The Olympic Gold medalist and four-time winning skipper will be a special guest of honor of China Team, the official and exclusive Chinese challenger for the 2013 America’s Cup in San Francisco, as well as VIP at the Hainan Rendez-Vous.  Coutts will speak to the invitation-only audience of the main gala dinner about the upcoming challenge in San Francisco for the oldest trophy in international sport, the America’s Cup and how a Chinese challenger is key to the event.

“A Chinese challenger for the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco speaks to both the growth of the sport and the strength of the venue.  We are looking forward to China Team’s participation and the healthy competition it will bring,” said Russell Coutts.

China Team chairman, Mr. Wang Chaoyong is delighted to be the host for Russell Coutts in China, as China is a growing market for all things sailing (yachts and motorboats) and with more and more Chinese taking to the sea, China will very soon become an important country for water sports.

“China Team is developing its team of both international and Chinese sailors, and will be the only team to require a national crew mandate; we have committed that most sailors on China Team during  the America’s Cup will be Chinese, to reflect the growing interest that China is taking on this sport,” says Mr. Wang.

“Having Russell Coutts supporting China Team in our home country really shows how important China Team is to the America’s Cup. We value his support tremendously.”

Gulf Craft makes its debut at Hainan Rendez-Vous 2012 with the Majesty 70 yacht on display

April 05, 2012

Gulf Craft Inc., the largest builder of luxury yachts as well as fiberglass yachts in the Middle East and Asia, makes its premier at the Hainan Rendez-Vous Show 2012, China’s leading luxury lifestyle event, centered around the country’s only yacht show.

Majesty 70 Yacht running

Majesty 70 Yacht running

With a long-standing presence in Asia of over 20 years, Gulf Craft expects to leverage its strong understanding of yacht usage and operation in Asia, superior ability to deliver semi-customised craft and 100% track record to an audience of ultra high net worth Chinese consumers who are increasingly finding their way to the water.

“In terms of the luxury market, China represents the future for global luxury brands. The Chinese view the consumption of luxury goods within a lifestyle context which is exactly what makes Hainan Rendez-Vous such a successful show, and why we chose to be here this year. The Chinese yacht market is a nascent market but the best way to introduce yachting to a luxury consumer in China is in a luxury lifestyle context,” said Erwin Bamps, COO for Gulf Craft.

Gulf Craft will join a collection of high-profile brands from the corporate jet, luxury automobile, real estate, fine art, fashion, jewellery and lifestyle arena including Chopard, Rolls-Royce, Bombardier and Bugatti during the four-day event taking place on the Riveira-like shores of Sanya, Hainan Province from April 5th -8th. The annual event draws thousands of China’s UHNWIs keen on high-level networking and big ticket purchases.

Gulf Craft will showcase one of its latest yacht designs – the motor yacht Majesty 70 – at the show. “The market is very diverse. We see interest across the scale – from smaller fishing and family boats to a growing client base for superyachts. Gulf Craft is one of only a few boat builders worldwide with the capability to produce a wide spectrum of craft under one roof and offers plenty of variety in terms of models and sizes for this market.

“We have been selling Majesty Yachts in China – from Hong Kong to Shanghai – since 2007 and it is a market that values insight and semi-personalized solutions. The typical Chinese yacht owner uses his craft differently from the typical European owner – for instance, he tends to entertain larger groups of people, not just on extended cruises, but at parties on the quay.”

Bamps added: “It’s a new market, the crews handling craft are fairly inexperienced so the yachts themselves need to be user-friendly, reliable and easily maintainable. We have been building for this market for a while now which places us in an advantageous position to build yachts that cater to what the Chinese customer wants.”

According to Bamps, Gulf Craft’s key advantage to buyers from the market lies not just in the company’s ability to offer semi-customised solutions that can be tailored to individual tastes but to its experience and understanding of local waters, local usage and solutions to technical challenges. For example, higher water temperatures as compared to Europe demand different engineering of cooling systems while high humidity and ambient temperature demand different A/C and systems designs – systems Gulf Craft already uses on its yachts plying Asian waters.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Gulf Craft has spent 20 of those years building a strong client base across the Asian continent.

