CRN and RIVA as part of ‘Finest Art on Water’ exhibition by Christian Jankowski at CCA in Warsaw

June 07, 2013

The CRN shipyard and Riva, two prestigious yachting brands of the Ferretti Group, will be exhibited as part of a selection of works from the Berlin-based artist Christian Jankowski, at an exhibition called Heavyweight History. The display will take place at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Ujazdowski Castle, in Warsaw. Curated by Ewa Gorzadek, ‘The Finest Art on Water’ will be part of the artist’s presentation of pieces created during 1992 – 2012.

Jankowski aims to engage directly with the idea of sales and exchange and the value of luxury goods. The Finest Art on Water is not only a yacht but also an artwork; an exclusive, ready-made art piece that implicates, involves and engages the spectator. According to Jankowski, “The yacht is the perfect sculpture, a perfect self-contained vessel of information. When you see the yachts lined up at Venice it is an exhibition in itself.”

Visitors to the installation will play the part of prospective buyers, as they view the interior and listen to the description of the boat. Jankowski’s work encompasses film, video and performance in which, consciously or subconsciously, viewers become active participants.

Jankowski collaborated with yacht builders CRN, featuring a 68m superyacht, whose exteriors and interiors lines were designed by Officina Italiana Design, and have been produced by the shipyard in the contemporary artwork. The Aquariva Cento, a limited edition boat, also designed by Officina Italiana Design, that is available as a tender for CRN superyachts, will also be sculpturally displayed as part of the installation, simultaneously challenging an art audience and yacht lovers alike.

“Following the success of Frieze in 2011, we are really excited to be showcasing our collaboration once again at Christian Jankowski’s exhibition and to have the opportunity to engage with people in this unique way. Our yachts combine cutting edge technology with stunning designs, premium materials and the finest craftsmanship. This project with Christian Jankowski allows us to work in an environment which transcends a yacht from an object to a piece of art,” comments Luca Boldrini, CRN Sales & Marketing Director.

In a private ceremony, this morning at Ancona, CRN Shipyard launched the megayacht CRN Navetta 43 #08 “Lady Genyr”, 43 metres. The launching was attended by the Owner’s family, the workers and the top management of CRN.

CRN is the Ferretti Group‘s Shipyard specialising in the construction and marketing of fully-custom and semi-custom megayachts made of steel, aluminium and composite material, ranging from 40 to 90 metres.

Lady Genyr superyacht is the eighth megayacht of the successful Navetta 43 line, a valuable result considering  the size of this type of vessel. The first was CRN Navetta 43 #01 motor yacht Emerald Star now renamed to Emotion (delivered in 2007), followed by #02 charter yacht Hana and #03 Rubeccan (2008), #4 charter yacht Sofico (2009), #5 Eviva and #06 Kate (2010) and #07 Lady Trudy superyacht (2011), all megayachts with entirely customized interiors.

Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN S.p.a., claimed “Today’s launching is a further important step for CRN in establishing itself among the top players of international yachting. Just three months from the historic launching of the 80 metre ‘Chopi Chopi’, the largest pleasure vessel ever manufactured by CRN, the eighth Navetta 43 was put to sea. This continuity shows the commitment and the productive capacity of the Shipyard that has shown itself capable of combining innovation and tradition, creating tailor-made products for each Client”.

The megayacht Lady Genyr is a displacement Navetta made of composite material, entirely Made in Italy and the suppliers involved were mainly local, as in all other CRN products.

The external shape and the internal layout of the megayacht were designed by the architects of Studio Zuccon International Project, while CRN Naval Engineering has taken care of the naval project and the architects of the CRN office for Interior design found solutions for the interiors and the furnishing.

The pleasure ship, 43 metres long and 8.6 wide, can comfortably host 10 passengers in five cabins (an Owner’s suite + four VIP cabins) and 9 crew members and it can sail in absolute comfort at a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots, with its 2 Caterpillar C32-C engines. It has a range of about 3,800 miles at 11 knots, therefore, perfectly capable of sailing across the ocean.

With its four decks and hull with bulbous, motor yacht Lady Genyr, when compared to the other megayachts of the Navetta 43 line, has a new layout of the sun deck, characterized by even wider spaces. Among its special features is the internal lift linking the decks, expressly requested by the Owner.

