Luxury charter yacht QUINTA ESSENTIA – the ultimate perfection

February 01, 2012

Quinta Essentia, a perfectly chosen name for a yacht that exceeds all expectations, featuring countless innovations in both aesthetics and technical terms. Not surprisingly this stunning 55m Heesen built charter yacht Quinta Essentia is amongst the finalists in the prestigious 2012 World Superyacht Awards. Designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects in collaboration with Heesen Yachts‘ in-house designers, this 2011 launch vessel features exterior design by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, interior layout design and initial interior concept by Ken Freivokh, which was further developed and decorated by the interior designer Michela Reverberi.

Thanks to a large number of challenging concepts and flawless construction demanded  by her Owner, who has consistently built at Heesen, the shipyard have successfully realised a yacht with some extremely accomplished shipbuilding. One particular example is the metallic red paintwork specially formulated in honour of the Owner’s Montemaggio Merlot vineyard, while the radical ‘eye’ concept in the master suite includes not only full-height windows but also technically challenging glass bulwarks to create panoramic infinity views.

Perhaps one of the most exciting focal points of the motor yacht Quinta Essentia is the 7,000 litre main deck Jacuzzi pool, featuring a pressurised water fall though 3,000 one-millimetre holes drilled into a 3 metre length of polished stainless steel embedded into the deck-head. Such is the pressure of the falling water that it can be used as a screen for projecting films. Surely, a feature that many charter guests would truly appreciate.

In addition, Heesen yachts have built a  wet dock to house the 25 foot limousine tender, allowing guests to simply walk aboard the tender with ease. With the same colour scheme as Quinta Essentia, the Vripack designed yacht tender was custom built in New Zealand by Vaudrey Miller.

Moving onto the sun-deck, Quinta Essentia offers unlimited possibilities for those seeking active relaxation or luxurious beauty treatments. The entire deck is dedicated to health and beauty, including a fully-equipped Technogym, sauna, steam room and professional treatment salon. Quinta Essentia’s charter guests can unwind between sessions in a circular television lounge with spectacular views and sea-grass panelling designed by Michela Reverberi. Located on the same deck is the second Jacuzzi, sunbathing areas and a large al fresco dining terrace.

The sky-lounge features two distinctive circular saloons surrounded by curved full-height windows that open out to side balconies and the aft deck. Heesen’s ability to work with the most challenging briefs is clearly reflected in the complex installation of a baby grand piano and the fireplace located in the forward television lounge.

A sumptuous dining saloon was positioned within the second circular area of the upper deck. The entire main deck was then dedicated to a vast open-plan lounge, featuring exceptional style and flawless build quality.

Pearlised panelling required over twenty layers of lacquer sprayed and hand rubbed to produce the desired effect. The degree of installation difficulty was increased by the design requiring extremely fragile Macassar ceiling bands that continue down the full height of the wall. Custom-engineered Ad Notam black mirror plasma screens were seamlessly fitted within the Macassar cabinets.

Heesen motor yacht Quinta Essentia provides accommodation to twelve guests in six elegant, unique and highly personalised cabins. The master suite spreads over almost 100 square metres on the main deck. It is set within a concave cocoon of glass and opens out on both sides to a full-length private balcony. A ceiling height of over 2 metres emphasises the size of the suite. Walk-in wardrobes, an additional double cabin and a private office create the atmosphere of an entire apartment dedicated to the Owner.

Guests suites provide the same degree of luxury and detailing as is evident in the rest of Quinta Essentia. Superbly planned, the convertible, full-beam VIP, double and twin cabins on the lower deck open directly onto a central lift lobby therefore maximising the size of each cabin.

Beds and furniture are all set on plinths giving the impression that they are floating. The less the furniture sits on the floor, the greater the atmosphere of light and space. It is preferable but more difficult to build cabins this way – that is why Quinta Essentia superyacht is a Heesen.

Initial concepts for luxury yacht Quinta Essentia by Ken Freivokh:

As seen on the images below, Quinta Essentia’s initial concept proposals were very bold, making use of glass, structural composites, full integration of cantilevered furniture with ceiling and bulkhead features; a full relationship between furniture and the envelope of the yacht. As Ken Freivokh said himself: “Most certainly, not the more traditional situation of creating a room, and then dropping some furniture in!”

“Such structural integration was designed to create an exciting and dynamic interior, very well suited to the nature of the lightweight performance yacht, and ran through all the elements of the space, from floors to ceilings to bulkheads, panelling and furniture.”

When asked about the main aspects taken into consideration when designing the interior layout of Quinta Essentia, Ken Freivokh replied: ” In relation to chartering, my view is that a designer charged with creating an interior intended for both private use and for chartering has two choices: to recommend that such interior follows standard and accepted layouts, such that nobody chartering could possibly be offended by the unusual or extreme; or to create something which is indeed unique, exciting, special – so special indeed that it becomes one of the strong reasons why the yacht is sought after, as it offers a totally unique experience, which cannot be matched by other yachts of similar size.”

Interior design developed by Michela Reverberi

The extremely attractive and conceptual interior design of the vessel is contemporary and futuristic, featuring an intimate atmosphere that is not too stark. The inspiration for Michela Reverberi’s interior design work was ‘Quinta Essentia’ – the fifth element – which is the highest synthesis of the four elements. These four elements – Earth, Water, Air and Fire – are represented in the four guest suites, while the Owner’s suite with the silver colour palate synthesises them all. The fifth element theme of Quinta Essentia yacht is integrated subtly into the design through details, colours and patterns, which are displayed against an absolute and pure white background.

