Jongert´s new range of sailing and motor yachts represents state-of-the-art design with innovative solutions featuring space, performance and eco-friendliness.

The first Monaco contract for a 44.6m (146ft) motoryacht has since been extended to 46.4m (152ft) in partnership with the owners’ representative Alex Krykanyuk and Dubois Naval Architecture. Details of the second motoryacht remain secret but her length will be 44.1m (144ft). Both projects are due for completion in 2013.

The Fort Lauderdale contract is for a 34m sailing yacht which will be an extended version of the recently introduced 30m line with a design by renowned German Frers.

In other developments, the 27m (88ft) Jongert sailing yacht Vivid has sailed back to Jongert’s yard in Wieringerwerf after having journeyed the world for the past decade. She is to undergo a major refit in partnership with the Sea-Alliance Group.

Meanwhile, in the south of France, Jongert has now presented a new office in Antibes to offer a more immediate service to its international clients. The office will also become the contact point for sales of pre-used Jongert yachts.

52nd Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show´s results

November 14, 2011

At the 52nd annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), three million square feet of exhibits in-water and on land were available for optimistic exhibitors and motivated buyers. Despite the weather was not that good over the weekend, the show was reported to be the best exhibition in 5 years.

“Overall we are very pleased with how this year’s show turned out,” said Efrem Zimbalist III, CEO of Show Management, the company that produces the show. “There was a strong presence of serious buyers and our exhibitors were ready with great new product and realistic pricing.”

As retail sales begin an upturn, experienced yachtsmen and those looking to enter the market with the purchase of their first yacht cautiously resurfaced as eager and more educated consumers.

“Crowds lined the aisles of the Superyacht Builders and Designers Tent,” said Catalina Bujor, PR/marketing officer with Dockwise Yacht Transport. “We had consistent traffic coming in for quotes and inquiries and we came away from the show with several bookings and valuable leads from all over the world.”

Said Andrew Cohen with YACHTSIGN®, “We met with owners, captains, builders, marina operators and world-class designers who insist upon buying the highest-quality products, one of the many reasons they come to FLIBS.”

This year’s show focused on engaging attendees as well as exhibitors with easy-to-navigate show sites at this best-of boating lifestyle event. Enhancements to the show including the new smartphone app named MyBoatShow, Trawler Port, the SYBAss Pavilion and Captain’s Den all contributed to a well-executed and heavily attended event.

Sean Blue, AVP and director of yachts with Chartis, a global property and casualty insurance provider whose display was among the superyacht builders in the new SYBAss Pavilion, concurred with the positive feedback, adding, “Despite the weather at the show, traffic was good and chatter on the docks was definitely up in terms of buyers in the crowd. This seemed to be across various segments in the industry and yachts of all values. What also seemed to be occurring was a greater collaboration between various businesses to add value to each other’s services and to sell the yachting lifestyle and build a stronger industry.”

Attendees took to the docks at the Bahia Mar, Hall of Fame, Hilton, Sails and Las Olas Marinas rain or shine with many sales reported and offers made.

“I can’t recall a moment during the Show that the Beneteau G.T. booth wasn’t buzzing with buyers examining the new Beneteau Power line-up,” said Bob Denison, co-owner of Dension Yacht Sales, the exclusive Beneteau Power dealer in South Florida. “TrawlerPort benefitted from a steady stream of trawler buyers. The 52 Swift Trawler attracted trawler enthusiasts from all over the world.”

The Broward Convention Center, an extremely popular show location during the wetter moments of the show, also reported quality activity.

“We saw big crowds, especially for the rainy days that we had on the weekend,” said Jim Zimmerman, general manager of Jerry’s Marine Service. “We saw a lot of interest from customers wanting to repower their existing yachts. Owners who are not ready to spend for a new yacht just yet are going to re-power their existing yachts.”

Also heavily attended were the 45 free fishing, diving and boating safety seminars, some with standing room only.

Across six locations more than 1000 yachts were on display in the water and on land, in addition to every type of fishing product imaginable, marine electronics, safety equipment and boating accessories. Also on display were exotic cars, a submarine and a helicopter.

Since it was founded in 2003, SeaNet Fractional Yachts has established a reputation for providing its clients with a unique yacht ownership experience that gives them just the right amount of time aboard their vessel to suit their busy modern lifestyle—along with the comfort of knowing they’ve made a smart financial decision. Fractional yacht ownership offers SeaNet clients the benefits of private yacht ownership at a fraction of the investment.