Bamps added: “Our manufacturing facilities are in Asia – in the Middle East and the Maldives – and we understand the Asian customer and product usage. We bring together the strength of a global company with local expertise, a solid financial standing and a healthy order book – and that is a very desirable combination.”

The Majesty 70 yacht will be exhibited by official Gulf Craft dealer Shanghai Bahrfuss Yacht Sales Co., Ltd at Stand EC001 at Hainan Rendez-Vous 2012.

Ferretti Yachts exhibits at four Spring International Boat Shows in the Asia Pacific Region

April 04, 2012

The Ferretti Group, one of the world leaders in the building of motor yachts, with an amazing portfolio of some of the most extraordinary, prominent brands in the nautical world, begins the spring season of international boat shows by participating at some of the most important events in the Asia Pacific region with a selection of the most prominent yachts in its fleet.

Luxury motor yacht PERSHING 92

Luxury motor yacht PERSHING 92

Until 1st April the Group was present at the ninth edition of the Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) with one of the largest stands of the show, set up in the prestigious Royal Phuket Marina, where, together with its exclusive dealer for Thailand Lee Marine, it displayed two of the most recent jewels of its fleet: the motor yacht Ferretti 720, of the Ferretti Yachts brand, and the Pershing 92’ superyacht, representing the Pershing brand; the latter vessel was the flagship of this year’s Show.

The two yachts were presented as absolute premieres for the Asia Pacific area, and the public had the opportunity to visit the yachts and perform sea trials on them, to experience first-hand the great quality that has always distinguished all the Ferretti Group models. Moreover, on 30th March the Group organised a special gala night for its Customers, prospects and the press, with the aim of introducing at best its two new pearls and showing once more how close the Group feels, and is, to its Owners.

“We are extremely proud to be present at the PIMEX and to present as premieres two of the most recent models in our fleet because we consider this event extremely important, not only as regards Thailand‘s nautical market, but also for all other countries in this area – explained Lamberto Tacoli, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer of the Ferretti Group.

Ferretti 720 Yacht

Ferretti 720 Yacht

“Over the last few years we have recorded a constant growth in the number of visitors from other Asian countries and other continents too, who chose Thailand as a travelling and holiday destination both for its pristine sea and for its accommodation facilities and excellent marinas. In order to meet such a growing interest at best, besides displaying the yachts representing the Ferretti Yachts and Pershing brands, we are also present at the Show with the Riva, CRN, and Ferretti Custom Line brands.”

The Ferretti Group will then take part in the third edition of the Hainan Rendez-Vous, which will be held from 5th to 8th April 2012 on the island of Hainan, in southern China: a charming location for a unique event which has by now become a real must for the leading world operators in the luxury sector. At this Show the Group will exhibit the luxury yacht Pershing 92’, the Ferretti 720 yacht, along with the Ferretti 550 and the Ferretti 660 of the Ferretti Yachts brand, also thanks to the support of its local dealer Speedo Marine.

For the Ferretti Group this year’s Rendez-Vous is even more significant, since it is being held only a few weeks after the launch of the new Custom Line 112’ superyacht Next – built for a Chinese Owner -, which will be berthed just on this beautiful island. The new hull in the Ferretti Custom Line range was indeed launched by the Group at the end of March at the Ancona shipyard: the new yacht will be available for the guests of the top-luxury Xanadu South China Sea resort, currently under construction in Hainan.

“Year after year, the Hainan Rendez-Vous is strengthening its role as a really unmissable event for the international producers of luxury goods all over the world, thanks to the constant extension of available exhibition areas, both ashore and in the sea, the growing prestige of the participating companies, and the world-class level of its visitors” – continued Lamberto Tacoli.

“Moreover, this show is increasingly strategic for our Group, which has been present on the Asian market for many years now: in 2004 we appointed a dedicated Asia Pacific Area Manager and in 2005 we opened a representative and promotion office in Shanghai, dealing with the development and management of the Customer and sales network. Our presence in the area has thus constantly strengthened over the years, with the creation of an ad-hoc team in charge of constantly monitoring this region.”

