Getting to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) will be easier than ever this year, whether arriving by car, boat or even by helicopter. Organisers have prepared a great selection of transport options to cater to large crowd numbers expected at this year’s event, which will take place from Thursday 23 May to Sunday 26 May, from 9am to 5pm.

SCIBS sales, sponsorship and events manager Johan Hasser said a wide spectrum of transport options were available to cater to all visitors. “Getting to the Show this year will be made easy thanks to the return of free Park ‘n’ Ride services available at Warner Bros. A free Park ‘n’ Ride service is available across the four days of SCIBS from Warner Bros. Movie World, enabling visitors to park their vehicles at the nearby theme park free of charge and travel the short distance to Sanctuary Cove via luxury coach.

No bookings are required for this service and tickets are $15.00 per head return, with kids 12 years-old and under free.

The ‘Castille III’ will depart daily from the front of Waterline Restaurant at Gold Coast City Marina during the show. This service will depart on the hour from 8.00am until 6.00pm, with the last run from Sanctuary Cove at 6.30pm. Cost – $10.00 per person (one-way).

The Volunteer Marine Rescue Service will also operate a ferry pick up service from private boats to the marina entrance for an Australian currency gold coin donation per passenger.

BY HELICOPTER

Thrill seekers are also catered for with Gold Coast Helitours providing helicopter rides from Marina Mirage, Jupiters Casino and the Gold Coast and Brisbane Airports.

Helicopter transfers will be available from the Marina Mirage Heliport for $100 one way and $180 return. SCIBS to launch spectacular 25th anniversary event in May

April 09, 2013

Organisers of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) have prepared plans for an amazing event this year to celebrate a quarter of a century since the event’s inception. The 25th annual SCIBS, taking place from May 23 to 26, will feature a raft of international boating brands and marine products, as well as an exciting entertainment line-up.

SCIBS

SCIBS government, industry and international relations manager Barry Jenkins, who has worked on the Boat Show for each of its 25 years, said the upcoming show would be a celebration of its evolution into an internationally-renowned event for the marine industry.

“This is a great achievement for SCIBS and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic show for visitors and those in the boating industry to enjoy,” he said.

“Many of the exhibitors who came to the boat show in its inaugural year will return in 2013 to celebrate this milestone.

“There will also be a strong turnout of first time exhibitors which will make for a great mix of stalwarts and fresh faces.”

Mr Jenkins said this year promised an exciting line-up of boating brands, with tinnies to superyachts and everything in between on show.

In its first Queensland appearance, Horizon Motor Yachts will showcase its 110 foot P110 Tri Deck yacht, while local manufacturer and long-time SCIBS supporter Maritimo will bring a fleet of its finest superyachts for a spectacular on-water display.

This year’s entertainment offering will add to the excitement, with the Channel 7 stage returning with a host of daily live music acts including various local and national artists as well as roving musicians entertaining visitors throughout the Marine Village.

Daily cooking demonstrations, stand-up paddle boarding displays and crowd favourite JetLev’s water-powered jetpack performances are also among the festivities planned.

Marine industry icon and Maritimo founder Bill Barry-Cotter said reaching 25 years spoke volumes for the popularity and success of the Boat Show.

“I have personally been involved in the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show since its inception and it has a reputation nationally and internationally as one of the best on-water boat shows in existence,” he said.

Mr Barry-Cotter said Maritimo was celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and would mark the occasion by hosting one of the largest displays at SCIBS.

“We look forward to displaying a number of exciting new and recently released models to the boating public,” he said.

“Our recently released M58 cruising motor yacht and the new M50 will be displayed at SCIBS for the first time and will showcase perfectly the level of quality, style, design and luxury that we as a leading Australian manufacturer are able to achieve.”

Mulpha Sanctuary Cove executive general manager Keith Allardice said the Boat Show’s success reflected the tireless efforts of its team and the ongoing support of exhibitors and visitors.

He said more than 260 exhibitors had already signed up to participate in this year’s SCIBS and the team was expecting strong visitor numbers over the four day event.

“Exhibitor bookings are still coming through so there will be a great variety of boating and lifestyle displays on offer for the whole family,” he said.

Mr Allardice said he was confident that SCIBS would continue to flourish well into the future and shine the spotlight on Sanctuary Cove and its unique attributes and lifestyle benefits.