A distinctive feature of this vessel, like on most other ships of the CRN fleet, is the terrace of the Owner’s suite which is set up as a “balcony” with coffee tables and armchairs for breakfast, to be enjoyed while sailing.

In the interior spaces, classic timeless features prevail, giving it a design of sharp elegance.

It is worth noting the large area set up as a fitness area at the stern, equipped with Technogym and Kinesis equipment, practically overlooking the beach by the sea, a distinctive feature of CRN and a true “must have” for the clients, who will be able to experience a unique way of enjoying close contact with the sea, in a very direct manner.

The vessel is also equipped with by “myOlos”, an integrated entertainment, info and domotics system, developed by the partnership among CRN, Videoworks and Intel to obtain on board functionality and a more user-friendly technology. The system allows you to manage easily all the entertainment – including audio and video on demand – air conditioning, video-surveillance, light and curtain control, just by using an iPad.

Once launched, the luxury yacht Lady Genyr will remain at the shipyard for the interiors to be completed: the final delivery to the Owner will take place in July.

Seen for the first time onboard a yacht, the floodable garage on the lower deck is an innovative engineering solution created by the CRN Shipyard. Operated hydraulically, the garage can dry out in 3 minutes and is lit by underwater lights for a dramatic effect. Next to the floating garage, which can also be used as a swimming pool, is the beach club. A stern hatch that turns into a large beach platform by the sea, the beach clubs offers a sunny terrace and allows safe and easy access into the ocean.

Ferretti Group attending leading Chinese luxury and boat shows

April 04, 2013

The Ferretti Group, one of the world top players in the design, building and sale of motor yachts, with an amazing portfolio of some of the most exclusive and prominent brands worldwide, is strengthening its presence on the Asia Pacific market by participating in the most important Chinese luxury and boat shows as one of the key exhibitors, with a choice of the most prominent crafts in its fleet – the symbol of Made in Italy quality as well as craftsmanship.

Thanks to its strategic partnership with Weichai Group, the Ferretti Group is indeed aiming to further expand in the entire Asia Pacific area over the next few years. This is indeed a crucial market for the future growth of the boating industry, particularly as regards Greater China, Thailand, Australia and Singapore. With the specific objective of developing further in this area, the Ferretti Group has decided to establish its subsidiary Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Ltd., based in Hong Kong, and to appoint Mauro Frattesi as Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Ltd.’s Managing Director and Alessandro Tirelli as Sales Manager for this area. In 2013 the Group is also going to set up a strong local team and open a number of sales offices and show rooms in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qindao, Xamien and Sanya.

The Group has undoubtedly been a “pioneer” in the Asia Pacific area, where it has been present since the mid-2010s, when it established a representative and promotion office in Shanghai in charge of development and sales & customer network management, which has employed Chinese staff since 2005. The Group has then widened its activities over the years by developing a dealer network throughout China, capable of offering Owners efficient pre- and after-sale services and a 360-degree assistance thanks to highly qualified personnel.

The CRN brand, which specialises in the production of fully-custom steel and aluminium displacement mega-yachts between 45 and 90 metres in length and a line of 43-metre-long fibreglass displacement hull yachts, organized a press conference in Hong Kong on 27th March to present the brand’s main novelties on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The Ferretti Group also took part in the Hainan Rendez-Vous, a really unmissable event for the world’s leading operators in the luxury sector that has reached its fourth edition.

From 30th March to 2nd April the Group was present at the exclusive Visun Royal Yacht Club in Sanya, in southern China, also thanks to the support of its local dealer, Speedo Marine, and was displaying a selection of six among the leading models in its fleet, including: the new motor yacht Pershing 82’, representing the Pershing brand, one of the most largely appreciated new models of the 2012-2013 nautical season and an absolute premiere for the Asia Pacific market; the Custom Line 112’ superyacht NEXT, representing the Ferretti Custom Line brand, for the first time on display at an Asian boat show; and four yachts representing Ferretti Yachts – Ferretti 570, Ferretti 620, Ferretti 660 and Ferretti 750 yacht.