After the Phuket International Boat Show and the Hainan Rendez-Vous, the Ferretti Group will take part in two more leading international boat shows: the China International Boat Show in Shanghai, held from 19th to 22nd April 2012 – where the superyacht Pershing 92’ will again be on display – and the Qingdao International Boat Show, from 25th to 27th May 2012.

These will be two more precious opportunities to present in this strategic area the Group’s works of art created for the sea – the result of outstanding production skills combined with an unrivalled quality of details and guaranteed by the entirely Made-in-Italy processing and production process that has always distinguished all the Group’s yachts.

Azimut-Benetti Group present at 2012 Hainan Rendezvous

April 02, 2012

The prestigious Italian top-quality luxury pleasure yacht builder – Azimut-Benetti Group, pulls out all the stops at Hainan Rendez-Vous proves its leadership in China as well as around the world. The group exhibit at a 400m booth, largest in the entire exhibition, where customers and visitors are invited to come and see 7 different models, including the Azimut 64, Azimut 88 yacht and the motor yacht Delfino 93′ Benetti. To be noted that all the fleet on display at Hainan Rendezvous has already been sold, confirming the leadership position of the Company also from the sales point of view.

The motor yacht Azimut 64, is going to be officially delivered to its owner during the course of this year’s Hainan Rendez-Vous. This boat had been purchased off-plan during last year’s edition when the boat owner was captured by its design. This boat is the natural evolution of the Azimut 62 that has achieved unprecedented sales with 200 units sold worldwide. Azimut 64 features stylistic innovations, exceptional safety features and an outstanding layout. Seeking even further enhancements, the boat owner has invested an additional 300,000 Euros for exclusive materials, fabrics and top of the line finishes.

The dominant feature of the Azimut 88 yacht is a blend of elegant forms and excellent use of space: in essence, it is the perfect balance of comfort, space and style, with zero compromise. Its 27 metres of elegance include a square-shaped saloon which can be combined with the dining area to create a single large space. This area offers a total privacy for the boat owners and their guests who can enjoy a loft-scale living area completely set apart from the crew.

The  motor yacht Delfino 93’ embodies Benetti’s strong connection with both tradition and innovation. It is one of a kind, with the design, technology, functionality and comfort typically found in larger yachts. Its exterior lines include large areas of uninterrupted windows, allowing the boat owner and guests to enjoy breath-taking water views from many different locations. For the first time in a boat of this size, the yacht in display has  an RGB White lighting system with LED fixtures both inside and out.

The exponential growth in awareness seen by the Azimut brand during the last year and half is attributable to its  presence in China  since 2007. At the beginning via representative offices and more recently through its direct presence as wholly owned companies formed under local law, Azimut (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd., opened last November.

During the same period the brand won numerous awards and recognitions, crowning it the top brand of the boating world. From its side, Benetti has founded last August, Benetti Asia Co. Ltd based in Hong Kong  with the objective to support the sale presence and the after-sale services. Azimut-Benetti Group has managed to transfer its core strengths, appreciated worldwide, to China too: economic and financial stability, the prestige of its different brands (Atlantis, Azimut, Azimut Grande and Benetti) and its strong commitment to research and innovation.

Benetti Delfino 93 Motoryacht

Benetti Delfino 93 Motoryacht

The success which Azimut-Benetti Group has built up over time is further reinforced by its being awarded first place for the thirteenth time in the Global Order Book. This is the yearly ranking of leading international boat manufacturers compiled by the prestigious US magazine ShowBoats International.

The company has undergone gradual growth over the course of its 43-year history; its success has been due to a solid business policy which has ensured production values increase at an average rate of 15% per year for the last 15 years, despite the turbulence in the world financial markets. Knowing  there is a financially sound company backing up a boat purchase makes a real difference to Group boat owners around the world. In addition, the Company has always reinvested a significant portion of profits into its own growth and development (approximately EUR 500 million in the last 10 years). This has led to its owning 9 shipyards in Italy and 2 abroad (Turkey and Brazil) as well as being present on all major boat markets worldwide, including a sales and assistance network distinguished for its comprehensive coverage and competence.
