March 15, 2013

Following the recently concluded 2013 Dubai Boat Show, the prominent Italian builder, Sanlorenzo, is proud to announce the delivery of the beautiful 40Alloy yacht model to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, as well as Dubai Ruler. Luxury yacht 40Alloy was successfully delivered on the very occasion of the most important yachting show in the Middle East, the Dubai International Boat Show (March 5th-9th), where she had been on display for the whole exhibition, docked at the Sanlorenzo’s stand.

The building of the Sheikh’s superyacht 40Alloy at the Sanlorenzo’s shipyards, in Italy, took about one year and afterwards it was shipped to the Middle East thanks to a special cargo transport.

Departed from Genoa, the cargo cruised the Mediterranean Sea till the Suez Canal, where it entered the Red Sea and finally arrived in Dubai after about 15 days.

Immediately recognizable for the four exclusive terraces overlooking the sea, the Arab owner’s 40Alloy yacht was designed with modern and elegant interiors: a combination of contrasting and exclusive woods like the olive ash for the furniture and the burned oak for the floors.

For the bathrooms the owner chose Fossena stone and limestone Malayat, while the fabrics for curtains and upholstery are the natural lineum, the natural hand leather and the Nabuk suade.

There are no dining tables on the main deck, because they are both located on the upper deck (inside and outside) where, thanks to an adjustable structure, they can host up to 12 guests.

On the lower deck, 2 double and 2 triple cabins can accommodate up to 10 guests, while the crew is composed by 6 members and a captain.

Regarding the performance, thanks to the two MTU 2775 HP engines, the maximum speed of the Sanlorenzo superyacht 40Alloy is 28 knots and the cruising speed approximately 25 knots.

Sanlorenzo confirmed also in 2013 its third position in the world ranking of the top 20 builders over 24 metres (source: Global Order Book 2013) and since its foundation over 50 years ago, the production has always been based on few motoryachts per year, totally unique and customized according to the requests and the style of every single owner.

The countdown to the 21st Dubai International Boat Show is almost over

February 20, 2013

The countdown to the 21st Dubai International Boat Show is almost over and the preparations for the leading yacht event in the Middle East, as well as one of the most highly anticipated marine fair’s in the world, are well underway.

Dubai International Boat Show

Dubai International Boat Show

Excitement at the Dubai International Marine Centre in Mina Seyahi is at fever pitch as the stands take shape and the exhibition centers are mounted. Organizers of the show, the Dubai World Trade Centre, are confident that this year’s yacht event will be even bigger and better than last year’s – already a proven success.

In 2012, a record number of Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAs) members attended the show and even more are expected to participate in this year’s event, which begins on March 5th. At the last count, there were no fewer than 30 new exhibitors across all sectors from as far afield as Malta, Tunisia and Malaysia who had signed up to attend the four-day show.

Without doubt the most popular facet of the Dubai International Boat Show is the display of superyachts and to date, the Dubai World Trade Centre has confirmed that an impressive total of 19 of the world’s most luxurious superyachts will be showcased this year in the Superyacht Pavilion.

Among the luxury brands that are currently en route for the UAE include Italian yachting giants Benetti, German shipbuilders Lürssen, American luxury shipyard Palmer Johnson, and Sanlorenzo, from Italy.

Indeed one of the highlights of the yacht launches this year will be the Sanlorenzo Alloy 40 yacht 111, a stunning motor yacht built at the shipyard in Northern Italy.

Another Italian firm that will be attending the yacht launch is Mondo Marine, from Savona, a specialist in superyachts which will be participating in the Dubai International Boat Show for the first time.

Trixee Loh, Senior Vice President of Dubai World Trade Centre, said
: “The Dubai International Boat Show is synonymous with luxury yachting, and is the perfect opportunity for superyacht builders to market their high-end products to a burgeoning audience. The development of the Superyacht Experience pavilion supports the growing demand for superyachts in this lucrative market from regional buyers.”

Fourth quarter of Rodriguez Group’s financial year 2011/2012 marked by sale of Italyachts 50M superyacht AZUL

November 20, 2012

September 30 saw the RODRIGUEZ GROUP complete the fourth quarter of its financial year 2011/2012. This was marked by the sale of its new 50-metre motor yacht Azul. The spectacular 165’ superyacht Azul is a result of the successful partnership between RODRIGUEZ GROUP and the ITALYACHTS SHIPYARD.

