On display at this year’s MYBA Charter Show in Genoa, the 30m Benetti Tradition motor yacht Quid Pro Quo has recently presented a policy of carbon offsetting her fuel. With her first carbon offset already in place, the carbon footprint of the charter yacht Quid Pro Quo’s engines will be balanced by equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects.

The first Amels 212 motor yacht Imagine, has presented a policy of carbon offsetting her fuel. The vessel’s operators have gone beyond the required standards of environmental management, by pro-actively reducing her net carbon footprint. To obtain this positive impact, Yacht Carbon Offset counterbalances the greenhouse gas emissions of the Imagine superyacht’s engines with equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects.

The environmental leadership shown by her Owner also acknowledges the high expectations of her prestigious charter clients. Joss de Rohan Willner, the luxury yacht Baton Rouge’s Captain commented, “In reviewing Baton Rouge’s environmental procedures, we decided to address her greenhouse gas emissions through a programme of carbon offsetting. 2011 ISS Fabien Cousteau Blue Award winner Yacht Carbon Offset

Yacht Carbon Offset is happy to be awarded the 2011 International Superyacht Society Fabien Cousteau Blue Award. The Award, created to celebrate stewardship of marine ecosystems, was introduced by Fabien Cousteau during ISS’s International Awards for Design and Leadership Gala in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, on 27 October 2011.

ISS’s Executive Director, Amy Halsted, long a proponent of sound environmental activism and who serves as one of the ISSFCBA judges, commented: “Any inaugural year of an award is an exciting and engaging process. The International Superyacht Society introduced the ISS Fabien Cousteau Blue Award in 2010 as the celebration of marine ecosystems´ stewardship. This will appear during ISS’s International Awards for Design and Leadership Gala on 27th October 2011, the opening night of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, in Florida, USA. IMS teams up with Yacht Carbon Offset for a greener future

Global ship delivery specialists, International Maritime Services (IMS) has introduced a carbon offset option for all delivery voyages, through a strategic alliance with Yacht Carbon Offset, the Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Certified specialists. Under this programme, the greenhouse gas emissions from the fuel burned by participating vessels will be counterbalanced by equivalent emissions reductions from verified green energy projects.

Genoa Yacht Charter Show 2011 – MYBA reports another successful year

MYBA -The Worldwide Yachting Association is pleased to announce the completion of another successful MYBA Charter Show in Genoa from May 2 – 6 2011. The MYBA Boat Show Committee worked hard with the Show Managers, Pesto Sea Group, throughout the year to ensure the success of this unique charter Show. A total of 79 yachts were presented in Marina Molo Vecchio, the Aquarium Quay and the new Marina Fiera which was accessed by ferry and shuttle. The standards and quality of the exhibiting yachts was exceptionally high with many brand new yachts having only just left the yard.  The Show remains a unique opportunity for top charter brokers to view charter yachts available for the season ahead. This year over 350 brokers attended from all over the World and there was an impressive selection of over 59 exhibitors.

This year the Captain’s Briefing was sponsored by Spectrum Group Ltd and Mannmade Group Ltd who gave a presentation to Captains. The spectacular Gala Dinner for over 500 show guests including brokers, Captains, Exhibitors and Press was a great success at the beautiful Villa Lo Zerbino. The Crew Party held on the last day of the Show was co-sponsored by MYBA and Global Services Ltd. It was well attended and a fun end to the show for the hard working crew.

The destination seminar held on Tuesday 3rd May was well attended. Three destinations were presented. Captain Jonas Svensson, motor yacht Moecca  – Saba, Malaysia Captain Gui Garcia, M/Y M/Y Tuscan Sun  – Bahamas ; and Tim Soper, Eyos Expeditions – super yacht Hanse Explorer  - Arctic/ Antartica.

The MYBA Association again collaborated with Yacht Carbon Offset  for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions from the Show.

The 2012 Show will be held from April 30 – May 4 2012.  The MYBA Boat Show Committee and the Pesto Sea Group are already working on improvements for next year, and look forward to another successful Show.

MYBA is partnering with Yacht Carbon Offset to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions from the 23rd MYBA Charter Show, which takes place in Genoa, Italy in May 2011. The MYBA Association represents over 100 Yachting companies with a growing number of superyacht owners and charterers that choose to compensate for the carbon footprint of their energy or fuel.

Carbon savings from one of Yacht Carbon Offset’s selected projects, in Nicaragua, have been allocated to match the estimated carbon emissions from electricity consumption at the event.

 

 

For the yachts themselves, Carbon Offsetting can easily be included in the arrangements of a luxury charter, and is a proportionate response that preserves full freedom of operation. The effectiveness of the action is underpinned by Yacht Carbon Offset’s Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Certification.

Dubois Cup 2011 to Carbon Offset

Hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo, The Dubois Cup will take place between 4-6 June 2011. Dubois has announced that, in partnership with Yacht Carbon Offset, it has balanced the estimated carbon footprint of this year’s regatta, which includes an allowance for participants’ air travel to Sardinia.

The Dubois Cup 2011

The Dubois Cup is once again organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in collaboration with Dubois and takes place this year between 4-6th June. This exciting Regatta brings together many Dubois-designed superyachts, and includes two race days as well as a lively social programme, just before the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta at the same venue. The Dubois Cup is a non-profit event which aims to raise funds for the vital research programs developing treatment for the childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma.

So far, there are eight yachts confirmed for participation at the Dubois Cup 2011, including three of the most important Dubois designed superyachts launched last year; 58.4m sailing yacht Kokomo, the 57.5m Twizzle yacht and 49.7m S/Y Zefira .  Sailing yacht Twizzle announced its own carbon offset programme in September 2010, also in partnership with Yacht Carbon Offset.
