Two Sunseeker Yachts nominated for World Superyacht Awards 2015

February 17, 2015

Now in its 10th year, the prestigious awards ceremony acknowledges the very best in superyacht design and build.  The awards are designed to showcase the finest superyachts built in the past 12 months, so to have two yachts named as finalists in two separate categories is quite the accolade for Sunseeker.

Sunseeker has secured a nomination in both the Semi-Displacement for Planing Three Deck Motor Yacht 30m-44.99m category for its ‘40 Metre Yacht‘ superyacht Thumper and the Semi-Displacement for Planing, Three Deck Motor Yacht 45m and above category for its ‘155 Yacht‘ motor yacht Blush.

Luxury yacht Thumper, the most recent 40 Metre Yacht, beautifully showcases the high levels of personalisation which can be achieved by the Sunseeker design team.  The owner of this fabulous yacht wanted to push the boundaries of what had previously been created and the end result is a magnificent yacht like no other in the world.

Super yacht Blush is of particular significance as not only is it the biggest project the British manufacturer has ever undertaken, but it also takes the concept of a series build with personal customisation even further.

Below is a choice of the superb charter yachts built by Sunseeker.

The world-class boat show was packed with global debuts of boats and products, as well as the latest in marine innovation. The 2015 event hosted an amazing number of 92,288 visitors.

This year’s Show enjoyed fresh thinking and a markedly new direction to this iconic event.  Not only were visitors impressed with the 400 exhibitors and the quality boats, products and services at the Show, but the new visual attractions on offer, such as the Show Entrance complete with Rain Curtain and the 4D Experience, added another dimension.

The Datatag Lab enthralled visitors throughout the whole Show.  Visitors enjoyed watching Southampton Solent University’s latest project the Solent Whisper hydrofoil catamaran come to life during the event, with HRH The Princess Royal getting involved in the build by infusing the resin.

In addition to the royal visitor, famous faces included star of Public Preview Day Nicole Scherzinger who launched Sunseeker’s new 57 Predator, Sir Ben Ainslie and recently crowned Yachtsman of the Year winner Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.  Paralympic gold medallist Helena Lucas joined former weather presenter Penny Tranter at The Datatag Lab whilst Michael Buerk, Nick Knowles, Rupert Grint were all spotted enjoying the Show.  Title sponsors CWM FX welcomed players and management from Wigan Warriors and boxing icons Barry McGuigan, Carl Frampton and others from the CWM Cyclones.

The Watersports Pool saw 1000 visitors get active on the water with Rockley, the Ben Ainslie Racing stand proved to be one of the most popular destinations and there were plenty of activities for families to do from Musto’s winch grinder to Neilson’s surf simulator, RYA’s RIB challenge to a brand new 4D sound to light Vibro dance floor from Landau UK.

Murray Ellis, Managing Director of the CWM FX London Boat Show said: “We have enjoyed a world-class Show with many of the world’s best brands from the marine industry.  Visitor feedback has been really positive, the new creative giving the Show a strong identity has been very well received, there’s been positive energy creating a fantastic atmosphere which have contributed to good sales.”

Craig Droste, General Manager of title sponsor CWM FX added: “The CWM FX London Boat Show has been a great success and we would like to thank everyone included for their exceptional hard work and dedication.  We are very proud to have made our mark in the marine sector and look forward to furthering our relationship with the London Boat Show in the coming years.”

Next year’s London Boat Show takes place from 8-17 January 2016 at ExCeL London.

Exhibitor quotes

Chris Gates, Managing Director, Princess Yachts International said: “Following a successful 10 days we have been very encouraged by the results achieved at the 2015 CWM FX London Boat Show, confirming its importance as a key sales platform for the business. The efforts of National Boat Shows to rejuvenate the show have been felt and we look forward to exhibiting again next year.”