The Group’s presence at the Hainan Show for the third consecutive year has once more confirmed the strategic role played by this market in the Group’s international growth, the medium/long-term objective being achieving an increasingly balanced presence in the three macro regions EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Americas and APAC (Asia-Pacific) into which its commercial structure is currently divided.

The Ferretti Group will now be in the spotlight at the China International Boat Show in Shanghai, which will be held from 11th to 14th April at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

The last leg in the Group’s “tour” of the leading Chinese events will be the Qingdao International Boat Show, to be held from 23rd to 26th May at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center.

This journey across Greater China is yet another opportunity for the Ferretti Group to present at best its yachts in this region – true masterpieces that are the result of an outstanding production capacity combined with the entirely-Made-in-Italy construction process which has always characterised all Group brands’ models.

“For several years now in China we have been witnessing the development of the so-called ‘Blue Economy’, i.e. the growth of a series of businesses and activities related to the sea, such as the creation of marinas and the building of holiday homes, yacht clubs and, obviously, shipyards and yachts. The Chinese boating market is gaining increasing importance, as also confirmed by the great success of all the main boat shows held in this area,” stated Ferruccio Rossi, Ferretti Group’s CEO.

“Our participation in the Hainan, Shanghai and Qingdao shows is therefore a unique strategic and commercial opportunity for our Group. Indeed, year after year, show after show, we are recording ever-increasing appreciation on the part of local customers for the Ferretti Group’s yachts, which are the ultimate embodiment of the excellence of the Italian boating industry, thanks to constant technological innovation, outstanding performances, a “futuristic” style, and the emotions that these yachts are able to convey. In the light of our already significant achievements and our ambitions for the future, we can only look at this market with well-grounded optimism, as we think this area will offer us interesting growth opportunities over the next few years”.

Italian luxury yacht builder CRN presents itself in Hong Kong

March 27, 2013

The prestigious Italian luxury yacht builder, CRN, part of the Ferretti Group, targets the Eastern markets with determination. As part of this strategy, the shipyard has recently presented itself to the media, hosting a tailor-made event in Hong Kong.

CRN Shipyard in Ancona, Italy

CRN Shipyard in Ancona, Italy

The Ferretti Group shipyard in Ancona, specialized in the manufacturing and marketing of fully custom and semi-custom alluminium or composite mega yachts, ranging from 40 to 90 metres, has decided to present the strategies, results, trends and prospects to the operators of the “Greater China” market, a term which is commonly used to refer to the area that includes China together with Macao and Hong Kong.

For this purpose, CRN organized a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel and Mauro Frattesi, Ferretti Group Apac Managing Director, Lamberto Tacoli, President and CEO of CRN, and Luca Boldrini, Marketing Manager, gave speeches.

The Hong Kong event, which was important for CRN’s development strategies, followed the historic launching of the 80 metre CRN 129 motor yacht Chopi Chopi held on 12th January, just a few days before the Hainan Rendez Vous (30th March – 2nd April), the great international event dedicated to luxury, which has gained more and more importance over the years, and in which CRN will participate together with the Ferretti Group to meet clients and brokers.

During the press conference, President Tacoli presented the company’s situation, starting from the recent launching of the superyacht Chopi Chopi, the largest megayacht manufactured by the shipyard, which was launched in Ancona on 12th January after an event that was open to the city and attended by 4000 people.

Tacoli mentioned that CRN celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013, an important milestone which confirms the tradition and stability of the shipyard, which in the past experienced difficult moments and which operates within a complex market, sometimes turbulent, and which has even seen some brands disappear.

The Marketing Manager of CRN, Luca Boldrini, highlighted the importance of completely customized productions, adaptability and the novelties of the new yachts, emphasizing the different external lines constantly proposed by the ship owners and researched in collaboration with the most important international yacht designer firms.

CRN is well-established among the international shipbuilding elite, and records confirm its vitality: in fact, in the shipyard of Ancona 7 yachts of the CRN brand are being manufactured: six steel and aluminum megayachts –CRN 125 60 m luxury yacht J’Ade, launched in November 2012 and which will be delivered to the ship owner in April, CRN 129 80 m mega yacht Chopi Chopi, launched on 12th January and which will be delivered in May, 74m superyacht CRN 131 (all designed by Zuccon International Project), CRN 132 73 m (designed by Omega Architects), CRN 133 60 m (designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design), CRN 134 55 m (designed by Nuvolari & Lenard) – and a 43m CRN Navetta 43 made of composite, also designed by Zuccon International Project.