Until now, SeaNet operated on a regional basis, offering clients fractional ownership in beautifully maintained 60- to 80-foot motor yachts on the U.S. West Coast, in South Florida and other select locations. Now, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the firm announces a major expansion: the new SeaNet International Fleet Program. This innovative program offers discerning clients the opportunity to enjoy the yacht ownership lifestyle in a new Benetti Delfino 93′ motor yacht for a fraction of the new build price—and without the hassle of staffing, maintaining, mooring or servicing their boat. Additionally, SeaNet’s Benetti Fleet will be based in the world’s most popular international cruising destinations, including the Caribbean, Western Med and Eastern Mediterranean, U.S. East Coast and Bahamas, U.S. West Coast and Mexico, providing clients with the opportunity to enjoy a broader yachting experience throughout the year.

Michael Costa, SeaNet Fractional Yachts President and CEO comments.“We chose the new Benetti Class range for our International Fleet Program because these Italian-built yachts offer an incredible combination of style, seaworthiness and space-planning that will maximize our clients’ yacht ownership experience. The 93-foot Delfino feels like a 120-foot yacht,”

The Delfino 93′ motor yacht is able to accommodate 10 to 12 guests in a main-deck master suite and four large guest suites—two of which have Pullmans that are perfect for kids. Her contemporary yet timeless interior styling, which is reminiscent of an upscale beach resort, makes the perfect backdrop for entertaining, spending time with family and friends, or simply relaxing. In addition to an open main-deck living and dining area and an aft deck that’s perfect for alfresco meals overlooking the sea, the Delfino 93′ has a spacious sundeck with a bar, seating, sun pads and even a Jacuzzi.

Built at the Benetti Shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, the Delfino 93′ represents the state of the art of contemporary yacht building. Peace of mind is provided by her BEST (Benetti Exclusive Sea Technology) electric and electronic systems; her CE cat. “A” and RINA C [Maltese Cross] Hull certifications, and her at-anchor yacht stabilization system.

“This is the right yacht to take our program to the next level,” Costa said. “With the Benetti Delfino 93′, located in the world’s most popular cruising grounds, we are able to offer clients a unique experience combining the best of luxury charter and private yacht ownership, for just the amount of time they are able to enjoy it.”

Benetti Yachts

Benetti Yachts

Benetti is one of the world’s oldest builders of megayachts. Founded in Viareggio in 1873 by Lorenzo Benetti, the shipyard started out building wooden, masted barks for local and international commercial purposes, quickly earning its reputation as an industry leader worldwide.

In 1985, Azimut opened a new chapter in Benetti history. The purchase of the Tuscan boatyard signalled a new era of management and capital investment that has made Benetti what it is today: a modern, cutting-edge shipyard ready to meet the challenges of the future, able to offer its owners the world’s most exclusive and refined yachts.

Since then, Benetti’s growth has outpaced that of any other competitor in the sector; it makes over 130 yachts and specialises in the production of semi-custom ranges from 93 to 145 feet as well as completely custom steel and aluminium megayachts of over 45 metres.

In 2003, the Azimut-Benetti Group S.p.A. took over the Cantieri Navali Fratelli Orlando in Livorno, launching a major industrial plan to create a facility specialised in pleasure boating alongside the revitalisation of an urban area and tourist port.

Since 2004 Benetti has been worldwide considered as the leader in mega yacht production. Here are some of the Benetti motor yachts that are currently in charter.

Luxury Explorer yacht Big Fish by Aquos Yachts wins 2 more prestigious yachting awards

November 03, 2011

The 45.00m (147′ 7″) luxury explorer yacht BIG FISH has taken home two more top design honors during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2011, moving her into the rare field of history-making yachts. Superyacht Big Fish now has a trophy case with five coveted yacht awards, an unprecedented achievement as the first launch from her builder, Aquos Yachts.

The first new honor bestowed on the charter yacht Big Fish was a Neptune Award for Best Naval Architecture of all 2010-launched motor yachts. The award was presented Tuesday evening, Oct. 25th at the ShowBoats International Design Awards ceremony, held at the glamorous Mar A Lago resort in Palm Beach. The ShowBoats Design Awards is the longest-running awards program in the luxury yacht industry. These awards are judged by a select panel of industry experts and yacht owners based on a list of nominees presented to the judges by the editors of ShowBoats International.

