During a press conference Zeelander owner and Chairman Sietse Koopmans told the attending press, including CharterWorld, the inspiration and motives behind this exciting project. It all started in 2009, when he embarked on his own circumnavigation of the world on board his explorer yacht Zeepaard. This incredible and uplifting journey lasted over 3 years and covered 50,000 miles, visiting 39 countries.

Being Dutch and with an engineering background from the oil industry, Sietse and the Zeelander team designed the yacht to the point of perfection. Taking every aspect of the yacht into consideration, HVAC systems, generators, engines, grey water, cleaning processes for the yacht and down to the smallest light bulb. No stone has been left unturned. Every facet of the Z164 yacht has been engineered to reduce the environment impact and reduce overall running costs.

Zeelander’s historic involvement in noise and vibration control plays an important part in the development of the Z164. The world tour, for which Sietse received the Voyager’s Award at the prestigious 2014 World Superyacht Design Awards, gave him countless experiences and invaluable knowledge which were key in the design of the Z164.

Silent Ship
The sounds of the sea, the waves and the wind are integral to the experience of life at sea. However, enduring mechanical or man-made noise can seriously affect the yachting experience. The reduction of noise and vibration, while sailing or at anchor, became a priority during the development of the Z164 Luxury Explorer. Effective counter-measures were taken with Zeelander Yachts optimising sound reduction for an almost silent ship.

Zeelander have achieved market leading sound and vibration control with meticulous attention throughout the yacht. Years of innovation, research and bespoke design have delivered amazing advancements in noise and vibration control adding to the luxurious comfort of the luxury yacht Z164. Life at sea should not be about vibrating generators and the constant drum of engines. To really feel at one with your surroundings, it is essential to actually feel waves interacting with the hull and hear them break at the stern. The Z164 yacht has truly exceeded all expectations in every aspect of its design.

The Voyager’s Award recognizes an owner that has made extensive use of their yacht in long distance voyaging and exploration over the past few years. Sietse spent 3 years and 3 months circumnavigating the world on board motor yacht Zeepaard. During this amazing once in a lifetime trip, Zeepaard visited 39 countries, sailed over 50,000 nautical miles with Sietse taking more than 40,000 photographs.

Superyacht Zeepaard is a 37.2m explorer designed by Vripack and built by JFA Yachts. The world tour began in July 2009 in Malta. There was no exact route planned and no time schedule had been set. The journey started in the Mediterranean and continued to Florida, the Caribbean, Cuba and Panama cruising on to the Galapagos Islands through to Polynesia, Fiji, down to Australia, then on to Indonesia up to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, across to Sri Lanka, through the Suez Canal and back to the Med.

As CEO of Zeelander Yachts, Sietse Koopmans has used all his previous engineering experience and his time on Zeepaard to develop and bring to market the prestigious line of Zeelander yachts that are taking the luxury yachting market by storm.

Zeelander 44 mega yacht tender built by S2 Yachts

February 28, 2013

Constructed by S2 Yachts in the Netherlands, the Zeelander 44 yacht tender or a mini-superyacht was conceived as the one boat everyone desires to own. The magnificent Zeelander 44 boat is designed by bespoke Cor D. Rover and Zeelander Yachts, with naval architecture by well known Frank Mulder.

Created to fulfill every recreational requirement, years in development have resulted in the Zeelander 44 yacht tender that is more a mini-superyacht than anything else in its class. The finished Dutch product is defined by a collaboration with major industry leaders and is underwritten by Dutch design standards – benchmarks that make Holland unassailable world leaders in superyacht production today.

No compromises have been made throughout the Zeelander 44 superyacht tender’s design, naval architecture, hull specifications, sound engineering and custom interiors.

Zeelanders are equipped with every possible amenity to ensure a completely turnkey experience.

EXTERIOR

Zeelander 44 yacht tender is a masterpiece, high-lighted with rich mahogany, gold-sprinkled paint, stainless steel, marble and sensuous leathers.

The mirror-like finish of the paintwork is the result of thousands of hours of personal attention by Zeelander craftsmen. Each Zeelander hull receives seven individual layers of paint and lacquer, with hand finishing between each layer by 6 craftsmen using long-boards. The process involves a clever blend of the automotive and aeronautic products to resist abrasion and ultra-violet damage. The result is then polished to create a luster that is unmatched in the yachting industry.

Through a ‘custom’ option, Owners and Collectors can choose to entirely customize their Zeelander 44 superyacht tender, without compromising the quality or attention to detail that underwrites this work of art. Although owners so far have an unlimited choice of colours, a special selection of paint colours for the hull, with complementary superstructure has been created for 2009.

INTERIOR

The interior of the Zeelander 44 superyacht tender is a masterful use of space with characteristic levels of finish. The cockpit is so ideally positioned and carefully conceived that all the data is simply available to anyone familiar with a computer or a modern supercar. The instruments are logistically set out yet perfectly suited to the yachting environment in crafted stainless and waterproof monitors.

The commanding helmsman’s position affords excellent visibility and the choice of helmsman’s seats which offer outstanding levels of comfort guarantee that both helmsman and guests are fresh and relaxed after a day’s cruise. Throughout the interior use of lightweight cored construction and the richest materials mark this as a mini superyacht that promises to become the watchword for luxury and refinement in the yachting world.

Zeelander 44 yacht tender’s creators have strived endlessly to test and perfect every area of the yacht. When satisfied with the result they re-addressed the quality by ensuring the highest levels of craftmanship at every level. A multi-skilled team well versed in traditional skills and using the most advanced and cutting edge technology create an interior that is unsurpassed in terms of quality and attention to detail.

Zeelander’s designers work with only the finest natural materials; wood veneers and leathers, silks, wools, precious metals all of which are specially selected for the harsh marine environment yet without compromising quality.

Every teak plank is personally selected and the hand-laid on the decks before being vacuum-bedded in the deliberate single-length Zeelander 44 yacht tender style, emphasizing the almost perfect curves and sheer of her hull and superstructure. Interior veneers are selected for the grain and color and opened out into large sheets to ensure the grains are continous throughout the interior (examples of woods available for the Zeelander include pear, cherry, mahogany, walnut burr-though Zeelander will build to customers wishes).

Each piece of furniture is individually crafted before being fitted into the yacht. It is then removed and veneered, before going to environmental paint shops for the final layers of lacquer showcasing the beauty of wood.

Just as with the exterior, the ‘custom’ option allows Collectors to entirely customize their Zeelander interior finishes to their own tastes. Zeelander work with different interior designers to offer personalized finishes to meet the individual requirements and style of customers.