Those making their ticket purchase online before May 22, 2013 automatically go in the draw to win a three-night luxury escape to spectacular Hayman Island Resort including breakfast daily, transfers and return economy airfares valued at $5500.

Superior Jetties will once again be a key contributor to SCIBS with an on-water display featuring its most popular marine products including boat lifts, pontoons and Jet Ski docks.

For more than 25 years Superior has provided high quality marine flotation and industrial products through both domestic and international dealers.

Superior’s chief executive officer John Hogan said it was a great achievement to be jointly celebrating 25 years having been a contributor to the Boat Show and the industry since its inception.

“In this time Superior has proudly represented the Gold Coast and grown from a small jetty manufacturer to an international supplier of world class marina and docking product for the industry,” said Mr Hogan.

Superior Jetties is known throughout the marine industry as a unique and innovative design led company with well over two decades of experience and an emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction.

Superior will have its market leading Sunstream Float Lift on display at this year’s SCIBS which is suitable for vessels from one to sixteen tonnes.

Mr Hogan said the market’s reception to the boat lift had been overwhelming.

“The Sunstream Lift is a market leader because of its innovative design, vessel launch and retrieval speeds,” said Mr Hogan.

“We proudly support the Sunstream brand and are looking for agents throughout the east coast.”

Superior’s boat lifting floating solutions can be quickly and easily installed on a pontoon or marina berth with an optional awning fitted to protect the boat from weather conditions, and a remote control.

The range of Superior pontoons are manufactured and installed to the highest possible standard and boast style and elegance as well as durability.

There are four distinct pontoon styles for both domestic and commercial applications including the Capri series featuring a full aluminium super structure with timber or composite decking.

Superior has also recently launched a mobile website which is accessible from over 5500 mobile devices and caters for the 25 per cent of its monthly users being mobile based.

Sanctuary Cove Boat Show 2013: Marine industry’s must-attend Queensland event

March 04, 2013

The upcoming Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will cement its position as the marine industry’s must-attend Queensland event by providing its strongest consumer as well as commercial mix in 25 years.

Mulpha Sanctuary Cove sales, sponsorship and events manager Johan Hasser said this year’s event would have plenty to offer marine industry players and boating enthusiasts alike.

“Our event this year really underscores that SCIBS is the place where the marine industry does business,” he said.

“We have a diverse and extensive range of exhibitors from across Australia and overseas to ensure this is the place where industry players rub shoulders.

“At the same time we have an unprecedented variety of activities, events and experiences for boaties and their families.

“We are bringing the industry and their public together while providing both with the experiences and opportunities they are looking for.”

This year will see Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia unveil an innovative opportunity for their members to “test the waters” of exhibiting their business.

The AIMEX and Superyacht Australia HUB pavilion will have an area of small pod-style booths for members who would otherwise just attend and walk the show. It will be bordered by key exhibitors creating a one stop shop for visitors and business connections.

Regular exhibitor Dylan Lopez, of Coomera-based Sirocco Marine North, said SCIBS was the mecca for Queensland’s marine fraternity.

“SCIBS epitomises the large luxury boat lifestyle and it is where the key players gather,” he said.

“That is the sector my business services, so I need to be here to connect with them.”

Mr Lopez said Sanctuary Cove provided the best venue for a boat show in Australia.

“From an exhibitor’s point of view, the location is amazing with the Marine Village, InterContinental Hotel and people living in the environment,” he said.

“The unique atmosphere of SCIBS is what differentiates it from other shows across Australia.”

Long-time exhibitor Scott Wilson, of Molendinar-based Swift Marine, said SCIBS was the best boat show from the perspectives of sales and enjoyment.

“We need to go to a show at least once a year to get our product out there and this is the one we have chosen,” he said.

“SCIBS always has an enjoyable carnival atmosphere and it a great location.

“If you have to spend time at work as an exhibitor it might as well be somewhere that is pleasant and entertaining that sets people – including exhibitors – up for a great experience.”

Mr Wilson – who has exhibited most years since the show’s 1989 inception – said the event provided sustained economic benefits to his business which manufactures rigid inflatable craft.

“We do quite a few sales at the show but it also sets us up for the rest of the year because we have people coming back to us 8 to 12 months later,” he said.

The 2013 Boat Show will showcase a raft of international boating brands, products and technologies on display alongside the superb backdrop of the award-winning Sanctuary Cove marina and The Marine Village.

