30′ Como Trenta yacht tender by Werner Yacht Design

October 18, 2011

A few years ago designer Theo Werner of Werner Yacht Design received an inquiry for a large and fast classic runabout motor yacht design. During the design process, not only the designer and the client, but also the shipyard (Hans Visser – Visser Compas, The Netherlands) developed a great passion for the yacht and her stunning design lines. From this passion, a new smaller version was created – a Werner 30′ superyacht tender – ‘Como Trenta’.

The Werner Yacht Design created 30′ yacht tender – COMO TRENTA  has a nice blend of the American runabouts and Italian speedboats of the nineteen fifties era. Her detailing and finishes are as precise as on any given superyacht. The design of her underwater body is well balanced, providing a comfortable ride in high waves with the construction designed according to Lloyd’s Register regulations.

Although Werner 30′ yacht tender Como Trenta has a classic look, she combines the best of classic American runabouts and modern speedboats, in order to increase comfort and decrease the impact of incoming waves. This is achieved by a combination of a deep-V aft body, very fine waterlines in the bow and considerable flare in the forward sections allowing to deflect spray.

The 30′ runabout form Werner Yacht Design also attracted the attention of Ramon Urristi and Rienaldo Ghisa. At first only attracted by large motor yachts, they have instantly fell in love with the tender. They convinced Hans Visser and the designer Theo Werner of its potentials once the tender was built in series. They recognised the uniqueness in the combination of the classic design, blended with ease of handling and the level of finish. This combination of factors is what is sought after by private or charter yacht owners, who mostly prefer to have a decent replacement for a RIB on board or just a small toy boat at the club.

Urristi and Ghisa acquired the exclusive dealership for the tender and ordered two more tenders built to this design. Investigation is under way in order to find a best way to expand these stunning series. The Como Trenta yacht tender is exclusively distributed and branded by Como International BV in The Netherlands.

Luxury 28′ Corvette yacht tender by Werner Yacht Design

Last week, during the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show  CharterWorld had a chance to meet the well established Dutch motor yacht designer Theo Werner, the founder of the Werner Yacht Design company, noted for its stylish and reliable motor yachts. During our meeting we talked about a number of current design projects, one of which is the smart and elegant 28′ Corvette yacht tender inspired by an automotive icon Chevrolet Corvette from 1958.

Despite her size, 28′ Corvette superyacht tender attracts a great deal of attention and provokes many positive reactions. Everyone recognises the back of the Corvette, the windscreen with wind-down side windows and the concave panel on the side; all blending flawlessly into the bow of a classic US runabout.

The 28 foot Corvette Yacht was designed for those with a keen eye for harmony of lines, curves and shapes. For those who are flamboyant and enjoy making an appearance without being offensive. Theo Werner’s admiration for cars is clearly visible in the 28′ Corvette, although he admits her design was a little more difficult than expected. The 1958 Chevrolet Corvette, like most classic sports cars, has a very long bonnet, whereas it is virtually impossible to design a tender with a long foredeck without loosing too much of the cockpit space.

Even though the design turned out to be challenging  for the designer, after a few sketches, he managed to find the right proportions. Just one look at Corvette’s aft shape, the driver’s half of the cockpit, the concave part of the hull side as well as the windscreen with wind-down side windows, and one can quickly establish where the inspiration comes from.

The 28 foot long luxury superyacht tender ‘Corvette’ by Werner Yacht Design measures 8.60 metres in length over all, has a beam of 2.60 metres with a draft of 0.50 metres. She is designed to reach a maximum speed of 36 knots.

The 30m Werner Yacht Design – a 98 ft Motor Yacht

July 10, 2010

The assignment for the 30 metre Werner Yacht Design was to design an elegant and graceful motor yacht of max 100 ft. There was just not enough length for a tri deck concept (such as the 105 Werner trideck motor yacht), without losing grace and elegance, so Werner have adopted the raised pilot house concept for their 30m superyacht design.

The raised pilot house is a designer’s worse nightmare because of the complexity of the interior and construction lay-outs. More so, because Werner decided that the bridge should be as large as on a typical tri deck yacht. We have gone to great lengths arranging the lay-outs in such way, that a modest superstructure, essential for an elegant design, became finally feasible.
