Guido de Groot designed 42m motor yacht concept for Jongert Yachts

Guido de Groot designed 42m (137´) motor yacht is one of the designer’s latest concepts, developed for the respected Dutch builder, Jongert Yachts. The 42m Jongert superyacht features naval architecture by well known Azure Naval Architects.

The Jongert 42MY is available in multiple variants for the exterior styling as well as interior layouts. The shipyard is capable of outfiting the yacht with a special owner’s deck. The upper deck is dedicated to the owner and the pilothouse is located on the lower deck.

The total number of 12 guests can find beautiful and comfortable accommodation aboard the 42m Jongert luxury yacht. She provides an Owner´s cabin for two, as well as four guest cabins for ten, including two cabins with Pullman. Her 6-member crew sleeps in one captain´s cabin for two and two crew cabins for four.

All-aluminium 42m Jongert superyacht is run by triple Caterpillar C rated diesel engines, each with a PM generator of 500kW at 2100 rpm. She will be equipped with diesel electric propulsion system called “Undare” – a new system, developed for inland and commercial vessels by the Veka-Group – Jongert’s main shareholder, Werkina, and Pon.

In addition the new 42MY Jongert should reach a maximum speed of 15 knots at half load conditions. Her maximum beam is of 7.8m (25´56´´), while her draft at half load is of 2.1m (6´89´´). The 42m Jongert is Lloyd´s Register classed.

The new 42m motor yacht by Jongert is available in multiple configurations in terms of both her exterior and interior. Jongert is able to outfit the yacht with a special owners’ deck, with the upper deck dedicated to the owner and the pilothouse positioned on the lower deck. Or the shipyard could focus on the ultimate Chinese entertainment environment, with large open spaces, round dinner tables and karaoke/entertainment rooms.

Guido de Groot designed 31m Trimaran Motor Yacht by Mobimar

The renowned Dutch studio Guido de Groot Design is currently working on a concept for a 31m motor yacht. The design of the project is expected to be completed within 6 months. This spectacular trimaran yacht is a joint project with the Finnish shipyard Mobimar.

The big advantage over a mono hull is that a trimaran can be more (fuel) efficient because it has a narrower main hull shape. The outer hulls do not add more resistance. A Trimaran gives the possibility to have beams of half the size of the length of the yacht. Stability, sea-keeping and maneuverability are much better. Because of these side hulls, stabilizers are not needed.

The concept for the 31m Mobimar yacht is new. There are mono hull yachts developed with extra side hulls for stability but they are not making use of the full possibilities of a trimaran yacht like this new concept is making.

All guest accommodation will be on the main deck making use of the extremely large beam of the Mobimar trimaran yacht. The bridge deck will be used for the wheelhouse, crew spaces and a very large outdoor entertainment area. The vessel will be designed for those owners that will stay for longer periods on board and for that reason ask for the comfort they cannot get on other yachts.

Guido de Groot designed 31m Mobimar luxury yacht is suitable for going to remote areas where there is no infrastructure for large yachts. The yacht can be handled at high waves and at rough seas. As a yacht, the Trimaran concept offers new ideas for general arrangements and entertainment areas.

Guido de Groot Design has developed beautiful interiors for two 77 feet yachts White Rose and Silver Rose, both of which are currently in build in Slovenia. The interiors are being built by Bobič Yacht Interior. As for the interior style, this renowned Dutch design studio was motivated by a contemporary architectural approach combining modern materials like glass, white lacquered surfaces as well as stainless steel with warm materials such as anigre, wenge and mahogany wood surfaces, fabrics and leather.

When entering the salon, the glass panel partition walls (which separate the galley from the salon and the wheelhouse) allow to look directly through to the forward area of the yacht. For privacy in the galley area, blinds are located behind the glass panels.

For the light woods on board the Guido de Groot Design have chosen a slightly white washed “anigre”. The darker wood specified on the walls and in the selected furniture pieces is “wenge”, while the parquet floor is made from “santos mahogany” wood planking. The table can be raised and by placing a table top (foldable and stored else where) it can be changed into a dining table.

The wheelhouse area is the area with the largest glass surfaces, allowing an all-round nice panoramic view. For that reason the studio has created an additional seating area which can be used as a dining area as well. Materials used are similar to the other areas but around the dashboard area more dark brown leather can be found in order to avoid reflections in the front windows.

