Jongert´s new range of sailing and motor yachts represents state-of-the-art design with innovative solutions featuring space, performance and eco-friendliness.

The first Monaco contract for a 44.6m (146ft) motoryacht has since been extended to 46.4m (152ft) in partnership with the owners’ representative Alex Krykanyuk and Dubois Naval Architecture. The Fort Lauderdale contract is for a 34m sailing yacht which will be an extended version of the recently introduced 30m line with a design by renowned German Frers.

In other developments, the 27m (88ft) Jongert sailing yacht Vivid has sailed back to Jongert’s yard in Wieringerwerf after having journeyed the world for the past decade. She is to undergo a major refit in partnership with the Sea-Alliance Group.

Meanwhile, in the south of France, Jongert has now presented a new office in Antibes to offer a more immediate service to its international clients. The office will also become the contact point for sales of pre-used Jongert yachts.

Jongert to build two new superyachts: Jongert 43m and 44m Yacht

October 07, 2011

Prestigious Dutch luxury yacht builder Jongert Shipyard is proud to announce two new orders for motor yachts, settled at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show. One of them is a Jongert 44m Yacht and the other is a Jongert 43m superyacht. As well as these two new exciting yacht orders, Jongert has another LE 500 yacht under construction together with a 41-metre yacht, who’s construction started last year. The Jongert 44m superyacht with design by Dubois Naval Architects is intended for a customer in Ukraine. Both of the yachts are scheduled for delivery in 2013 and additional news will be unveiled in the coming months.

While Jongert was still looking for a clear direction at last year’s show, the two new orders ensured that the yard was well on course this time round, back where it belongs at the top of the superyacht industry. Everything was in place at the show, including interpreters, transport over the water for clients, refreshments and even a smart photo shoot.

Solid organisation

Peter Versluis, the director of the VeKa Group (the organisation to which Jongert Shipyard belongs) was also present in Monaco.  His presence was very much appreciated, and many of our business relations took the opportunity to meet him. The fact that Jongert is part of a multinational maritime group offers our clients a guarantee of stability and reliability. The VeKa Group is active in virtually every maritime sector and has shipyards in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Romania, the Ukraine, Bulgaria, China and Serbia. Thanks to mutual cooperation, we have virtually no limits. Semi-customized and fully customized yachts measuring up to 135 m [443 ft] in length can be built at one of the facilities.

New designs for 2011

Jongert Shipyard recently presented two new designs: the Jongert 500 LE Yacht, an exclusive motor yacht of 50 metres in length, and the 3000 M, a yacht of over thirty metres in length with exceptional sailing qualities. The initial reactions to the new designs were very positive. Of course, the existing designs remain available and have even been restyled. “We’ll do everything in our power to make our customers’ dreams come true”, says Eel Kant. “Jongert will continue to chart new courses well into the future.”

New branch in France

To provide even better service to its international clientele, Jongert International has established a branch in Antibes in the south of France. The office will be run by Niels Lensen, a Dutchman who has been living and working in France for a long time and is thoroughly familiar with the international yacht sector.

Fort Lauderdale

Jongert will have its own stand at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The event will take place from Thursday 27th to Monday 31st October at Fort Lauderdale in Florida. You can find Jongert in the Y&B tent at stand number 664.

Varadero Valencia completes refit of Vitters sailing yacht MARIPOSA 3a and Jongert Ketch Baltic Dreams

July 27, 2011

Launched in 2005 and drawing on the vast experience of their sister shipyard Varadero Palma, by 2008 Varadero Valencia had already become a benchmark Mediterranean refit and repair yard for superyachts.

Top tier facilities and an expert team, quality customer service as well as proximity to the Balearic Islands make Varadero Valencia a prestigious superyacht refit yard. 2011 has been a busy year for the superyacht repair yard and they have completed works on several superyachts including Vitters sailing yacht MARIPOSA 3a and the classic Jongert Ketch Baltic Dreams.

The Vitters sailing sloop MARIPOSA 3a receivied a refit at the Varadero Valencia yard. Work included the replacement of the superstructure including both sides and the main door that was originally built in teak. After the rebuild, the yacht was varnished with high quality spray.

Mariposa 3a’s hull was built in aluminum and required a repaint of the hull which Varadero Valencia completed with Awlgrip paint. The cabin and cockpit were painted in white, and the hull in a dark navy blue.

The paint work was done in a custom yacht cover built by Varadero Valencia yacht covers division. A full check of the MTU engines and the Kolher generator was also carried out.

S/Y MARIPOSA 3a is a unique classic designed yacht in a style reminiscent of the great racing yachts and the romance of the 1920′s and 1930′s.  Her beautiful lines, the classic sheer and deck house profile, are married to a modern hull shape and highly developed keel design, which create a fast and seaworthy vessel, capable of world-wide cruising in any weather.

Another sailing yacht refitted by the Valencia shipyard was the Jongert sailing yacht Baltic Dreams. The Owner of the ketch wanted to paint the hull and the super-structure, mast and booms as well as review and change the rigging.

The first step was to take out the main mast and mizzen mast with a specialist rigger and with a crane. Once the two masts and booms were laid at ground level, the riggers dismounted all the pieces at the same time Varadero Valencia´s team were building a tent which measured  40 meters to cover the mast and booms. The Baltic Dreams yacht was placed on a cradle on the hard and another tent was built to cover her during her paint which as also done with Awlgrip paint.