Among other things, the 60 metre superyacht J’Ade continues to have the success of the previous megayachts which have a 10.2 metre wide platform, and that has led to the manufacturing of important ships in the history of CRN, namely, charter yacht Ability, charter yacht Maraya, Romance, superyacht Blue Eyes, motor yacht Mimtee and luxury yacht Darlings Danama, but with design and technological innovations that make then unique.

Together with these CRN ships, in the shipyard of Ancona five maxiyachts of the Custom Line brand are being built (two CL 124’, two CL Navetta 33 Crescendo and the CL 112’ yacht Next) and the Riva 122’ superyacht Mythos made of aluminum, all of which are being manufactured. This is an impressive number of yachts, especially when their size and prestige is taken into consideration.

CRN is the world-bearer of the Made in Italy, which represents excellence, fusing creativity, design, technology and craftsmanship in single products, and is always tailor-made to the ship owners.

Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN said
: “This is an important moment for the development of our business, because it allows us to reach a market area that is very important for us, especially in the long term. We would like to emphasize that the Ferretti Group has already been present in this region for a long time, it opened an office in Shanghai over 8 years ago and it has a network of competent and trustworthy distributors. It is obvious that China has been an attractive market so far, but it will be more so in the coming years, when the yachting culture will have spread even more. We know that we need to be patient to see significant results.”

“CRN looks ahead to the next events, such as the 50th anniversary and two more launchings this season, a 60 metre and 43 metre, and above all the Monaco Yacht Show in September, where we will present the finished and equipped Chopi Chopi and J’Ade: it will be a decisive milestone for us to reach our clientele, which has become international. Besides the whole of the Asia Pacific, the markets that we are targeting are North, South and Central America, Africa, which is slow but emerging, and obviously the Middle East, as we wait for Europe to recover its share,” concluded Tacoli.

Below is a choice of the outstanding charter yachts built by CRN Yachts.

March 22, 2013

The Italian Ferretti Group is currently participating in this year’s Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX), through its dealer Lee Marine, Phuket’s top new yacht dealership & brokerage. Ferretti Group, thanks to the strategic partnership with the Weichai Group – one of the largest manufacturers of high-speed diesel engines in the PRC and a leading company in the power chain market – which acquired a controlling interest in the Group, and under the leadership of newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Ferruccio Rossi, has reorganized its corporate operating structure with a focus on further strengthening its unique brands and its centralized product development and engineering capabilities.

The new organization is focusing on the distinctive individuality of the brands with the product development, manufacturing and brand management teams in Italy focused on the ‘made in Italy’ tradition. This new directive will also implement a more globalized sales, marketing, and service footprint with a localized operating presence in each region, specifically Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA), the Americas and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) area.

In September 2012, the Ferretti Group founded the Ferretti Group APAC Company Ltd, based since last January in the Group’s new Hong Kong offices. Mauro Frattesi – former Chief Technical Office for Ferretti Group – was appointed as new Managing Director Ferretti Group APAC Company Ltd. Alessandro Tirelli, formerly Ferretti Yachts and Mochi Craft band manager, was appointed Sales Director of Ferretti Group APAC Company Ltd.

Clients of Ferretti Group in Asia can now expect a higher level of complete service and unprecedented support from their new Asian based headquarters.

Ferretti Group has rolled out new models, officially launched last September, at the Cannes International Boat Show 2012 and is focusing strongly on the Asia Pacific market from its Hong Kong base, with 10 senior figures from Italy to assist with customers, prospects and dealers in the choice of yachts and in the after-sales phase.

Ferretti Group currently gets about 15 per cent of its sales from Asia-Pacific, with Europe, the Middle East and Africa accounting for 50 per cent and the Americas 35 per cent. Ferretti aims to realign that to one-third in each region by 2018. The APAC region is therefore a significant area for the future growth of the Group’s nautical business.

FERRETTI GROUP AT PIMEX 2013

The Ferretti Group considers PIMEX one of the most important shows in the Asia Pacific region.