Founded in 1976, Breedendam shipyard has built up an excellent name in the construction of traditional luxury sloops. In addition to such sloops, Breedendam Yachts concentrates also on the building of the Breedendam MTB yacht tender, a wonderfully lined retro style boat with a design inspired by the Motor Torpedo Boat from World War II. The shipyard has already built several MTB 30s and MTB 33s and thanks to the success of the MTBs, it was decided last year to renew the MTB line, outfitting the yachts with the latest technologies and with the interior as well as exterior design by renowned Guido de Groot.

The MTB fourzero yacht tender is built entirely of aluminium, which gives her a very strong construction and a weight of just 12.6 tonnes. With an LOA of 13.37 metres and a beam of 4.00 metres, the spacious cockpit can accommodate lots of guests. The yacht has been equipped with the IPS system from Volvo, which ensures optimal comfort and easy mooring. With two IPS600 engines of 435 hp each, the Breedendam MTB fourzero has an impressive performance and top speeds of up to 38 knots.

The MTB fourzero yacht’s lines are timeless. Characteristic features of the Motor Torpedo Boat are its pointed bow and wide stern, which has virtually the same beam as amidships. The hull is available in various colours that is supplemented by a contrast colour with a ‘wood look’ finish. The windows, also with a ‘wood look’, make the exterior very maintenance-friendly. A robust stainless steel bumper marked with the name ‘fourzero’ is fitted on the hull, while the cap rail is finished in solid teak in a high gloss varnish to enhance the yacht’s deluxe appearance.

The spacious interior is finished in teak. The headroom of no less than 2.00 metres is exceptional for a boat of this kind, and the galley offers all the comforts you would expect in a luxury yacht, including a refrigerator, a twin burner stove, a combi oven and a dishwasher. Across from the galley is a large L-shaped sofa finished in leather.

The fore cabin has a large double bed with ergonomic mattress for maximum sleeping comfort, while the head and shower are separate so they can be used individually. A nice design touch is the ‘fourzero’ logo on the mirrored wall in the fore cabin.

The steering position and cockpit have spacious sofas and leather padding. The yacht is also equipped with high-quality navigation equipment as well as an extensive multimedia system. The total electric system uses a Can Bus system, and all onboard equipment, including multimedia, can be controlled via an iPad.

Jongert Yachts to attend the Hainan Rendez Vous 2012

The prominent Dutch shipyard Jongert is pleased to announce that they will be present at the most important luxury event of the East, the Hainan Rendez Vous in China, running from the 5th until the 8th of April 2012.

The Hainan Rendez Vous is held for the third time and has already become Asia’s largest and most important yacht show. Around 15.000 visitors from all across greater China visit the event at the exclusive Visun Marina and will enjoy the world’s finest brands in luxury products, art displays, private jets and an amazing range of super yachts and mega yachts.

During the show Jongert will pay special attention to their new models; the motor yacht 500 LE X with all their latest innovations such as the diesel electric propulsion and telescopic anchoring systems. And the 42MY yacht that is introduced in China; the perfect combination between modern and traditional designs mixed into 42 meters of impressiveness. Both yachts are designed by Guido de Groot. Jongert cannot wait to finish the final drawings and kick off the production of both projects.

Furthermore, the three contracts that were announced earlier are currently being finalized and soon Jongert will have a full yard with the luxury yacht 44MY, 46.4 meter Dubois motor yacht and the 3400M yacht. Fortunately Jongert is well on track with the refit of the 2700M Vivid yacht, the project is right on schedule and she will be back into the water in May 2012, making place for new exciting projects.

Jongert will set sail towards Asia for the first time and will be hosting a stand at the show, located in the centre of the area at booth number H2. Jongert is well excited and looking forward to a positive show and upcoming period of time.

40m sailing yacht Extreme is a beautiful sloop, currently in build by the Turkish yard, Mengi Yay in Tuzla, under the management of Yacht Marine Ltd. The ‘Extreme’ superyacht features naval architecture as well as design by Ginton Naval Architects and lovely interior design by Guido de Groot. She is due to be delivered in Spring 2013.

At the time of writing, the hull structure is nearly completed and the aluminium superstructure is well underway. The hull of the luxury yacht Extreme is being built from steel with an aluminium superstructure and it will be built to RINA commercial classification.

