Cantalupi – THE Italian Yacht Lighting

February 01, 2012

Cantalupi, for decades THE leaders in yacht lighting, are based in Viareggio, Italy. To keep their leading position has been always very challenging and rewarding for them in terms of new technologies and patents developed, new concepts and designs introduced to the market and a unique lighting experience now available to the owners of the best yachts in the world.

Today Cantalupi delivers an environmentally friendly yacht lighting experience that take its clients well into the 21st century. Its services complement the lighting fixtures with lighting controls, lighting calculations and the engineering of the complete lighting project.

For Cantalupi, light is an instrument with two souls. The first is lighting technology. Over the years, they have been following closely developments in the field, studying each new technique carefully and adapting them specifically for use in yachts. The second soul is visual perception, affecting the sensory impressions linked to the illumination of a space.

Cantalupi´s mastery over the source of light lies in their control over these two components. And that´s what makes the difference between mere lighting and the design of light, a design that brings forth the best aspects of architecture.

The L.E.D. design

L.E.D. lighting comes from electronics. And electronics is at the heart of all Cantalupi´s lighting components, which is what they have studied, defined and programmed to perfection in order to ensure control of light.

Cantalupi´s long history has been marked by frequent cooperation with the most important shipyards both in Italy and around the world, such as Azimut-Benetti Group, Ferretti Group, Perini Navi, Sunseeker, Princess, Proteksan Turquoise, Royal Huisman, Oceanco, Feadship, Amels, Lurssen, Nautor´s Swan, Trinity Yachts, and many others.

October 19, 2011

Especially remarkable, Arcadia superyacht is no steel-bound ice breaker but an elegant luxury yacht, constructed from aluminium, with some components fabricated in carbon composite. Motor yacht Arcadia was always envisaged by her owner as a globe-trotting gentleman’s yacht with the ability to go anywhere in comfort and style. Her Tony Castro design certainly alludes to high latitudes and explorer tendencies – a visual heritage that luxury yacht Arcadia has evidently been eager to live up to in real life.

Taking her departure from Christianshab, Greenland, on 2nd September, Arcadia superyacht crossed the Baffin Sea to Pond Inlet where she commenced her transit on the 5th of September. Under the command of Captain James Pizzaruso, Arcadia superyacht´s owner and guests experienced a stunning passage that included numerous polar bear sightings, fine and challenging weather and some exhilarating shore-side hiking.

Royal Huisman 36m superyacht Arcadia covered a total of 3,278 nautical miles, of which 1,587 were completed between Ilulissat and Cambridge Bay, and a further 1,691 between Cambridge bay and Nome, Alaska – beautiful yacht charter destination. The route from Pond Inlet took in Bylot Island, Devon Island, Prince Leopold Island, Fort Ross (Somerset Island), through Bellot Strait to Jenny Lind Island, Cambridge Bay (Victoria Island) and on to Nome Island via Banks Island, Beaufort Sea, Chukchi Sea and Bering Sea.

Before luxury yacht Arcadia departed for her adventorous high latitude cruise, she made preparations at the yard taking advantage of the huisfit program for general and mechanical service work, upgrades to computer and navigation systems and minor cosmetic repairs.

The owner of the Royal Huisman project 393 was drawn to the Hoek Design team by its reputation for creating modern classics and, more specifically, by the traditional concept the team proposed for this project. Her elegant hull shape, counter stern, sloping deckhouses and numerous other traditional features speak of civilised and leisurely sailing in a romantic former era. Yet her moderate draft underwater lines, cutter carbon rig and efficient sail handling systems will be extensively optimised for performance – the 48m project 393 by Royal Huisman will be more than capable of holding her own in the present day.

With naval architecture from Hoek Design and a magnificent interior to be conceived by Rhoades Young Design, sailing yacht 393 by Royal Huisman with owner’s project management by MCM (Newport) has the credentials to make her mark wherever her ocean tracks may take her.

Further details of this exceptional project will be released as it progresses through the more detailed phases of development.