Italyachts 50M superyacht Azul sold by Rodriguez Group

Italyachts 50M superyacht Azul sold by Rodriguez Group

Barely two months after delivery, in July 2012, of its two main units over 40 metres – the 40 ALLOY motor yacht 111 by SANLORENZO and the 43-metre ITALYACHTS superyacht Azul – the success of the new range of large RODRIGUEZ GROUP yachts materialized with the sale of the 165′ all-aluminium superyacht Azul.

Created in the summer of 2010, the Italyachts 50M yacht Azul was conceived and developed by the RODRIGUEZ GROUP sales teams, in collaboration with the Italian naval architect Andrea Bacigalupo, to whom the boat owes its streamlined shape and the perfect mix between living capacity (five cabins, including an owner’s suite with access to the main deck, an upper deck opening onto a large terrace equipped with a bar, solarium and Jacuzzi) and sailing speed.

Powered by Rolls Royce hydrojets and two MTU 2600Hp engines, the exceptional Azul yacht can reach 30 knots with a draught not exceeding 1.75 metres: a feat for a unit of this size.

With three large units delivered or sold during the summer of 2012, the RODRIGUEZ GROUP confirms the pertinence of its business plan, which aims to anticipate, and even create, the needs of its customers.

The turnover for boat sales thus came to €29.9 million in the 2nd half of 2011/2012 (period from 1st April to 30th September 2012), an increase of 4% compared to the 2nd half of 2010/2011 where the boat sales generated a turnover of €28.7 million.

For the financial year 2011/2012, boat sales recorded a total turnover of close to €50 million, compared to €70.8 million the previous year.

This drop in turnover calls for two comments:

- it is partly a consequence of the drop in turnover linked to the sale of second-hand yachts, going from €17 million in the financial year 2010/2011 to €8.4 million this past year; as announced by the RODRIGUEZ GROUP, the policy of clearing stock and limitation of trade-ins was successful, with the sale of the last large vessels from the old stock;

- THE RODRIGUEZ GROUP now favours the generation of a turnover that generates margin, by focusing on the design and sale of large new units with longer production times (the first 165’ Azul yacht will be delivered in 2014) rather than volume.

Today, sales of new boats represent 83% of the boat sales, compared to 76% for the financial year 2010/2011.

For the management of the RODRIGUEZ GROUP the improvement of this ratio is the concrete materialisation of strategic directions taken by the Group over the past two years, organized around two important mainstays:

- the development of the range toward very large yachts, while keeping the technical and design features of the very first RODRIGUEZ GROUP models;

- the development of the key factors to the Group’s success, deployed in a variety of forms through the numerous services provided to its customers and potential customers.

Consequently, the Services business confirms its strong performance of previous years, by generating a turnover of €28.3 million for the financial year 2011/2012, in line with the €29.2 million recorded for the year 2010/2011.

The 11% decrease recorded for the fourth quarter of 2011/2012 (€8.6 million turnover, compared to €9.6 million the previous year) is only the result of the anticipated start of the 2012 season.

More than ever, the good health of the Services business affirms the RODRIGUEZ GROUP as a major player in all the occupations of the yachting business.

Ultimately, the overall consolidated turnover of the Group amounted to €77.9 million for the financial year 2011/2012. THE RODRIGUEZ GROUP is particularly pleased with the good performance achieved in second half of the year, where the consolidated turnover reached €47.7 million, in line with the level achieved in the second half of 2010/2011.

It is on this very positive note that THE RODRIGUEZ GROUP exclusively presented at the Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes in September 2012 the latest addition to its range of Sport Fly boats, a 102’ superyacht built by the Italian shipyards, CERRI.

Cerri 102' superyacht

Cerri 102' superyacht

The enthusiastic response to this new boat by industry professionals attending the show, who unanimously praised its line, elegance and comfort, promises an equally favourable reception by those who love fast boats.

By means of a realistic and effective development policy, THE RODRIGUEZ GROUP continues, season after season, the construction of its new economic model and progressively consolidating the fundamentals of its turnaround.