Nick Keepfer of Zego Marine states: “Last year we sold three boats during the whole Show and this year we have already sold 10 boats and can expect to sell at least another 10 after the Show ends. Our business has been both recreational and commercial. This year we have had a great position and think the new layout of the Show has really helped business. It is so open and no longer do visitors just walk up and down aisles.”

Ben Metcalfe, Landau UK remarks: “Landau has had a fantastic first CWM FX London Boat Show and without question will be attending next year. For all on the stand the great sales, the great socialising and winning the Retailer of the Year Award has made it a fantastic start to 2015 and we are excited about what our road show holds looking forward.”

Stuart McCullough, Commercial Director at Fairline Boats, commented: “Fairline has enjoyed a successful show at London this year, with lots of enthusiasm for the brand. There has been a great atmosphere and a real buzz about the Fairline stand, with lots of buyers back in the market and a steady stream of orders taken throughout the show. We already have a strong order book for our new 53 models and have received lots of very positive feedback about our new-look stand and the display of our exciting new interiors. There has been a lot of excitement around the Shadow S model, which immediately leaves for Miami tonight where it will make its highly anticipated US debut.”

Matthew Stone, Norfolk Boat Sales states: “We launched the Elan 30 last year and from Sunday we had already sold three and given quotes for 10 more. By the end of the Show we can expect to sell another two or three and many more after from interest built at the Show. For the last five years people have talked the Show down, but this year there has been real enthusiasm before and during the Show and this has seen business build and people buying boats at CWM FX London Boat Show. We will be back next year, up from the two boats we have this year to three boats.”

Sean Robertson, Sales Director, Sunseeker International commented: “Attendance at CWM FX London Boat Show 2015 has been the most successful and encouraging for over five years with 10,000’s of visitors passing through the stand. The economic impact on the leisure marine industry has been challenging for a number of years but the 2015 Show has seen customers return in numbers last seen in 2008. Our sales results and confidence is driven in part by the sheer number of brand new models introduced of late including four last year, four during 2015 and three planned for 2016. This requires substantial investment and a commitment to the business which is unparalleled. Matched by our willingness to offer a ‘Bespoke’ customisation service on all six of our yachts 30m and above, customers have a clear upgrade path supported by our world-class dealer network who have worked incredibly hard all week. We could not be more proud of our entire team both here at the Show and our colleagues who help design, engineer and build a truly iconic product.”

Julian Griffiths of Jet UK remarks: “This is our first CWM FX London Boat Show and it has delivered so much. We have taken details for roughly 180 people wanting more information and see future developments for Jet UK in the pipeline for the next Show.”

Ian Thomson of Nestaway Boats says: “The 2015 CWM FX London Boat Show has been a record Show, our best Boat Show ever. People are really coming to the Show to buy and we have sold 23 boats.  By Tuesday we had already sold more boats than last year.”

David Pougher of Deep Consulting comments: “After a successful launch of Selva Marine at the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2014, taking more space at 2015 CWM FX London Boat Show was a no brainer.  It delivers the opportunity to do B2B and B2C business – from strong dealer appointments to a range of customers to talk to. Even though the Show hasn’t ended every boat on the stand has been sold at least once.”

Richard Winter of Vetus comments: “It has been a very good start to the Show with our new location.  We made sales on the first day and our B2B customers who are exhibiting at the Show have reported consistent sales which means we will be even better off at the end of the Show.”

Russell Hayden of Salterns Marina remarks: “This was our first time exhibiting our Sealegs Amphibious Craft and it has caused lots of buzz. We have met lots of clients we never knew existed, both recreational and commercial. The mixture of markets at the CWM FX London Boat Show can’t be compared to any other Show.”

Paul Hallatt of Ship Shape Bedding remarks: “We have done better at 2015’s CWM FX London Boat Show than we have done in any previous Boat Show and we have attended every London going back eight or nine years. We have noticed the market pick up at the last three Shows we have done but this year they don’t compete. The Show has a great atmosphere and positive environment; it really does feel like a Boat Show not an exhibition.”

