Sailing yacht C2227 was designed and created by the Perini Navi Group with additional consulting from Philippe Briand, and is the latest expression of the high standards of design, technology and quality that have always characterized Perini Navi yachts. Innovation, elegance and comfort at the highest levels possible are just some of the elements that have allowed the Perini Navi Group to distinguish itself over the years and successfully confirm the value of its brand, its team and of its products.

The interior layout of the Perini Navi hull C2227 was designed by the Perini Navi Design Office and will be completed in conjunction with the American interior design studio PH Design.

At the end of the year 2011 the Perini Group’s orders amount to about 170 million Euro, with six yachts sold and currently under construction. The Group has also invested in the construction of two sailing yacht hulls, of 38 and 60m, that can be sold and consigned within the next two years.

The past year has seen the launching of the sailing yacht Fidelis, a successful charter yacht that was the tenth yacht in the 56m series,  the 55m motor yacht Galileo G, the second launching to date of the Picchiotti brand’s Vitruvius® series; and superyacht Clan VIII, the fourth yacht in the 45m series.

With a fleet of 53 yachts on the water- 51 sailing yachts and two motor yachts- the Perini Navi Group is the world leader in the design and construction of large luxury superyachts. In 2007 the Group began to build motor yachts with the brand name Picchiotti and the series name Vitruvius, thus re-launching the historic Picchiotti shipyard acquired in the early 1990’s.

The Group is made up of the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio, Italy founded in the 1980’s by Fabio Perini who invented and developed a revolutionary automatic sail control system. Another division is the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia where the Group constructs its motor yachts and concentrates most of its refitting work, and the Perini Istanbul shipyard in Yildiz, Turkey where its hulls and deck structures are produced. Perini Navi USA is a commercial division of the Group for both new and previously owned Perini Navi Group yachts.

Picchiotti Vitruvius motor yacht Galileo G by Perini Navi Group

Galileo G superyacht, born from the collaboration with Vitruvius Ltd, Philippe Briand and Perini Navi Group, was designed for navigation and exploration in the most remote areas of the world including the Arctic and the Antarctic.

Designed for maximum efficiency in total autonomy thanks to the lean, sleek lines of its BOS® Hull, or Briand Optimized Stretched Hull.

Motor Yacht Galileo G has been designed and created following Ice Class IB (ABS Ice Class IB) regulations that will permit it to navigate the Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

Her hull is in steel with a protective ice belt of scantlings all around the waterline- especially in the bow, amidships and in the stern- constructed to make the hull more resistant to possible collisions with ice.

Built for maximum efficiency and potential for exploration, Galileo G, on top of her structural robustness and powerful propulsion systems for navigation through ice, has the necessary running systems, design characteristics and accessories to obtain Winterization, a denomination that distinguishes vessels that can navigate safely and for long periods of time in ice and at very low temperatures.

The yacht also has a telescopic retractable ice detection system that transmits through a 3D monitor in the pilothouse. This system can detect submerged and semi-submerged obstacles along the vessel’s path at distances over 1km.

Galileo G yacht also comes equipped with various toys including three tenders – a 9.5mt Zodiac Hurricane with a reinforced aluminium hull, another 6.3mt tender and a 4.2mt dedicated rescue tender- two Lasers and four kayaks.

Atollvic at 2011 Superyacht Awards

The Guildhall in London was once again the location for the prestigious annual event, where over 500 superyacht owners, representatives and industry experts were present. This is the second year that Atollvic has sponsored an award.

Superyacht Exuma, the new generation of the Picchiotti Vitruvius®-series motor yachts born from the collaboration between Vitruvius Ltd, Philippe Briand and the Perini Navi Group, is conceived with a focus on efficiency for autonomous navigation. At the 2010 Nautical Design Awards, a recognition for yachting design recently established and organized by the Italian Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI, the fifty-year-old association that also awards the prestigious Compasso d’oro,) in tandem with the magazine Yacht & Sail she also won Best Motor Yacht over 40mt.

Sailing yacht Vertigo launched by Alloy Yachts

At 837 GRT, Vertigo is the largest yacht to be built at Alloy Yachts and is also the largest luxury sailing yacht to be built in the Southern Hemisphere.

Yacht Vertigo was build under the hull name AY41 and was designed by Phillippe Briand. Phillippe Briand’s brief from the client was to make this design a performance sailing yacht capable of world cruising. The interior of superyacht Vertigo was designed by Christian Liaigre whose brief from the client was for the yacht to feel “Urban at Sea”.

It has been an incredible project and one which Alloy Yachts are very proud of.

Efficiency

Philippe Briand, naval architect and designer of the Vitruvius® concept, was inspired by the streamlined principles of sailboat hulls, where the lines of design, volume distribution and the study of weights are optimized to attain the best efficiency.

The aluminium hull, follows the principles of the Briand Optimized Stretched (BOS®) Hull and is characterized by streamlined, limited waterline length and a straight and deep bow. The BOS® Hull, and two zero speed roll stabilisers endow the hull with exceptional cruising stability. Combined with the installed power, these features ensure long-term navigation in total safety and tranquillity. Motor yacht Exuma’s gross tonnage is under 500 tons, and displaces about 400 tons. She features a reduced draft of 2.3 metres that allows navigation in shallow waters.

the proportions between hull and superstructure allowed for large spaces dedicated to ensuring privacy among guests onboard, equipment for exploration, stowage of materials. This was obtained by introducing double independent stairs and two walkways.

Exploration

Exuma motor yacht was designed with a strong aptitude for exploration in mind. Indeed, it allows a range of over 5,500 miles at a speed of 12 knots. This is attained due to the 75,000 litres of fuel and 17,000 litres of fresh water tankage. A particular characteristic of this yacht is the capability (thanks to 115 dedicated m2) of stowing large amounts of equipment and gear on board in order to be able to venture out into the most beautiful and remote areas of the world.

