February 20, 2013

The inaugural Nautique Dutch Glory Awards will be presented during the Amsterdam Boat Show, that will run from 6 to 10 March, 2013. Yachts that are designed and/or built in the Netherlands are eligible for the Nautique Awards. Design, implementation, innovation, sailing performance, ergonomics and practical use of the yacht are decisive for the granting of the awards.

The Ribbon 45 SC yacht tender wins the award in category ‘Motor yachts up to 15 meters’. The jury describes the Ribbon 45 SC as follows: “This yacht leads the way in a new direction of the Dutch yachting industries, boldness and innovation. The design is cosmopolitan and dynamic. Thanks to her sailing performance and high speed, this yacht will especially attract an international audience. The sailing practice is not forgotten, a thick fender prevents scratches and dings on this bold design”.

Motor yacht NED 70 wins in the category ‘Motor yachts from 15-25 meters’. The jury describes the NED 70 as follows: “The NED 70 is an aluminum seagoing yacht with a low displacement level which makes her very fuel efficient. The engines are relatively small, but the range is enormous. The NED 70 is an ultra modern yacht, with a promising light and spacious interior. Despite her sleek lines, the yacht is sturdy and able to beach on a sandbank”.

The philosophy behind the Nautique Dutch Glory Awards contacts with the slogan of Dutch industry: ‘Think yachts, think Holland’. As a team Vripack is very proud that its work has been rewarded with no less than two awards!

New STORM X-65 and X-78 yacht series designed by Omega Architects and Van Oossanen Naval Architects presented at HISWA Boat Show

January 04, 2013

At the successful HISWA in-water Boat Show in Amsterdam, Knippels Yachting presented their new STORM X-65 as well as X-78 yacht series. Both yacht designs have been developed by Omega Architects and Van Oossanen Naval Architects,  achieving great success at this event.

These new long range Explorer-type of yachts will fit those who spend long hours on the water. The designs have the appeal, the comfort and the technological advantages of the STORM S-series.

About STORM 78
The design concept for the all-Dutch STORM 78 yacht is focused on offering four key assets to up to six people: great looks, superior comfort, lots of space and the latest technology. It looks forward to a time where “quality of life” will be more important to men and women alike, incorporating this philosophy into every aspect of the design.

Luxury yacht STORM 78 has an instant attraction thanks to her exceptionally powerful design. Inspiring pure emotions that speak to the heart, she is aimed at owners looking to make a clear statement of intent by opting for something different from the norm. The shaping and profile of a motoryacht is essential to stimulate and nourish our senses. This is how a design adds value, and the authentic and robust looks of the STORM 78 speak a genuinely distinctive design language.

A great deal of thought has also gone into the way the STORM 78 yacht functions. The vessel has been designed to maximise the space available to six adults. With a superyacht-like aft deck and a superlative main saloon, the options for peaceful lounging are many.

The flybridge has a second steering position, a customisable cockpit and room enough for everyone to sit together, sunbathe and relax while admiring the vista of the fjords or St. Tropez. There is also a multi-functional area that can be used, for example, to house a tender.

The all-aluminium STORM 78 yacht is a fast A-class yacht with a top speed of 26 knots. She has a considerable range and would even be suitable for a circumnavigation. The innovative and efficient propulsion technology is future-proof and ensures an excellent sailing performance. And the STORM epitomises the very highest standards of Dutch design, engineering and construction in every respect.

December 11, 2012

March 6 will be marked by launch of the new watersport season in the RAI during the HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show, the largest watersport exhibition in the Netherlands. As part of a continuous effort for innovation, the upcoming edition of the show will boast various new elements. One of the highlights will be the Watersport Promenade, an attractive shopping centre with a catwalk that will offer daily fashion shows as well as product presentations.

HISWA

HISWA 2013 will also have new opening hours and reduced ticket prices in order to meet the demands of exhibitors and visitors alike. The complete exhibition programme for the HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show, which takes place from Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 March 2013 in Amsterdam RAI, will be announced shortly.

Shops, fashion shows and product presentations at the Watersport Promenade
The new Watersport Promenade serves as an attractive shopping centre where visitors can buy everything they need for the new watersport season from a variety of shops offering products at special exhibition prices. At the heart of the promenade and its comfortable terraces will be a catwalk where fashionable products available in the shopping centre will be featured throughout the day.

DIY and maintenance on Demo Square
Another new feature is the Demo Square, a more professional and larger-scale version of the successful workshop and demonstration programme that has traditionally taken place on the Maintenance Square. The interactive programme will include themes such as carpentry, sanding, varnishing and upholstery throughout the day. Returning elements in the 2013 programme include popular activities such as the Sail Theatre and the Water Fun Zone with its large basin and diving tank.