Key events of the past quarter
The fourth quarter of 2011/2012 was marked by the following events:

- the sale of the new generation 40 ALLOY motor yacht 111 by SANLORENZO, marketed exclusively by the RODRIGUEZ GROUP;

- the delivery of a new 43-metre ITALYACHTS (150’ Azul), the third unit in the range produced by ITALYACHTS since 2010 ;

- the sale of the 50-metre ITALYACHTS megayacht (165’ Azul), an aluminium yacht with innovative technology and outstanding technical performance;

- the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the RODRIGUEZ GROUP trademark, four decades of pleasure and passion for Luxury Yachting celebrated in Saint-Tropez during the 18th RODRIGUEZ RENDEZ-VOUS in the company of group’s partners and customers;

- publication of the consolidated turnover of the 3rd quarter of 2011/2012.

RODRIGUEZ GROUP will publish this coming December 13th its annual results for the financial year 2011/2012.

RODRIGUEZ GROUP is listed in compartment C of the Eurolist Paris (ISIN code: FR0000062994).

Sanlorenzo motor yacht SL118

September 25, 2012

One of three new Sanlorenzo models, unveiled during the annual meeting at Yacht Club de Monaco in Monaco on September 21, was the splendid SL118 superyacht. Motor yacht SL118 belongs to the planing hull motoryacht range – a strong point of this prestigious Italian builder for more than three decades.

Sanlorenzo luxury motor yacht SL118

Sanlorenzo luxury motor yacht SL118

The flagship of this fleet is luxury yacht SL 108, almost 35 meters, followed, three years ago, by SL 104 (an example can be motor yacht Indigo), nearly 33 meters, the number one of the new course of the range, enriched by more modern marks, but respectful of the unmistakable Sanlorenzo style.

In the outlook of an extended renovation of this range the yard felt the requirement, also from customers, of a new flagship, of a larger size with more spaces and more advanced solutions.

This is the origin of SL 118, purest Sanlorenzo SL line, interpreted in a bigger way and strengthened with avant-garde features. The yacht is a semi-wide body in the front part, but with the volumes exceptionally well integrated in the profile of the boat thanks to the windows shaping and the contrast of black and white between windows and superstructure, that exalts the family feeling connoting the range.

Superyacht SL118 by Sanlorenzo

Superyacht SL118 by Sanlorenzo

On the new flagship one can find some elements already encountered on SL 104, as the large salon windows, the metal grey painted pillars, the transparent handrail of the flying bridge to always allow a pleasant view from the boat top, the transom with the teak hand rail and the steel frieze.

The more than 36 meters Loa combined with the semi-wide body configuration allow unusual spaces, as the well organized sunbathing area in front or the folding terraces on the sides of the owner suite and the salon amid ship, as on the famous and multi awarded 40 Alloy (an example is motor yacht 111).

The style of the yacht is expressing an extended modernity and a spread innovation through out all the boat. The helm station for instance, placed on the half deck, is a concentrate of ergonomic advanced solutions with the four control system screens each individually standing, and the navigator corner as on a commercial aircraft.

The interior layout and decoration is expressing even more freely, a limitless conception of the interior space full of proposals and charm. A wide use of double glazing as bulkheads on the lower deck permits to separate the guest cabins leaving the light flowing through the space and consenting a total view of the full beam. The sound proofing is guaranteed and privacy is obtained simply lowering the curtains each cabin has.

A skilful and courageous lighting system hidden over the canvas roofs can softly spread the light from the spots that remain invisible when not in use during the day.

Light colors, straight lines, resin floors, sanded wood on the bulkheads on the main deck give a relaxing atmosphere to the space. All the windows in the salon are opening and combined with he folding terraces give to the living area a positive and natural relation interior/exterior to better an totally enjoy the seascape.

The stair case connecting the main deck to the flying bridge is in glass and the stair has suspended steps, as more than once applied on the 40 Alloy.

Sanlorenzo luxury superyacht SL118

To ensure low power consumption much attention has been paid to the weight. All fiberglass products are in fact constructed by the infusion process. The interior cells cabins housing modules are supported by aluminum frames floating ensuring also an excellent sound insulation and anti-vibration. The flagship of Sanlorenzo is also prepared for the installation of a plant for the biological treatment of all waters on board. The system brings the boat into compliance with the most restrictive and recent legislation on environmental pollution.

