Karpaz Gate Marina hosted the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR)

The 84 sailors competing in the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR) have been recently hosted by the Karpaz Gate Marina (KGM), part of the all-new Karpaz Bay Resort in Northern Cyprus. The annual international rally, which comprises yachting enthusiasts aboard approximately 33 yachts, arrived at KGM for two days at the beginning of this month and were so impressed with the facilities as well as the service that they received that they came back a week later for an additional two days, before continuing their journey around the highlights of the Eastern Mediterranean.

On arrival at the marina a welcoming ceremony was held and rally participants enjoyed cocktails and evening dinner at the marina’s Hemingway’s Restobar, followed by a presentation ceremony. The next day, tours of local attractions were arranged and the highlights visited included the Monastery and Golden Beach in the Dipkarpaz area. Early evening entertainment, with live music, was later enjoyed while a Happy Hour promotion was available to all participants.

During the visit, many vessels took advantage of the local competitive fuel prices and enquired about securing a long-term berth at Karpaz Gate Marina, which is the Eastern Mediterranean’s only luxury marina. Located on the stunning, unspoilt Karpaz Peninsula in the north-eastern tip of Northern Cyprus, it offers 300 berths including 15 berths for super yachts and mega yachts up to a maximum of 60 metres in length. Facilities at the resort now include an extensive 18,000 sqm dry dock with hauling out and over-wintering facilities, mini supermarket, children’s play area, restaurant/bar and gymnasium. A stylish beach club is also due to open in August 2012.

On 5 June, Karpaz Gate Marina, a luxury superyacht marina situated on the fabulous Karpaz Peninsula in the north-eastern tip of Northern Cyprus will once again play host to 80 yachts which are taking part in the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR).

Karpaz Gate Marina will be greeting the participating yachtsmen, and providing all visitors with free berthing as well as access to all the marina’s services including duty-free fuel. This exclusive superyacht marina is also set to host a welcoming party in their honour which will feature a DJ Party until the early hours.

The annual EMYR takes in the delights of the region over the course of 68 days. Starting in Istanbul, the route includes stop-offs at locations spanning three continents and at 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites. The rally will be based at KGM for several days, and concludes at the end of the month after having covered a total of 1641 nautical miles.

This will be the second time that the EMYR has visited Karpaz Gate Marina, and since the first visit in June 2011, the significant progress has been made in the marina with the development of new resort facilities. Now all aspects of the marina, promenade, buildings and dry dock are complete, and more facilities are available to visitors including a gym and mini market.

Karpaz Gate Marina (KGM), part of the newly created Karpaz Bay Resort in Northern Cyprus, will host the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR) yachts. This will be the second time that the superyacht marina team has welcome the annual rally, with around 60 yachts sailing around the highlights of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The yacht owners and guests participating in the rally will arrive at Karpaz Gate Marina on June 5th and will depart on June 6th. During their time at Karpaz, they will have access to all the marina facilities, be provided with designated berthing free of charge, and a welcoming party is being arranged.

Since the rally previously visited the marina in June 2011, the development has moved on significantly. Now all aspects of the marina, promenade, marina buildings and dry dock are complete, and more facilities are available to visitors including a mini supermarket, children’s play area, and gym. The marina is now also an official port of entry to the region, and visitors can take advantage of duty-free fuel. Hauling out and over-wintering facilities at the dry dock are also on offer.

Karpaz Gate Marina (KGM), the new luxury marina in northern Cyprus, is approximately 90% complete and will be launched, on schedule, at the beginning of June. Ahead of its official launch, the marina management team have announced that it will be welcoming yachts which are participating in the Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR) – an annual rally which involves approximately 60 sailing yachts travelling around the highlights of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The yacht owners and guests participating in the rally will be the very first official visitors to the marina. During the stopover at Karpaz Gate Marina they will be offered exclusive access to the facilities, weeks ahead of its official launch. All will be provided with designated berthing free of charge, and entertainment is being arranged including a welcoming party which will be attended by VIPs and local dignitaries.

The build of the marina is in the final stages and when complete, the marina will be the most luxurious in the Eastern Mediterranean. At the current time the marina breakwaters and the main marina elements of dry dock, promenade, and marina buildings are being completed.

Karpaz Gate Marina recently ran an introductory free berth offer which has generated an unprecedented level of interest from sailing and motor-yacht owners from around the world. As a result, approximately 100 berths have now been allocated. All the winners have been informed and they will enjoy complimentary berthing privileges from until 31st March 2012. Two hundred further berths are available at Karpaz Gate Marina with both short-term and long-term availability.

Karpaz Gate Marina is the country’s first-ever luxury marina and is part of the all-new Karpaz Bay Resort (KBR). Located on the stunning KarpazPeninsulain the north-eastern tip of the Turkish Republic of  Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Karpaz Gate Marina has 300 berths available including 12 berths for super yachts and mega yachts up to a maximum of 55 metres in length.

Every detail of the marina has been designed with yacht owners and visitors in mind, and Karpaz will be an attractive destination for day and weekend trips, and where both large and small boats, and long- and short-term visitors, will be equally welcome.  The management has recently announced the addition of a beach club to the facilities, which is set to be open later in the year.

The resort will also include a children’s playground, gym, as well as restaurants, hotel, a mini supermarket and a range of services such as yacht brokerage, ship chandlery, a sailing school, and a diving centre as well as dining facilities. Sea-Alliance Group, the marina management company, has already secured a number of international companies to have a presence at Karpaz Gate Marina, and is currently in negotiations with others who are interested in taking the remaining available spaces within the marina buildings.
