e3 launches new pre-activated DirecTV decoder service for yachts from Antigua

October 10, 2011

Due to the bottleneck in DirecTV decoder activations, caused by hundreds of yachts and superyachts arriving in the Caribbean simultaneously for the yacht charter season, e3 Antigua has launched a new service to combat these delays and frustrations.

Any yacht can either order new, pre-activated DirecTV decoders with 6-month subscriptions, or arrange for existing decoders to be activated on a specific date to coincide with their estimated date of arrival.

New decoders are supplied and activated by e3 Antigua from their office in English Harbour, and can be delivered on board there, or sent to another island if required.

Mark Smith, e3’s Antigua manager, commented: “We have learnt from previous years that it is incredibly frustrating for guests to arrive in the Caribbean and find that the yacht is not set up to receive TV. As result we have launched our new pre-activated service to get the TV service up and running as soon as the yacht arrives”.

Mark went on to stress that clients should be aware that activation may take up to 7 days to arrange after arrival if it is not pre-booked and paid for in advance

e3 Systems opens new base in STP Shipyard Mallorca and launches new Training Facility

September 14, 2011

e3 are pleased to announce the opening of their new base in the recently refurbished RS Global Building inside STP shipyard Mallorca, the Balearics. e3 will retain its head office in Portals Nous but has moved its technical and stores facilities to the new building. e3 joins several other businesses inside STP to offer the super yacht sector a true centre of excellence for refit. The move enables e3’s team of technicians to provide a rapid response to clients inside the yard and makes it easier for captains and crew to drop into the office to discuss their service needs.

Roger Horner, e3’s managing Director commented: “Over the past few years STP’s facilities have been extended and improved. The refurbishment of the RS Global Building has created an ideal environment for us to set up a base within the yard and to be closer to our clients here on Mallorca”.

The move has an added bonus of freeing up space at Head Office and e3 has lost no time in refurbishing this area to create a dedicated training facility. Two years ago e3 recognised the need for training for yacht engineers and started a programme of on-going professional development. The new training area enables the company to respond to the increasing demand for courses and expand the range and number of those delivered.

Roger Horner went on to say “When we first launched our training courses for engineers we were overwhelmed by the demand for places and quickly realised that we needed to expand the facility and programme. We have now done this and are delighted to see that latest training courses are nearly fully booked. “

e3 will be exhibiting at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show and welcomes visitors to their stand QS 89 in the Darse Sud tent.

Under the new arrangement Veritais will now also be supplying VSAT, 3G Europe, GSM and Air time products, plus the full range of e3 IT and data services. The agreement also allows for a two‐way partnership, with Veritais technicians available to provide dockside support to e3 customers.

“It’s a logical move for us, and one really driven by our clients,” said Veritais managing director David Milner. “The border between entertainment and communications systems has been blurring for some time as Internet and satellite TV services increasingly come supplied via the same hardware as voice and data communications. From our perspective the number of requests that we are receiving to specify and fit VSAT and other similar equipment as part of an integrated entertainment / comms system looks set to only grow. This agreement with e3 Systems opens up an invaluable pool of expertise and experience that will ensure that our customers have access to the latest in IT together with an enhanced support network.”

“We’re very pleased to be working with Veritais,” added e3 Systems managing director Roger Horner. “This partnership offers us the opportunity to reach a new cross section of clients and together, the two companies can offer an unrivalled range of products and services. We look forward to a long and productive relationship.”

e3 Systems has an international team based in Mallorca, Spain with additional offices in Malta, Barcelona and Antigua and associate companies in France and Italy. Its partnership network gives additional coverage in locations such as New Zealand, Holland, Germany and the UK.