The transom door opens on a wide garage becoming a large beach club. In the engine room two Mtus with 1,939 kW (2,600 HP) push SL 118 up to 28 knots max speed, with a cruising speed of 24 knots.

The new Sanlorenzo motor yacht SD110 with delivery in summer 2013

September 25, 2012

Scheduled for delivery in summer 2013, the newest Sanlorenzo motor yacht SD110 was officially revealed during the annual meeting at the Yacht Club de Monaco in Montecarlo, held on Friday 21st September. SD 110 superyacht belongs to the semi-displacement range of yachts. Its entry model is luxury charter yacht SD 92, launched in 2007. SD 92 boasts an elegant as well as balanced style that can concentrate in a relatively small size a high quantity of fascination and composition elements.

Sanlorenzo motor yacht SD 110

Sanlorenzo motor yacht SD 110

One model cannot form a range, so in 2008 Sanlorenzo launched the larger sister with the same concept of modern and mature semi-displacement hull, able to sail long range with little fuel, highly comfortable and quiet under power. Superyacht SD 122 (an example is motor yacht Souraya), the three decked yacht built by the Viareggio yard, was awarded in 2010 by the World Superyacht Award as “best Superyacht in the 30 to 39 metres category”.

Ten metres gap between the two model are too many and thanks to a satisfactory welcoming of the SD range by the market, Sanlorenzo, despite the difficult situation of the economy, decided to launch a 34 metres, the missing joining link between the 27 metres of SD 92 yacht and the 37 metres of SD 122 superyacht. Its name is motor yacht SD 110 and since the first glance the strong family feeling, the common elements of the design, the shape of the windows, in front and on the sides, place perfectly the new yacht in the intermediate space between the two previous models.

Five years after the first superyacht SD 92, the experiences built up with more than 30 SD units floating allowed to put together a number of improvements that make SD 110 a perfect yacht. Perfectly balanced in size, perfectly balanced in volumes and spaces, SD 110 summarize the qualities of both models, proposing more rather than a synthesis, the completion of a very successful range.

Superyacht SD110 - rear view

Superyacht SD110 - rear view

The superstructure is three decked, but thanks to sharp design tricks it has the slim look of a two deck yacht. The sun deck is very roomy and can fulfil the multiple functions of sunbathing, relaxing, bathing in the whirlpool and steering, thanks to the second helm station, as on SD 92, but with the spaces of SD 122, keeping the naval touch of the “funnel”, typical of the SD range.

On the upper deck there is a semi-circular glass door one can open completely to join interior and exterior in a very huge space for a large dining room that can be inside and outside at the same time. A solution of a large megayacht, for a mature clientele.

On the main deck is the large salon that can be upgraded with he optional foldable terraces, like on 40 Alloy (an example can be 111 superyacht), giving to the room extraordinary light and air. After the lobby and the staircase, where one enters through the side rounded doors, again as in a megayacht, in front there is the master cabin, with office, walk-in closet and his and her bathrooms.

Sanlorenzo superyacht SD110 - Exterior

Sanlorenzo superyacht SD110

The lower deck hosts two double and two twin guest cabins. A particular solution is the perception of the round hull shape on the side of the cabins, as in a sailing yacht.

In front is the crew quarter with the captain’s cabin independent. The interior decoration is strongly recalling the ship inspiration of the SD series and on luxury yacht SD 110 one can choose among different kind of wood, from the classical mahogany to the delicate sycamore, but always inspired by the spirit of long range, comfortable, relaxing navigation.

Great attention has been paid to technical spaces, in front and aft, and to the garage to keep and easy handle all the tools for mooring, for fun, for transportation, everything always ready to use.

Superyacht SD110 - Interior

Superyacht SD110 - Interior

The aft platform is sliding to form a wide beach at water level, once again suitable for a 50 metre yacht, much enjoyable thanks to valid sound proofing solutions as the underwater exhausts of the gensets not disturbing he guests diving.

The engine room with two Mtus 12V 2000 M72 with 1,080 kW (1,470 HP) is completed by a control room, again a solution usually adopted on larger yachts. The semi-displacement hull tank tested is bulbous and allows a max peed of 17 knots, with a 2,500 nautical mile range at 11 knots, thanks to 25,000 litres of fuel and to the possibility to sail single engine. An advanced electric stabilizing system assure a smooth navigation in any condition.