Greg Munford, CEO of Richardson’s said: “This was the first time we have exhibited and did not know what to expect but the quality of visitors and prospects at the CWM FX London Boat Show has been amazing! Holidaying on the Norfolk Broads seems to have skipped two generations, but by having a boat here we have been able to demonstrate just how much it has improved in recent years. We will definitely be back next year and plan on bringing two boats rather than just one.”

Alastair Clayton, Managing Director, Seaglaze Marine Windows comments: “The reception of our new glass Toughening Plant couldn’t have been better, with many opportunities to network with both new and existing customers. We cannot wait to get back to the design office to get some of the new jobs into production, it certainly could not have been a better start to the New Year.”

Peter May, Finance Director of Bisham Abbey Sailing & Navigation School commented: “The 2015 CWM FX London Boat Show was the 19th consecutive time we exhibited at the event and it has been much better for us than last year. There have been more visitors to the stand and more people who have an active interest in boating and who genuinely want to find out more about training. Our stand position has been great, the flow of people to our stand has been constant and because of the staggered aisles, the Show seems less daunting for the visitors. We were also very privileged to welcome HRH The Princess Royal and Paralympic gold medallist Helena Lucas to our stand. We will definitely be returning next year.”

Mathew Hornsby, Managing Director of Williams Performance Tenders, commented: “The CWM FX London Boat Show has been a very strong and active Show for us – we’ve been selling boats straight off the stand and we also have a number of demonstrations lined-up for the next few weeks. Our new Sportjet range has really been the star of the Show for us. The Sportjet 520, which had its world debut here at the Show, along with the Sportjet 460 have both been extremely  popular, drawing great interest as a stand-alone boat – we’re delighted with the reception both models have received. We’ve also completed several part exchanges, which were now able to complete through our new UK dealer This year’s Show really has exceeded our expectations, and is a great start to what is going to be another exciting year for Williams.”

Ron Price, Southampton Solent University: “We have now sold 26 Solent Whisper catamarans since our boat show publicity started in December. During the CWM FX London Show we had enquiries and orders from buyers and distributors in over a dozen countries worldwide, including China, America, France and The Netherlands, and sailing schools in both Spain and Turkey. The interest in the boat at the show has been phenomenal, from both the public and media alike and as result the Whisper racing class will be kicking off in May this year starting with racing in Karnack in France,  hotly followed by Lake Garda in July.”

Paul Heys, Managing Director Key Yachting: “This was by far the busiest London Boat Show we’ve seen in several years. Our new Nautitech Open 40, the only cruising catamaran at the show, was full of activity throughout the week. We will definitely need to hire more staff next year!”

Tom Atkins of Volspec comments: “At this year’s CWM FX London Boat Show there has been more people visiting with a real interest and intention to buy. The Show offers us a platform to meet both new and existing customers.”

For sure the 86 Yacht will turn out to be a real darling of the public, it is recommend to make an appointment before!

Sunseeker 75 Yacht

Also the little sister of the 86 Yacht, the 75 Yacht, which also will be presented on German ground for the first time, will attract many visitors: her elegant design with her striking big hull windows and the optional carbon-hardtop will stand out from the crowd. Comfort and performance are two important additional properties of this breath-taking yacht.

The Manhattan 65 presents herself elegant, sporty and versatile – the classical flybridge Newcomer convinces at first sight with its sleek sculpted lines and its perfect finish. No less impressive than the four Newcomers is the Manhattan 55, which since her introduction is one of very popular models from the Sunseeker range.