Uri Rotshtain of the management company Yacht-Marine has instructed Jaron Ginton and Guido de Groot not to make any compromise when it comes to quality. Examples of that are evident everywhere in the Extreme yacht. For example, the propeller shafts of BT marine are made from Duplex instead of stainless steel. The aluminium superstructure is in many areas 6 mm thick when 4 mm would also be allowed. Many more examples can be found, such as the selection of caterpillar engines, the bow thrusters from Dutch Thruster Group or Lewmar winches.

Exterior Design and Naval Architecture – Jaron Ginton NA

The Dutch studio Ginton Naval Architects BV has designed the innovative modern 40m superyacht Extreme. The hull has been designed to minimise resistance, and the keel is “semi-fin keel” to allow simple docking. The spade rudders are located behind two 40” Variprop propellers to reduce resistance under sail.

Jaron Ginton explains that locked or even free turning propellers are responsible for a tremendous increase in resistance (in the vicinity of 30%), so folding the propeller blades parallel to the water stream is expected to increase the speed under sail by three quarters of a knot.

Jaron Ginton has designed a sloop based on principles of simplicity, reducing the amount of masts, stays, winches, etc. In order to maintain enough power from the sail, a high mast of 52 m has been selected. To compensate, 60 tonnes of ballast have been put in the keel.

The engine room is located aft of amidships, allowing the space for a big garage for water sports aft. Other special features are the large flybridge, which has two steering positions, an operating centre for the sails, a sitting area and two tenders aft. On anchor, when the yacht tenders are launched, a big “party-deck” is provided.

The owners are moving from a motor yacht to a sail yacht, but they didn’t want to sacrifice comfort. For them, accessibility to water sports is an important feature. Therefore, the transom door can open 90 degrees, creating a big swimming platform.

However, in order to enlarge the swimming platform even further, a big portion of the aft deck rises two meters with the help of a hydraulic scissor lift mechanism, creating a huge swimming platform, bigger than the ones that can be found on motor yachts of similar size. On the side, two big aluminium doors conceal jet skis, canoes, and other water toys; when opened, they can be used as additional swimming platforms.

The interior spaces were supplied with big windows for ample daylight and the exterior decks provide plenty leisure space. There are six guest rooms, accommodating 12 guests. For the 7 crew members there are 3 double crew cabins and a captain’s cabin, a spacious crew messroom, adjacent to a well equipped general galley.

Interior Design – Guido de Groot Design

The aft deck offers seating for 12 people and is the perfect area to host a dinner party for many friends. It offers a wide view over the marina or the sunset. The bar at the entrance of the main salon is the perfect spot to enjoy a late night drink or an early espresso. The exterior furniture is made of dark lacquered woods and lacquered teak. Due to its luxurious finishing and trimming it feels as an extension of the interior spaces. Another element that enhances this feeling is the dark lacquered furniture contrasting with the soft white fabric upholstering.

The exterior area and interior area merge seamlessly. The main salon offers various seating and a formal dining area. The wheelhouse has a small seating arrangement for more intimate moments and to enjoy the Extreme yacht while under sail.

The combination of the light oak, the dark lacquered oak, small mirrors, stained floors with white holly and the leather detailing create a carefully composed space. The staircase in the middle of the salon is a beautifully designed eye catcher and a focal point in the design. It divides the dining and main salon from the fitness room. The staircase is nicely lit and gives a great transition to the guest area.

The guest area has not less than six cabins. The two large owners’ cabins at midship have a spacious bathroom and a separate toilet. The bathrooms floors, countertops and sinks are made out of a compound of quartz. The walls are a combination of white lacquered panelling and quartz. The sofa has a small integrated leather top which folds into a vanity desk. The desk is set against an oak wall. This wall is made of small stripes in plain oak and brushed oak. On the opposite wall behind the bed this pattern is repeated in dark lacquered stripes and mirror stripes.

At sea, one has a great look over the ocean through the large windows. Three of the four guest cabins have double beds; the fourth cabin has two single beds. The cabins and bathrooms are finished in the same material selection and they have the same attention to detail as the owners’ cabins. The style in the guest rooms is consistent throughout all rooms.

The sophisticated combination of brushed oak and aniline leather is simple but refined. The indirect light in the ceiling and in the pockets is beautifully reflected by the dark lacquered woods.

The crew area is located in the front. On starboard there is an open crew’s mess which has a large seating arrangement and a small pantry. At port side is the large galley equipped with professional equipment. Forward are four cabins with eight bunk beds. Although space is restricted, each cabin has its own bathroom.
