Nigel Irens Design is thrilled to unveil a pair of the breath-taking new trimaran expedition yachts, designated the ORIGIN 575 and XPLORE 70. Boasting an exciting new style and offering the ultimate experience for the adventurous owner, these unique explorer concepts, with their very impressive, but in essence, simple technology allow rapid ocean passage to remote destinations at reduced operating costs.

Nigel Irens comments: “Having applied what we had learned through the development of offshore racing trimarans to their motor-driven equivalents some 25 years ago it’s exciting to see how successfully that technology has now been passed on to the three OCEAN EAGLE 43 Patrol Vessels produced by CMN. I have had the pleasure of travelling many thousands of miles in powered trimarans and am passionate about sharing that experience with owners who want to be part of this exciting development.”

With a firm emphasis on comfort, speed and ocean crossing capability, the new trimaran configuration is notably more efficient than a conventional monohull at a given speed, leading to improvements in both fuel consumption and range, as well as an amazing level of comfort – even in moderate to rough sea conditions. The vessels can easily reach an impressive maximum speed of 28 knots and have a range of between 4,000 and 5,000 nautical miles at 18 knots.

These true ‘travelling machines’ mix up explorer facilities with superb, understated interior and exterior spaces. This unique capacity to cross oceans at speed and in comfort combines the pleasure of the voyage itself with the excitement of reaching new destinations in such a way that they blend into a single seamless experience.

It has been a great start to 2013 for PURE Superyacht Refit, following the nomination of motor yacht Paramour as a finalist in two of the industry’s most prominent awards: the International Yacht & Aviation Awards as well as the acclaimed World Superyacht Awards. Based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the specialist independent refit management company is also looking forward to the year ahead after concluding 2012 on a high note with the return of a long-standing client, luxury yacht Slipstream, finalist superyacht Paramour, plus five new vessels.

Continuing its success and reaffirming its position in the superyacht refit industry, PURE is proud to have been short-listed as award finalists for both awards following the refit carried out by the team on luxury yacht Paramour. She is an outstanding CMN 43m displacement yacht that undergone an extensive redesign and refurbishment ahead of the 2012 charter season. She was re-launched in May last year.

The refit works carried out by the PURE team, headed up by Nic Clarke, made her one of the most desirable charter yachts in her class due to superior entertainment areas such as the new beach club style sun deck featuring two granite topped bars (one with BBQ), large Spa Pool and dining for twelve, and an extended swim platform. These assets are only normally found on larger, more expensive charter vessels.

During the six months of the project the team at PURE carried out primary works including naval architecture and design, a hull extension, paint works, the design and installation of new sundeck layout, custom stainless steel and granite galley completed with new appliances, furniture and upholstery, and works required for compliance and approval to both Lloyds class and Caymans flag acceptance.

Nic Clarke, owner of PURE, said: “The team at PURE are both delighted and very proud to reach finalist status of the two most envied awards in our industry. We are up against some very stiff competition of some beautiful refits carried out by some of the most successful and reputable shipyards. Even to just reach finalist status is indeed an honour. It’s a great testament to our professional approach to refit projects and to the skills, commitment and effort displayed by our team and recognition of the craftsmanship and value of having a refit carried out by PURE and in Palma de Mallorca.”

Now in its eighth year, the World Superyacht Awards honour the finest new superyacht builds delivered to their owners in the past twelve months and PURE has been short-listed in the ‘Refitted Yacht Award’ category. The winners will be announced on 4 May 2013.

In addition, The International Yacht & Aviation Awards are hosted by design et al, a leading UK interior design magazine. PURE has been short-listed in the Yacht Awards category. The winners will be announced on 19 April 2013.

September 21, 2012

Written by Chelsea Smith

Superyacht builder CMN is partnering with Aircraft manufacturer DAHER-SOCATA at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show to introduce their respective products to visitors: the TBM 850 very fast turboprop aircraft as a transport solution for yacht owners and operators, and the CMN sailing and motor yachts as their maritime dreamships.

The Monaco Yacht Show which is held from September 19-22 in the Principality of Monaco, is an exclusive event that brings together 30,000 international visitors and more than 500 participating companies from the luxury yachting sector. It also provides an opportunity for discussion and exchanges on complimentary areas – such as business aviation.

“CMN’s award-winning super yachts share a common philosophy with DAHERSOCATA’s TBM 850 aircraft in terms of engineering excellence, European style and dedication to customer satisfaction,” commented Nicolas Chabbert, DAHER-SOCATA’s Senior Vice President – Airplane Division. “We welcome this opportunity to make our customers discover the products and capabilities of both our companies.”

“With its sleek lines and superior comfort, the TBM 850 perfectly mirrors the style of our super yachts,” added Cyril Le Sourd, CMN’s Vice-President Sales & Marketing. “This aircraft’s performance and flexibility make it a good solution for the transportation of yacht owners and guest passengers to their port of registry, or to their business destination.”

DAHER-SOCATA’s TBM 850 is the world’s fastest certified single-engine turboprop, with a maximum cruise speed of 320 KTAS at 26,000 ft. (in ISA conditions). As an 850-shp version of DAHER-SOCATA’s proven six-seat TBM 700 turboprop business aircraft, the TBM 850 combines cruise speeds and travel times typical of light jets with the economical direct operating costs of a turboprop, along with superior range and payload capacity.

Since its 2005 launch, the TBM 850 has become an international success – with more than 278 aircraft delivered as of September 10, 2012. The combined TBM 700 and TBM 850 fleet now stands over 600 units worldwide and has exceeded 985,000 flight hours.
