Judges’ Comments:
This and the largest displacement class are the gathering place for larger yachts with less constrained budgets, but these vessels are also similar in style and very comparable in the facilities that they offer their owners. While value for money is a factor in every class it is particularly relevant in classes like this, where seemingly small advances in finish or technology can attract inordinate cost. In this respect all nominees were asked to provide the jury with an approximate replacement cost for the nominated vessel and, where provided, this was taken into serious consideration. Marking was extremely close, with the top two yachts, the 60-metre Lürssen-built Arkley and the 61.8-metre Candyscape II, the first yacht to emerge from the newly established shipyard Viareggio Super Yachts, attracting an equal number of points to be declared joint winners, while a narrow margin of just seven marks divided the next three places. Arkley was particularly admired for her high standards of construction and technical installation and Candyscape II for her external deck areas and interior design, environmental engineering, and value for money, while both yachts scored highly for their practical layouts and excellent service areas.