Inside the two fore lateral garages with gull-wing doors actuated by hydraulic pistons, Exuma MY houses a 16.4’ amphibious vehicle, completely customised with Iveco Campagnola mechanical components and frame, and a Hov Pod 12’ hovercraft.

Further, superyacht Exuma has additional space to host 2 tenders, measuring 21’ and 14’, 2 electric scooters, 2 Seabobs and 1 Sea-Doo RXT 250 jet ski. The yacht is also equipped with diving areas and equipment.

Exterior

The stylistic elements of the Vitruvius® project, motoryacht Exuma, are embodied in the optimal balance between straight and curved lines, together with the presence of large glass windows that confer high visibility and luminosity to every deck of the yacht. In particular, the large, double-curvature, bombé glass windows of the bridge deck offer a spectacular full-circle panorama. These windows distinguish the yacht’s lines and make them unique.

The use of titanium in all the external handrails combine extremely high reliability even in the most extreme conditions of use with perfect chromatic harmony with the yacht’s hull. On the superstructure, two ventilation grills integrated within the yacht’s line stand out as an aesthetic element, while the elegant mast for communication antennae, the navigation radars and the powerful searchlight is arranged on the superstructure roof.

Bridge deck

The bridge deck of the M/Y Exuma is characterized by large glass doors and the spacious side deck conceived to enjoy a full view of the surrounding panorama. This deck can be accessed either through the internal stair in the lobby or through the two external corridors. Besides the helm, the captain’s office and a pantry, the bridge deck features a spacious saloon with L-shaped sofa, a coffee table, armchairs and an entertainment area. The outdoor living concept embodied by this yacht is ensured by two comfortable chaise-lounges for sunbathing and a large, accessorized Jacuzzi with integrated banquette, equipped also with useful peaks for stowage of materials. Access to the second boarding ladder, designed for substantially high docks, is located along the starboard corridor.

From the external corridors, in which two side control stations for docking maneuvers are located, we access the totally open flush deck, that can also be used by guests as a party/sunbathing area. Here, two deck hatches allow access and use of the rescue boat and the jet ski, both handled by the davit crane located beside them. The stern maneuvering area, recessed and protected with windlasses, is equipped for all maneuvers typical of this type of yacht.

Main deck

The Main deck features typical sailing yacht setting for the aft cockpit that hosts two C-shaped sofas with two connectable coffee/lunch tables. Complete cockpit protection is ensured by the aluminium superstructure featuring an elegant ceiling comprised of characteristic modular panels, fit in different tones of grey. The aft area of the cockpit hosts two comfortable sun pads, with stowage space and direct access to the lazarette beneath.

Two practical ladders, accessible through the side decks  of the motor yacht Exuma, situated amidships, lead to the bridge deck access. The starboard deck, served by the main boarding ladder for easy guest boarding, leads to the side entrance of the main lobby. The port deck constitutes the crew’s main entrance, contains the engine room’s emergency exit ladder and several fittings for side docking.

An elegant and functional glass sliding door leads to the entrance of the main open-space saloon, characterized by large glass windows that confer exquisite visibility and luminosity to the yacht. The living area, equipped with every latest generation entertainment device, is comprised of three C-shaped sofas located on the port side, while the dining area hosts a table that can be modified, is capable of seating up to 10 people, and is completed by a useful pantry. Amidships, the main lobby features the guest stair that directly connects the three decks, a day head and the Owner’s area, comprised of two staterooms both with large glass windows and en-suite bathrooms fitted with prized Italian marble.

Lower deck

Exuma’s lower deck is accessed through the central guest stair, and is comprised of two VIP cabins and one twin cabin with en-suite bathrooms, a gym-equipped area that can be transformed into sleeping quarters with two pullout beds, a bathroom and shower. A distinctive feature of this deck is its development along a double parallel corridor, with independent stairs for guests and crew.

Forward, the crew area accommodates total of eight people thanks to three double cabins with bathroom and a Captain’s cabin, a dinette, laundry room and a spacious galley equipped with dumbwaiter serving the three decks of the yacht directly.

Aft access and lazarette

Aft access is through the retractable gangway or a double ladder located on the two sides of the wide aft transom swim platform. The lazarette, with full-height ceiling that allows standing upright, has an extendable rail to assist in the launch operations of the 21’ Castoldi tender, a diving area with dive compressor, a machine workshop, 50-60 Hz frequency converter. An important aspect to be highlighted is the presence of a stern anchor useful in facilitating the yacht’s anchoring in restricted bays.

Engine Room

The engine room, equipped with a separate control room and located forward of the lazarette, is equipped with two 970-kW Caterpillar C32 Acert engines. Various machinery includes two 115-kW and one 86-kW electric generators, a central air conditioning unit and a waste water treatment unit.

Philippe Briand designed yacht Vertigo - constructed by Alloy Yachts

“The Interior design process has started from a client’s request that the sailing yacht Vertigo must feel “URBAN AT SEA”.
As they plan to stay long periods on-board, they want to feel in a light atmosphere instead of the more traditional “nautical signature”.

The general palette is providing a large amount of white surface combined with tinted walnuts and black sandblasted woods.
All complementary furniture has been custom design in order to match perfectly with the “sport chic” spirit of the Vertigo yacht.

The layout increase perspective effect. The boat longitudinal lines can be read all along the internal space because many partition walls are stopped before they connect to the hull.
On the main deck of the superyacht Vertigo, three big Black cores shelter the staircases in aluminium and some service area.

The long sinuous longitudinal side cabinet creates the link in between all the space. It extends visually the deck and can be read as the edge of an internal cockpit”.