In a few words, motor yacht Quinta Essentia is a masterpiece on her own. She is unique and immaculate  in her design as she is in her construction and craftsmanship. A yacht that will embrace even the most discerning client, providing utmost in luxury, comfort and technology.

The luxury charter yacht Quinta Essentia will be available for charter vacations around the stunning and historically rich Mediterranean this summer season. She is available at a rate of EUR €350,000.00 per week (plus 25% expenses, plus EUR€20,000 security deposit). For additional information please, contact our friendly team.

45m luxury motor yacht KARIA

45m luxury motor yacht KARIA

The 45m luxury yacht Karia, designed by Ron Holland, with interior by Design Unlimited was launched at the end of 2011. Designed for the experienced yacht owner for long distance voyaging, this new yacht has been built to extremely high quality and specifications with long term low maintenance as a priority requirement. Particular attention has been given to ensure an efficient and sea kindly hull design, low vibration and noise as well as exceptional interior volume for this stunning vessel.

There are a number of features that separate the Karia yacht from many others.

The 500GT sized yacht, has an exceptional use of space to maximise comfort with light, airy and versatile spaces for up to 12 guests. The owners are afforded plenty of privacy on the master deck and the vessel incorporates a swimming platform aft and 2 yacht tenders stored under the foredeck.

The Oyster 100 sailing yacht Sarafin, that was completed last year at the RMK Marine yard, has also been nominated and selected as a finalist in its category. The vessel has had a great deal of very favourable press since its launch and is an excellent example of the quality of work produced at RMK Marine.

David Tydeman, CEO Oyster Marine commented, “We have been very pleased with the services of RMK in the three-waypartnership of Oyster, RMK and Dubois in the build of the first Oyster 100 by Dubois.”

Every yacht built at RMK Marine in the last five years has been made a finalist of the World Superyacht Awards, judging them within the top five of their type in the year. In 2010 the beautiful 52m super yacht Nazenin V built by RMK Marine was honoured with the Judges Special Commendation prize at the Awards. The special award was a true reflection of RMK Marine’s capabilities and reaching the finalist stage was a great achievement as the Best Sailing Yacht 45m+ category is one of the most hotly contended categories and firmly establishes the yard as a superyacht builder to the highest standards in the industry.

RMK Marine stated, “RMK Marine is delighted that these 2 beautiful yachts built by our team at the yard have been nominated for awards following on from the success of Nazenin V and prior to that Caressa K superyacht”.

With the investments in its infrastructure and facilities as well as in its labour force RMK Marine has continued to raise the level of the Turkish Superyacht construction industry. RMK Marine can offer great quality and service, whatever the structural material; from aluminium such as used for the luxury yacht Nazenin V to steel & aluminium for the RMK 4500 or composites as used for the Oyster yachts.

The selection as finalist is a great accolade and confirms the opinions expressed by the many visitors to RMK Marine, placing them as a world renowned Superyacht Builder.

The ancient city of Istanbul straddles the narrow Bosphorus Strait separating Europe and Asia, and with one foot in each continent embodies the best of both cultures. A city variously called Byzantium, Constantinople and more recently Istanbul, it has been the capital of three Empires, each leaving a heritage of architecture, places of worship and monuments.

The Awlgrip finished yacht Attessa IV wins Best Rebuilt Yacht of 2011 World Superyacht Awards

May 27, 2011

The award winning motor yacht Attessa IV, launched in December 2010, is the result of the largest refit in North America to date. The Attessa IV, formally known as Evergreen (launched in 1999), has been declared the Best Rebuilt Yacht of 2011 at the World Superyacht Awards, May 7, 2011.

Evergreen, as she was then known, arrived in North Vancouver at the Washington Yachting Group yard in spring 2007 to begin the “world’s finest & most ambitious refit,” said Chris Toole, Global Senior Product Manager, Awlgrip. Her transformation took 3 ½ years to complete, which included lengthening the vessel from 300 ft to 330 feet.

Motor yacht Attessa IV Renovations
As a part of the extensive re-fit the existing coatings of the yacht Attessa IV were tested extensively for their integrity and in many cases removal, before application of approximately 15,000 Gallons of Awlgrip products, including 4500 gallons of Awlgrip primers, such as Hullgard, Ultra Build, High Build & 545 Epoxy Primer. Washington Yachting Group chose Awlgrip’s complete system due to the ease of use, extended recoating intervals and reduced working time, saving numerous hours on this ambitious project.

As part of the complete Awlgrip system for the superyacht Attessa IV, Washington Yachting Group also chose to use the Awlfair® mixing machine along with Awlfair LW, the premium, epoxy trowelable fairing compound, to fair the existing and new sections of the hull.

The creamy smooth texture and easy application properties of Awlfair made it the obvious choice for Attessa IV and an estimated 8,000 gallons were used to create the smooth, ‘better than new’ look the owner desired. Tony McCormick, lead Awlgrip Technical Representative on the project, said “labor savings were equivalent of two full time workers by the use of the fairing machine, which operated flawlessly throughout the three year refit”.

Another milestone for this project was the extensive use of Awlcraft® SE, the revolutionary metallic topcoat system on the exterior of the sunbridge superstructure and mast as well as various entry areas, all in a custom silver metallic including a specially color matched non-metallic pearl for the satellite domes and radar antennas. The fast drying, high opacity product provided an excellent and even metallic finish on significantly large surfaces not normally considered suitable for metallics.

Completing the amazing transformation were over 800 gallons of Awlgrip topcoat to give an unmistakable finish and performance for an unrivalled masterpiece. Awlgrip is proud to have been such an integral part of this successful project and looks forward to other exciting projects with Washington Yachting Group in the future.