Start of the watersport season
The HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show traditionally marks the beginning of the watersport season. In addition to the maritime shops and comprehensive activity and information programme, the exhibition features hundreds of boats that are mostly ready for delivery. The RAI will feature the largest offer of launches and speedboats in the Netherlands, from small and low-priced to large, luxurious and super-fast. There will also be a unique range of open sailboats and day sailers for those who prefer cruising or a more competitive day on the water. And the show will present a vast collection of parts and accessories for every type of boat and watersport enthusiast.

New opening dates and times

The HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show 2013 will be open from Wednesday 6 to Sunday 10 March, which means it starts one day later than previous editions. There will be an extra evening added to the programme on Wednesday 6 March. The opening hours have been changed to meet the wishes of the visitors; weekdays from 11.00 to 22.00, and in the weekend from 10.00 to 18.00.

Reduced ticket prices

Tickets for the 2013 event will cost € 2.50 less than in 2012, available online for € 12.50 and on the door for € 15.00. Children up to the age of 16 can enter free of charge. Tickets are available online as of 1 December 2012. Also available on the website is a day return NS train ticket for just € 7.50, allowing visitors to travel to the HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show from any train station in the Netherlands and back.

Developed with exhibitors and visitors

The innovations at the watersport exhibition were developed in cooperation with exhibitors and visitors. Innovating and improving the event is high on the agenda of the organisers, which is why Amsterdam RAI has had intensive meetings with the various stakeholders over recent months in order to ensure the event is even more attractive.

However, there is room for multifunctional use, as it can be adjusted to everyone’s personal demand and wishes. The Smalland Tempo yacht tender will appeal to the international market and consists exclusively of low-maintenance materials, such as Esthec.

With the Smalland Tempo yacht tender with open stern, Smalland Maritiem adapts uniquely to a clearly spotted development within the market; high-speed tenders. On top of that, the Smalland Tempo combines all that is expected by today’s modern yacht owner and by practitioners of water sports: design, comfort, luxury, outstanding seaworthy properties and speed.

Esthec is used for both deck and interior flooring. Although a big ‘fan’ of this composite decking material, Smalland Maritiem still has to get used to the innovative technology and mounting process of Esthec. “The results are fantastic,” says Hans Heikoop, ship builder at Smalland Maritiem.

The Smalland Tempo yacht tender’s open stern can be closed automatically and the 110PK fuel efficient Yanmar motor is responsible for its power. Due to the innovative hull construction and the flexible interior spaces, this standard model can be completed based on everyone’s personal preferences, like diving or fishing activities. The tender also has excellent buoyancy. It is no surprise that the audience in Amsterdam responded well to the Smalland Tempo.

HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show 2012 hosted by Amsterdam Marina

September 12, 2012

The brand-new Amsterdam Marina played host to this year’s HISWA Amsterdam in-water boat show, running from September 4 to 9. Although the new marina, situated at the former NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam-North, will be fully operational as of April 1st 2013, all facilities were prepared to host over 300 participating yachts. Amsterdam Marina is the fourth member of “De Jachthavengroep” (Marina group), which also includes Regatta Center Medemblik, Marina Stellendam as well as Marina Schokkerstrand.

Over a hundred reservations
Amsterdam Marina could not have wished for a better start; nearly 26,000 yachties strolled along the sunny, brand-new pontoons. Many boat owners visited the temporary harbour master’s office to make enquiries about a permanent or visitor’s berth. Without any exception there were positive reactions to the fantastic location and the excellent service of the Marina team. During the boat show Amsterdam Marina has booked over a hundred reservations for a permanent berth.

Planning of final stages
Presently the last exhibitors are leaving their temporary berths at Amsterdam Marina. After they have left we resume the realisation of the marina; the remaining pontoons will be put into position, the offices and restaurant building will be realised on the pier in the middle of the marina and the temporary breakwater will be exchanged for a permanent one.

Facilities
Amsterdam Marina will be able to accommodate 350 yachts on wide, floating pontoons with wooden decks and comfortable finger jetties. The main building will host the harbour master’s office and the HISWA head office. On the ground floor a bar/restaurant will be realised with large terraces and berths all around. In the direct vicinity of the marina space will be made available for yachting-related shops and offices, which will turn the former NDSM wharf into the nautical hotspot of Amsterdam.

The 885 yacht is the largest Oyster built in the UK to date and incorporates Superyacht technology, such as a Lewmar CW3500 captive reel winch for the mainsheet. On 725-01 yacht, the sail control hydraulics are powered via the main power-pack, a feature normally found only on larger vessels. This enables stress-free and simple adjustment of the Navtec sail control functions.