Sailing yacht Ameena re launched by Jongert – The First Jongert refit of 2011

May 09, 2011

After a refit Jongert Shipyard has recently re-launched sailing yacht Ameena, a Jongert 2900M-line yacht. ‘Once you have a Jongert yacht, you do not want to have any other type of yacht’, explains Jongert Shipyard’s project manager. ‘This again is proven by the fact that the owner who bought the  Ameena in 2004 brought the yacht back to the yard for a refit in December 2010.’ Now, five months later, the yacht is as good as new. In 2004 sail yacht Ameena designed by Tony Castro, received the prestigious ShowBoats International Award for the best sailing yacht in the category up to 40 meters in length.

A new look

‘In the past the owner of the Ameena had already purchased a used Jongert yacht. He was so pleased with this yacht, that he commissioned the construction of a brand-new Jongert 2900M-line yacht.  We are extremely proud that he has now chosen to have this yacht refitted by our yard.’ It happens more and more that owners decide to have their yacht refitted. ‘It’s the logical thing to do. It isn’t necessary to buy a new yacht every few years like you buy a new car. A Jongert yacht retains her qualities for decades and a refit is a good solution to give her a new look, a new styling, and also to incorporate the latest technology developed over the years.

Quality and confidence are decisive

‘We didn’t have a moment of doubt who would have to do this refit’, states the captain of the Ameena. ‘Of course there are shipyards for instance in countries like Spain, Italy and Turkey capable of doing an excellent job, but the confidence we have in Jongert’s Shipyard, as well as the outstanding quality and mentality we have come to appreciate during the long relationship, is the deciding factor to have the refit done by them.’

Sailed extensively

The Ameena is a sister ship of the sailing yacht that last year won the Superyacht Cup Palma 2010, the famous three-day regatta. ‘The Scorpio Dei Mare is technically seen fully designed for racing; the Ameena, however, is built for cruising with a small or no additional crew. However, the Ameena has the same lines as her twin ship and is a fast sailing yacht as well. The owner has used the Ameena extensively over the past years and in that period sailed faster than many racing yachts.’  The refit included a complete rigging update and a full check of all rigging, replacing parts where necessary. The mast has been stripped completely and the mainsail has been replaced.

As usual, during the refit, the drive system has been fully checked, the hydraulic system renewed and the water tank sandblasted. The yacht has been fully repainted and new carpeting has been laid in various areas. The Ameena is fully certified including of course a Lloyd’s certificate.

A fast sailer with lots of comfort and an own identity

Anyone who has seen the yacht before will then recognize her from afar. ‘The Ameena combines speed, luxury and comfort with a very own identity’, says the project manager. ‘On both sides of the deck saloon a beautiful teak rim has been fitted, the eye catcher of this yacht. This striking feature has, of course, been left intact during the refit. She has a new styling, but her beautiful lines, her outstanding sailing characteristics and her typical looks have not been changed.’

Motor Yacht LUCIA-M excels at sea trials

July 15, 2010

The technical sea trials of MotorYacht Lucia-M, the first Jongert 3900MY, went very well. Especially the way in which the yacht maneuvers, at all speeds, is remarkable. ‘It’s unbelievable’, says a spokesman of Jongert Shipyard. ‘This yacht weighing over 200 metric tons maneuvers like a runabout.’

The sea trials were held on the IJsselmeer (the Old Dutch inner sea) and the North Sea. ‘The combination of propellers, rudders, their mutual positioning and shape of the underwater vessel is ideal for all speeds’, explains a spokesman who held the rudder during the sea trials. ‘Executing a Williamson Turn at a speed of 29 knots is easy. Even at that speed you are always in full control.  After a so-called “crash-stop” the yacht Lucia M stops within three ships lengths and that from a speed of 15 meters per second. The yacht lying still with counter set propellers, without help of the very effective bow- and stern thruster, can literally pivot around its axis. The stabilizers (VT Naiad trim/stabilization system) function very well.’

What is striking is the speed flexibility of the Lucia-M Motoryacht. ‘You go smoothly from full displacement to gliding across the water.  Remarkable is also the fact that on the IJsselmeer, which is only 6 meters deep, the yacht having a draught of two meters effortlessly achieves its top speed without first drawing its back deeply into the water. The master can choose from an unlimited range of speeds.  Many gliders and half gliders have a relatively large speed range where you are as they say “climbing the mountain” causing unpleasant heavy stern waves and high fuel consumption.

The Lucia-M superyacht is the first motor yacht of these dimensions ever built by Jongert. Much attention has been paid to comfort during the design of the yacht. The motor yacht line has been developed by the yard at the specific request of several customers who appreciate the design of the Jongert sailing yachts but prefer a motor yacht. The SuperYacht Lucia-M is the owner’s fifth motor yacht. ‘Our customer is an expert when it comes to products with a high degree of styling, finish, quality and performance. For private purposes he drives the sportiest type of Bentley. Now he sails his first Jongert 3900MY. In my opinion that’s a huge compliment.’

After the sea trials the owner congratulated the Jongert team for their professionalism. ‘I never had any doubts about this design. My expectations have even been exceeded.’ Furthermore he was very satisfied with the fact that the maximum speed turned out to be higher than expected. ‘Our customer considers the excellent performance rather as a form of active safety than a possibility he will use every day’, says the spokesman. ‘He is primarily concerned with the comfort, style, reliability and quality. On all these points MY Lucia-M scores above all expectations.’