Sunseeker partners at boot 2015

As an important regular for many years at boot, Sunseeker is part of the boat show’s success story and will also be on board in 2015. At the famous and well-known location in hall 6 Sunseeker will convince with a spectacular booth that certainly will become a constant visitor magnet at this boat show. As in the last few years, Land Rover will be also present at the booth. Both brands have more in common than their British origin: same as Land Rover, Sunseeker is one of the topaddresses since decades in its sector and is a synonym for innovative design, great interior design and fascinating products. The Sunseeker booth is therefore the perfect location for the get-together of these two companies. According to the motto “Best of British” this year Sunseeker has a new partner on board, the favourite champagne brand from Prince William and Kate, the British couple heir to the throne. Pol Roger, a champagne brand which is already famous in Great Britain, is getting more and more popular also in Germany. Pol Roger will exclusively be served in the Sunseeker Owners Lounge. As hotel partner Sunseeker is more than happy to welcome again the Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf on board. The recent cooperation with this 5-star top-hotel in the maritime environment of the Medienhafen in Düsseldorf has opened doors for more interesting cooperations.

Williams Performance Tenders is looking forward to an amazing year ahead, as it plans further expansion of its factory as well as workforce, following a very successful 2014.

In early 2015, Williams will extend the size of its factory in Oxford by 6,000 square feet and will recruit five additional members of staff, in order to meet growing demand for the brand’s Dieseljet and newly-launched Sportjet ranges.

2014 was an exceptionally strong year for Williams, as the company celebrated its 10 year anniversary in July, as well as its strongest ever order book. The company also saw increasing levels of business from volume sailboat manufacturers such as Hanse and Group Beneteau with its Prestige range. Both these manufacturers, along with other key brands such as Princess and Sunseeker, have designed their garages specifically to fit a Williams tender, providing a glowing endorsement of the brand’s popularity and appeal.

Furthermore, the 2014 Southampton Boat Show saw Williams take home the Sunseeker Supplier of the Year award, in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance in meeting Sunseeker’s most demanding requirements.

Mathew Hornsby, Sales Director at Williams, said: “2014 was an incredible year for Williams, with the world launch of our new Sportjet range at the Yachting Festival de Cannes and our fantastic 10 year celebration. We also saw our best results yet at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October. We are starting 2015 in a strong position and are very excited about what the year ahead will bring. We look forward to welcoming talented new members of staff to the team and continuing to grow the Williams brand.”

Founded by brothers Mathew and John Hornsby in 2004, Williams has established itself as the world’s leading jet tender specialist, renowned for design excellence and practical attention to detail across its range of Turbojet, Dieseljet and Sportjet models. The company currently employs 50 staff at its Oxfordshire base and is supported by a global team of factory trained engineers. Williams produces up to 700 boats per year and had a turnover of £11.2M in 2013.

“The line-up of exhibitors at this year’s PIMEX, both in-the-water and onshore, is one of the best yet, a strong sign of the strength of Thailand’s marine and lifestyle industry. Yachting and lifestyle brands from around the world are displaying here in Phuket at PIMEX, underscoring PIMEX’s position as the consumer boat show in the region and Phuket as the marine playground for Asia,” said Mr. Andy Dowden, PIMEX Show Director.

With over 6 Billion Baht of product on display, PIMEX 2015 is set to break records.

At 51, this year sees one of the largest boat displays at PIMEX ever. From the smallest at less than 20 foot and priced under 2,000,000 Baht, the boats grow in size and price with seventeen over 20 metres in length including large motor yachts from Sunseeker, Princess, Monte Carlo Yachts and Sanlorenzo. The largest boat on display this year is a Custom Line NEXT 112 superyacht valued at approximately 430,000,000 Baht and which forms part of a four boat display by Lee Marine.

Two iconic British yacht brands, Sunseeker and Princess Yachts, are showing in numbers this year. Sunseeker, popularly known for being James Bond’s yacht of choice, have four large powerboats on display including the stunning charter yacht Predator 92, while Princess Yachts are showing four boats in the water as well as brokerage and luxury yacht charter offerings through local dealer Boat Lagoon Yachting.

