The first charity exhibition Polo match will be held in the popular Spanish yacht charter destination – Ibiza tomorrow, on June 8, from 5pm. Marked by a huge success during the previous years, this year’s event will donate all the procedes to the support of the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) in Ibiza.

Marina Ibiza, as one of the main sponsors of the event, will feature one of the private canopies of the village and cater to clients and visitors as the event takes place. Clients of the Marina have been invited personally and in the canopy they can enjoy a snack or follow the Championship attended by the Concierge of the port.

This special edition of the contest has been organized by the delegation of Ibiza and Formentera for the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC), whose profits collected during the event will go to their cause and Marina Ibiza wanted to be present to support this special charity event.

A sporting competition filled with raffles, auctions, music and dancing from 5 p.m. with the best music of Dj Antz and the Gipsy Kings. Prominent names in the world of Polo such as Andrew Hine, Nic Roldan, Jaime Espinosa de los Monteros, current President of the Spanish Polo Association, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, Carlos Grasida and Gastón Laulhé will be present tomorrow Saturday, June the 8th, at the Ibiza Polo Club to participate in the first Ibiza Charity Polo Cup in Sant Joan.

In addition to the stars of this sport present there will aslo be Argentinian food, entertainment for children, and all the glamour that the atmosphere of Ibiza always offers.

Marina Ibiza is actively involved in various social awareness programs, and their collaboration with the Ibiza Charity Polo Cup is a sign of their support to charities such as the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC).

Marina Ibiza has received the distinction of a “5 Blue Star Marina” by the International Marine Certification Institute. This represents the most prestigious award any Marina can be honoured with. Only 9 marinas in the world boast the “5 Star” certificate.

The Blue Flag is a recognition of the environmental quality of the Marina whose goal is to conserve a clean water, to improve the services and to work with good environmental practices. The International Marine Certification Institute is thrilled to announce that Marina Ibiza has been honoured with the highest score possible within the Blue Star certification programme qualifying as a world class superyacht marina. To become certified as a 5 Star Marina compliant, Marina Ibiza went through an evaluation process that comprised an on-site inspection to guarantee full criteria compliance.

The Blue Star Marina certification standards criteria focus on assuring delivery of improved marina security and safety performance, environmental and regulatory compliance as well as customer service, hospitality and marina management above expectations. The catalogue of criteria is reviewed yearly so the standards are up to date and implemented best practices are continuously improved to match the clients expectations.

The winner of the Marina Ibiza DJ Contest held last weekend at the marina in collaboration with Blue Marlin Ibiza is disc jockey Xicu Portas from Ibiza. This DJ contest was just one of the many events that make Marina Ibiza one of the Mediterranean‘s most sought after harbours in this popular yacht charter destination, not only for the quality the services provided and its facilities, but also for the excellent choice of leisure activities offered on the marina site by Ibiza‘s hottest hangouts.

The 25-year-old DJ and percussionist Xicu Portas demonstrated his skills on the stage and scooped the most votes in a closely-contested final in which a further six talented DJs took part. Second place went to DJ Deafnoxx who, despite only having 50% of his hearing capacity, demonstrated his huge ability on the mixingtable.

The final had a distinctly Ibizan flavour since the third-placed contestant, Toni Moore, was born in Ibiza in 1983 and has lived here all his life. Xicu Portas will get to play next summer’s music at Blue Marlin Ibiza, which has previously hosted DJ’s Tom Crane, Wally López, Bruce Hill, Sylvain Armand and the two duos Glowinthedark and Goldfish, amongst others.

7 DJ’s competed in the final

68 contestants from 12 countries (Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Sweden, United States, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Romania, Belgium, Holland and Zanzibar) sent in their 20-30 minute demo sessions to the team of judges, and seven were picked to compete in the final last weekend. The live broadcast by Ibiza Sonica was presented by the radio station’s director, popular DJ Igor Marijuán, who was also one of the judges, alongside Anna Tur, from Ibiza Global Radio; Valentín Huedo, from Blue Marlin Ibiza & Sonica; and Vidal Rodríguez, Blue Marlin Ibiza’s resident DJ, who is from Ibiza.

In order to find the best disc jockey out of 7 finalists chosen from a total of 68 entrants, Marina Ibiza and Blue Marlin Ibiza will be holding a DJ Contest this Saturday, 22 December, from 16:00 to 19:00 hours. The winner will be honoured to play upcoming summer’s music at Blue Marlin Ibiza, which has previously hosted DJ’s Tom Crane, Wally López, Bruce Hill, Sylvain Armand as well as the two duos Glowinthedark and Goldfish.

7 DJ’s will compete in the final
68 contestants from 12 countries (Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Sweden, United States, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Romania, Belgium, Holland and Zanzibar) sent in their 20-30 minute demo sessions to the panel of judges, and 7 were picked to compete on Saturday for next summer’s coveted DJ job. First in the shortlist by alphabetical order is DJ Deafnoxx, who has been deaf in one ear since birth and so has only half his hearing capacity.

The contest will be broadcast live by radio station Ibiza Sonica, and will include Candi Staton’s Hallelujah Anyway and Electricity by Lee Foss & MK featuring Anabel Englund, along with themes by Betoko, Guti etc.