Among the 39 exhibitors making their SCIBS debut are Arnold’s Boat Shop, Dutch Sloop and Pantaenius Australia who will be accompanied by some of the biggest names in the boating business.

Owner and managing director of the recently launched online-based Arnold’s Boat Shop Arnold le Rutte said SCIBS was a not-to-be-missed promotional opportunity in the business’ crucial inaugural year.

“We started planning the business two years ago and as part of our industry research we attended the Boat Show last year as visitors, which made us realise it was something we wanted to be a part of,” he said.

“In order for us to build awareness of our brand it’s really important that we position ourselves at the coalface of the marine industry – with SCIBS being one of the biggest boat shows in the country, we couldn’t pass it up.

“As an online-based company, this is the perfect opportunity to get in front of our clients and suppliers and network with industry stalwarts.”

As well as the new exhibitors, some of the marine industry’s biggest names have joined the SCIBS line-up, including Westport, Horizon Motor Yachts, Maritimo and Queensland Marine Centre.

“The pace here for organisers is picking up more and more every week and it’s great to see exhibitor bookings are gaining momentum as well,” he said.

“There’s a feeling of confidence re-emerging within the boating industry as we see exhibitors who haven’t been for a few years also returning.

“It’s encouraging to see some of the big names in the marine industry are signed up.”

“We’re urging exhibitors to sign up as soon as possible as we have a number of deadlines to meet and we want to ensure they benefit from the full SCIBS experience.”

A number of past exhibitors will be welcomed back this year including Wichard and Profurl, which has positioned itself as a world leader in marine fittings.

Wichard and Profurl director Gaelle Marks said the business was looking forward to coming back to the show with a range of new products for their exclusive traders-only client base.

“We feel the marine industry is gathering pace this year and that’s one reason why we’re returning,” she said.

“We also have new products secured which were not available in 2012 so that’s really pushed us along as well.

“We want to get out there again and really show our client base as well as potential boat owners what Wichard and Profurl have to offer and we see SCIBS as an opportunity to do that.”

Horizon P110 Tri Deck Yacht to be displayed at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show 2013

February 14, 2013

Australasia’s top superyacht builder, Horizon, is sure to make waves and attract plenty of attention when it ties up at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS). The Horizon P110 Tri Deck yacht is expected to be one of the largest vessels on display at SCIBS 2013. It will be the first time the superyacht has been showcased in the sunshine state.

Sanctuary Cove-based Horizon Motor Yachts Australia will join hundreds of exhibitors at the four day event to be staged at the spectacular Sanctuary Cove Marina and Marine Village from May 23 to 26.

The show’s visitors will be among the first Queenslanders to inspect the Horizon P110 superyacht, which boasts dual 1900hp Caterpillar diesel engines and, as the name suggests, three levels of deck space.

HMYA sales manager Sean Madgwick said the 110-foot (33.5m) P110 yacht was the biggest Horizon to be imported to Australasia and the newest superyacht on the market at the moment.

“This is the crème de la crème of new superyachts on the market in the region – it is the best of the best and built for the Australian market,” he said.

“A huge amount of work has gone into the interior design as well as the latest technology and state-of-the art engineering full of redundancy systems, which makes this vessel the perfect balance between the owner’s privacy and the crew’s safety.”

Featuring palatial custom interiors and the ultimate in luxury living, the floating penthouse is capable of taking eight guests plus a crew of four on a very comfortable cruise around the Pacific Islands.

Those lucky enough to be aboard have the use of six bedrooms including the massive master suite (32.6sqm) with dressing room, six bathrooms, expansive living, dining and deck areas, a hydraulic lowering swim platform and a heated jacuzzi on the spacious fly bridge.

The plush air-conditioned interior includes Italian lighting, marble or granite counter tops, hotel-grade mattresses, wooden floors and panelling, and WIFI.

Mr Madgwick said the superyacht’s $9.9 million tag represented a discount on its regular asking price of closer to $10.9 million.

“We have reduced the price as a sweetener,” he said.

“We are keen to get the Horizon P110 out there in the Australian market so that we can bring another one over.”

Mr Madgwick said clients from as far afield as Melbourne and Western Australia were interested in the Horizon P110 superyacht.

The luxury dealership was founded by Russell Wright who began importing Horizon Yachts in 2006.