Elsewhere in the marina are boats from Cranchi, Majesty, Gulf Craft, Azimut, Bavaria, Moody and Wider Yachts Asia. Derani Yachts have expanded to a new location at the end of Docks C and D and are showing a number of boats, the largest being a San Lorenzo 72 (example is charter yacht Lolea), while Simpson Marine have a large display with six boats including a selection from the Monte Carlo shipyard, a brand which they launched into Asia with much success at PIMEX 2014.

Ideally suited to cruising the Andaman region, multihulls are growing in popularity and this is reflected with an increase in the number of multihulls on display this year. Multihull Solutions are showcasing popular designs from Fountaine Pajot and Privilege while Northrop & Johnson’s display includes the new Thai-built solar power-assisted luxury catamaran Heliotrope 65.

Onshore, the exhibitor line-up mirrors that of the in-water display both in terms of size and quality, and also in variety. Luxury auto brands Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Aston Martin, BMW and Mini are all debuting at PIMEX, and are joined by a collection of luxury real estate, marine and lifestyle products and services.

“The show continues to develop and I am happy to say it looks great again this year. We’ve improved the design and layout of the show for both exhibitors and visitors and our marketing has stretched all around the world. I’m looking forward to a busy and successful four days for all,” added Dowden.

PIMEX is open Thursday 8th January to Saturday 10th January from 12:00 – 20:00, and on Sunday 11th January from 12:00 – 18:00. Entry is free.

Sunseeker has taken the concept of series building with personal customisation one step further.  The modular build methodology enables the new owners to have substantial personal input into the interior design and layout via the yards ‘Bespoke’ service. The stunning images reveal the impressive new layout and design of this latest custom interior.

The Sunseeker team is approaching the halfway stage in the construction process with the hull, deck and superstructure fully moulded, engines and gearbox installed and painting of the superstructure underway.   The traditional ‘all white’ yacht will now move into the second stage of development, which will see the interior brought to glorious life by the talented Sunseeker team.

Luxury yacht Project Gold Diamond is an impressive fusion of engineering perfection and truly breathtaking design.  Featuring an elegant interior throughout, it has a more ‘classic’ feel than the first ‘155 Yacht’ superyacht Blush which has already reached the finalist stage of the renowned ShowBoats Design Awards 2015.

The new Project Gold Diamond yacht will be powered by an impressive Twin 16V 4000 series MTU M93, which will deliver an increased top speed of up to 24 knots.

Alongside the remarkable engineering and stunning exterior structure, the interior is sure to delight and inspire Sunseeker lovers across the world.  The master stateroom in particular, features spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows which create a dramatic feeling of light and space while offering the most spectacular views.

Boasting impressive accommodation with six cabins for up to 12 guests in ultimate style and luxury, the forward lower deck area can accommodate up to 10 crew with a separate captain’s cabin located adjacent to the wheelhouse.

The upper saloon features a full-length stone finished bar and an additional secondary dining area which offers a less formal dining experience than the principal arrangement located on the main deck.  Yet another highlight is the spectacular port-side balcony which offers uninterrupted views.

The 155 Yacht features exquisite design touches throughout but it is perhaps the addition of a sauna to the Beach Club which is creating the biggest stir with potential customers.  This extravagant feature is yet another example of the custom approach Sunseeker is able to consider when dealing with clients through its ‘Bespoke’ service.

Sean Robertson, Sales Director at Sunseeker International said: “The first 155 Yacht was a truly magnificent sight to behold and a stunning fusion of precision engineering and contemporary design.  Although a more ‘classic’ interpretation, the latest yacht will surely be met with the same reception when it is completed in early 2016 due to yet more innovative features and custom choices.

“As the largest yacht we have ever built, the 155 is testament to the dedication and passion of the Sunseeker team who bring together the very best of British engineering and design talent. We are immensely proud.”

The latest ‘Sunseeker 155 Yacht’ super yacht Project Gold Diamond is scheduled for completion in early 2016 and will be available for luxury yacht charter shortly after.