”We strongly believe in the Thailand market and in PIMEX for business opportunities,” stated Alessandro Tirelli, Ferretti Group Sales Director Asia Pacific. “ It is a reference point not only for this specific area, but for other markets as well. Today, our Group can count on a strong presence along the coast and in strategic centres with a local sales network.

“Our interest for this area has increased year after year. We are committed to increasing our participation in the main boat shows, nautical events and initiatives in the luxury and lifestyle arena in this region. The Ferretti Group has extended its work over the years in order to be present in a strategic area which is highly promising for pleasure boating and could become the most important in Asia over the next years.”

Lee Marine Managing Director Joshua Lee commented: “Phuket is high on the agenda as Ferretti Group APAC roll out their new strategy. It’s pleasing to have the company back and we are proud and excited about being part of this exciting new area.”

PIMEX is celebrating its 10th anniversary with displays on and off the water featuring exhibitors from China, Korea, Australia and Europe (e.g. Italy and France).

Zuccon presents its new Zuccon Superyacht Design brand

January 30, 2013

The prominent Italian design studio, Zuccon International Project, closed the year 2012 with the November 17 launch of the 60-metre CRN motor yacht “J’Ade”, and started the year 2013 with another new development: the January 12 launch of the 80-metre CRN mega yacht “Chopi Chopi”, in Ancona. “Chopi Chopi” as well as “J’Ade” represent a new Zuccon project: the Zuccon Superyacht Design brand. The company has created this new division to concentrate exclusively on the study and customisation of new maxi yacht projects.

Only weeks after the launch of the 60 metre superyacht J’Ade, Zuccon and CRN are celebrating another success together. On Saturday, January 12, at a big event in Ancona involving the city and the surrounding area as well as the yachting and business communities, they launched the long-awaited 80 metre mega yacht “Chopi Chopi”, CRN hull number 129.

This historic milestone is a source of great satisfaction for the Ferretti Group shipyard and Zuccon International Project (ZIP), for “Chopi Chopi” is the biggest yacht ever built in the Ancona shipyard, and one of the biggest to be made in any Italian shipyard; it is also the biggest maxi yacht Zuccon has designed so far. Last but not least of the studio’s mega yachts, the new 80 m vessel represents the continuation of a long path that has seen Zuccon design numerous large yachts in recent years.

Zuccon International Project began designing maxi yachts with the 46 m yacht Al Fahedi back in 1986, built of steel and aluminium in the Baglietto shipyard in Varazze, followed by various other projects working on yachts of different sizes which have added to the Roman studio’s yacht design experience.

The studio has worked more and more often on projects on this scale in recent years, primarily with the CRN shipyard in Ancona, which has built many of Zuccon’s projects – such as the 60 m superyacht Blu Eyes, the 43 m motor yacht Lady Trudy or the 60 m megayacht Darling’s Danama, to mention only a few of the most recent projects, and is currently working on completion of five superyachts: in addition to the 80 metre Chopi Chopi and the 60 m “J’Ade” (CRN 125), it has the 74 metre yacht CRN 131 and two 43 m semi-displacing yachts under construction.

Implementation of these ambitious projects is the result of a very successful partnership which goes back many years between Zuccon and CRN. Seen in perspective, Zuccon International Project’s strong focus on the “megayacht” segment has even more to say about the studio’s future.

Now that it is working more frequently on big boats, the Roman studio has decided to usher in the year 2013 with the launch of a new brand: Zuccon SuperYacht Design. Zuccon International Project or ZIP already had a division concerned primarily with large yachts, but the establishment of Zuccon SuperYacht Design gives a further boost to this field of work, while maintaining strong ties with the brand’s history, tradition and design heritage.

SYD has a very specific mission putting to work the experience and know-how it has accumulated over decades of work for Italian and international shipyards. The new brand, ZSYD or Zuccon SuperYachtDesign, has a simple structure reflecting two very important values: continuity and innovation.

Zuccon SuperYacht Design will be primarily under the responsibility of the new generation in the studio, Martina and Bernardo Zuccon, the daughter and son of the studio’s founders, architects who have played an active role in the family-run yacht design studio for many years now. The new generation marks the start of a new history, drawing on the traditions of the past and experimentation for the future!
