Beneteau Group show strong growth during the 2010-11 season

September 07, 2011

During the 2010-11 season, which is coming to an end, the BENETEAU Group has once again achieved strong growth of around 20% for its Boat division in a global market that has picked up slightly. This performance, following on from the previous year’s growth of around 16%, has been achieved thanks to the Group successfully capitalizing on its assets and talents.

In terms of its assets, the strength and recognition of its brands lead the way, followed by the drive and professionalism of its sales networks, which have worked remarkably well, on both traditional and new markets. In this way, the Group has been able to successfully capitalize on its presence in strong-growth countries, combined with its development on new product segments.

Its sound financial position, underpinning the confidence and trust of all its partners, has enabled it to accelerate its developments at a crucial time for the recovery.

These sound foundations also represent an essential asset for its teams to express their talents in terms of both the creation of new products and technical innovation.

During the 2010-11 season, the Group launched 20 new models, after the previous season’s 29.

More than 20 new models are planned for the coming season, 17 of which will be unveiled at the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show, and the Grand Pavois show in La Rochelle. More specifically, visitors to these two leading events will this year be able to discover the very latest models of yachts from BENETEAU (Oceanis 41, 45 and 48) and JEANNEAU (Sun Odyssey 379, 509, 44 DS).

For powerboats, the new Barracuda range will be unveiled in France by BENETEAU, alongside the Antares 780 and 880 and the two units which have been added to the Flyer Gran Turismo range, with a 44’ and a 49’ fly. JEANNEAU will be showing the latest creations from the Cap Camarat (8.5 CC) and Merry Fisher (755 and 855) ranges, as well as its all-new NC 9. Prestige 500 fly will be unveiled in Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show, 6th – 11th September 2011, .

LAGOON will be presenting the 2012 version of the LAGOON 620, whose interior has been completely redesigned by Nauta.

In the pontoon for large units, visitors to the Cannes Show will have the opportunity to admire three superyachts designed by CNB – Construction Navale Bordeaux – the CNB 100 Chrisco, CNB 77 and CNB 60 – as well as the latest creation from Monte Carlo Yachts – an elegant fly at close to 20 meters, the MCY 65.

The housing division has continued to develop in the Leisure Housing segment, as well as the Residential Housing segment, in line with the average rate forecast of around 10%.

The Leisure Housing business, with its IRM and O’Hara brands, has benefited from the outstanding development of the outdoor accommodation sector, driven by the dynamic performance of its players and the greater appeal of domestic destinations.

In the more recent Residential Housing activity – high-environmental performance and wooden-frame houses – the Group has carried out eight housing programs over the past year – for a total of 146 houses – in line with its objectives for the year.

Mrs. Carla Demaria appointed member of BENETEAU SA’s Management Board

September 05, 2011

BENETEAU SA’s Supervisory Board appointed Mrs. Carla Demaria as a member of the Management Board during its meeting on Wednesday August 31st 2011. Chairman of the Monte Carlo Yachts SPA subsidiary, Carla Demaria joined the Group in October 2008 to help drive its development in the large power yacht sector.

The first unit from the Monte Carlo Yachts brand, launched in Venice in July 2010, has proven very successful, establishing itself as one of the most award-winning yachts of all time in the pleasure cruising sector at the end of its very first season.

The second model from the range, the elegant fly MCY 65, measuring almost 20 meters, will be unveiled at the Cannes Boat and Yacht Show on September 6th.

Within this context, the Group recently acquired an industrial site in Montfalcone (Italy), previously owned by Seaway.

Following this appointment, Carla Demaria will be heading up the BÉNÉTEAU brand from November this year, while continuing in her role within the Monte Carlo Yachts brand.

Carla Demaria has spent most of her career in the Italian boating sector. The experience she has built up and her in-depth knowledge of the market have also seen her taking on the position of Vice-Chairman of UCINA, the Italian yachting federation, in 2008.

Monte Carlo Yachts (Beneteau Group) acquire Seaway Technologies Gulf of Trieste facility

August 31, 2011

Monte Carlo Yachts accelerates the pace of its development plan and the Beneteau Group announces the production of new ranges in Italy.

Monte Carlo Yachts has announced the expansion of its production site in the Monfalcone marine centre. Monte Carlo Yachts, which belongs to the French Beneteau Group, is forging ahead with its strategy despite the unfavourable international economic context and strengthening it with a far-reaching investment. Monte Carlo Yachts has in fact purchased the extremely modern works adjoining its production centre from Seaway Technologies.

“We are equipping ourselves with a facility that represents the state of the art in yacht production, outfitted with the best technologies available, including a 46-metre milling cutter unmatched anywhere in the world and a spray booth for the latest generation of megayachts,” commented Monte Carlo Yachts President Carla Demaria.

Seaway Technologies is an Italian company belonging to Slovenia’s Seaway Group, in the vanguard in the design, prototyping and application of new technologies in the yachting environment.