The second award given to the Big Fish yacht was top honors for the Best Full Displacement motor yacht in the 40 to 60 meter size range, at the SuperYacht Awards. Presented at the annual International Superyacht Society gala Oct. 28th at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, the SuperYacht Awards are selected by a panel of industry experts, and then are voted on by the entire membership of the Society.

In both prizes, the charter yacht Big Fish beat out a large number of other worthy contenders launched last year at many of the industry’s premier yacht builders.

In addition to the ShowBoats International and the International Superyacht Society awards, Big Fish has been honored by Boat International with a Judge’s Commendation at their World Superyacht Awards, and by both Yachts International France and by Asia Pacific Yachting magazines as The Most Innovative Yacht launched in the past year.

“We are thrilled by the reception and recognition of Big Fish by the yachting industry,” said Richard Beattie, owner of Big Fish, and chairman of Aquos Yachts, which commissioned the yacht’s construction at McMullen & Wing Shipyard in Auckland, New Zealand. “These honors, voted on by the leading lights of the super yacht industry, underscore the success of the Aquos Yachts vision, to produce rugged, seaworthy yachts that also offer the very highest standards of contemporary design and technological innovation, while at the same time providing the extraordinary comfort, service, safety and security that today’s yacht owners demand from their boats.”

Beattie added, “These awards truly reflect the efforts and talents of the entire Aquos Yachts team. It’s one thing to say you’re going to design and build a world-class luxury expedition yacht, and it’s another thing entirely to deliver on that claim. These awards prove not only that we captured the imagination of the industry with the vision behind Big Fish, but we delivered on that vision by successfully completing the longest, most difficult shakedown cruise in the history of luxury yachting.”

Only 15 months after her launch, motor yacht Big Fish is now on her second trans-Atlantic crossing and nearing 45,000nm on her own bottom. On her maiden voyage she crossed the Pacific Ocean, transited the Panama Canal twice, chartered in Antarctica, and cruised extensively in Tahiti, the Galapagos, the Amazon, northern Sweden and Norway, and the Caribbean. In the process she has booked more than $2.5M in charter income in addition to entertaining Beattie and his guests for another 7 weeks.

Jim Gilbert, Aquos Yachts’ marketing consultant and former editor-in-chief of ShowBoats International, said Big Fish has played a key role in the current economic revival of the yachting industry. “We first began promoting Big Fish and Aquos Yachts at the very bottom of the recession,” Gilbert said. “The fact that Richard Beattie was willing to invest in developing an important emerging market niche – yachts aimed at a younger, less traditional, and tech-savvy generation of owners – helped stimulate the market and spur interest in new ways to enjoy the ocean.

“As a lifelong student of yachting, I have never witnessed a more ambitious and successful inaugural cruise than that of Big Fish. She was a household name before she launched, and now with her extraordinary media coverage and design honors she has become one of the true legends of yachting.”

Yacht Big Fish is in the Canary Islands on her way to the Antigua Charter Show. She has already booked several weeks of charter for the Caribbean holiday season. In the New Year she will return via the Panama Canal to the South Pacific, where she will spend the winter charter season.

By the time motor Yacht BIG FISH reaches the Canal (for her third transit!) she will have completed more than 45,000nm of cruising on her own bottom, having touched six continents in the process!

Meanwhile, construction on Aquos Hull #2, yacht StarFish, continues to proceed on schedule for a service launch in one year’s time, and delivery in early 2013. Please be on the lookout early next week for a full set of renderings and animation sequence of StarFish.

The nine yachts and items of exhibition equipment were loaded onto one of PSP’s vessels in Southampton and arrived in Port Everglades on October 26, when PSP’s Brian Woods oversaw the unloading.

He said: “It was quite a sight seeing the ship arrive fully loaded with all these amazing yachts – a real tribute to British design and manufacture. The PSP team here felt a very real pride!”

Paul Burgess, from Sunseeker Florida Ltd, said: “PSP always comes through for us, even under tight time frames and schedules. The PSP port team was efficient and professional and unloaded the show boats swiftly and safely. We were even given the chance to be involved in the discharge, giving us the opportunity to view our yachts before they were put in the water.”

As a result of PSP’s successful job it has been commissioned to transport three yachts to Miami for Sunseeker Florida Ltd. in January.

Marine Marketers of America (MMA) presented Jestercom the award during the association’s co-produced luncheon with Boating Writers International held earlier today in the Grandview room of the Bahia Mar Resort during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