The agreement between Monte Carlo Yachts and Seaway was facilitated by the positive collaboration that links the two companies. The Beneteau Group in fact has relations with Seaway that stretch back over a decade and is its leading commercial partner. The cooperation also extended to Monte Carlo Yachts, so much so that the MCY 76 was actually built in the works that have now been acquired.

This investment is functional to the strategy of the Group, which has chosen Monfalcone as its exclusive site for the production of large motor craft. In addition to Monte Carlo Yachts, new ranges will soon be realised, confirming the strong synergy with the French parent company.

Monte Carlo Yachts 65: Born under a lucky star

June 24, 2011

Plenty of positive omens accompany the imminent debut of the new Monte Carlo Yachts 65 model, starting with the seven awards that crowned the MCY 76 as the boat of the year.

The Monte Carlo Yachts 65 (MCY 65) is born under a lucky star, and with a big responsibility: with this boat Monte Carlo Yachts reaffirms the concept and strengths of the MCY 76.

The shape of the Monte Carlo Yachts collection begins to emerge with a new 65-footer. The new model – second, but only in order of appearance – will be presented in preview at the Cannes International Boat  Show in early September and holds all the cards to win the favour of both customers and critics. And it definitely won’t disappoint the many admirers of the model that preceded it: Monte Carlo Yachts has succeeded in offering the original design elements and the numerous innovations that ensured the success of the MCY 76 on the Monte Carlo Yachts 65 as well.

The aesthetic research carried out by two superstars of design like Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard endows the boat with a timeless, immediately recognisable style and gives it a very naval allure, with classic elements that are skilfully reinterpreted in a modern key. The result is a design that is avant-garde but not extreme, reassuring and at the same time highly innovative. We can finally say it: it’s the style of the Monte Carlo Yachts brand. A style that emerges in the overall lines of the boat as well as in its details. In its profile, for example, so characteristic thanks to the high, flared bow, without a pulpit. But also in the portholes: an original sign, almost a label, that is created by the reinterpretation of the classic bull’s eye.

Elegance and functionality blend together, just like the design and technical solutions. And from this point of view the new model confirms all the appealing elements introduced last season by the MCY 76. The Portuguese deck forward, the radar mast to support the all-carbon T-top of the flybridge, the splendid  glass supports that protect the lateral walkways up to the side entrance to the saloon: 20 metres of length that give the impression of being aboard a megayacht.

An impression that is confirmed in the interior spaces as well. The discovery of Monte Carlo Yachts’ original concept of luxury is a source of inspiration each time; elegance is fused with functionality, beauty with utility. The decor is refined: walnut and grey oak dominate, with brown and grey leather inserts, a few touches of lacquer and fine fabrics from Armani Casa and Rubelli. Materials and finishes that enrich large, liveable spaces, first and foremost the master cabin. Placed amidships, full beam, it is the largest in the category. Access is gained through a lobby flooded with natural light. The layout of the lower deck is completed by two other cabins (both with private bathrooms): the VIP cabin with a double bed and the guest cabin with twin beds.

For the main deck Nuvolari and Lenard reaffirm the concept of continuity between interior and exterior spaces by positioning the galley right at the entrance to the saloon and emphasising this continuity by designing part of the galley for both indoor and outdoor use. Opposite is the dinette with a handsome table that is very functional and at the same time an authentic design object, in the spirit of the brand.

As on the MCY 76, the lounge area, featuring a large C-shaped sofa, is more internal. Next to the driver’s seat we find an element more typical of larger boats: the access door to the external walkway, partially electrically powered.

From the Portuguese deck the forward bow area is reached via a central passage that separates two sunbathing/lounge areas, like on the MCY 76. On this model, too, the design made it possible to lower the floor of the bow in order to allow carrying out manoeuvres while comfortably standing, as is the case on larger boats.

The motor yacht’s flybridge can be used even during the hottest part of the day thanks to the generous amount of shade offered by the carbon T-top, of which an ample portion can be freed by means of an efficacious electrically operated soft-top. To provide a greater number of seats the designers inserted the furniture unit containing the refrigerator, sink and barbecue at the base of the radar mast and positioned sofas on both sides of the flybridge.

Aft is yet another element more often found on larger craft: the door giving direct access from the stern platform to the crew cabin and the engine room. Privacy and functionality at the service of both owner and crew.

For propulsion Monte Carlo Yachts chose the new generation of MAN V8 1000 hp engines, which enable a cruising speed of 27 knots in average load conditions and a top speed of 31 knots.

For the new yacht the shipyard adopted a strongly innovative and very complex construction process, already used on the MCY 76, that eliminates onboard adjustment operations and makes it possible to attain excellent quality standards because the assembly tolerances are honed down to the millimetre. The technological capability and efficiency that derive from membership in the Beneteau Group – the world leader in the construction of pleasure craft – are part of the Monte Carlo Yachts DNA, just like its attention to design and aesthetics. The special character of Monte Carlo Yachts is found precisely in this unique blend of the industrial know-how provided by the French parent company and Italian supremacy in terms of creativity and quality of execution.
