The world’s latest exciting superyacht toy ‘Jetovator’ is scheduled for its Australian launch both into and above the water at the upcoming Gold Coast International Marine Expo. The event will run from October 17 to 19, 2014.

The not-for-profit event’s organisers have confirmed that the Jetovator – the new personal water craft accessory that combines the acrobatic aptitudes of an aircraft with simplicity of riding a motorbike – will be featured for the first time in the southern hemisphere at the three-day Expo – Australia’s only “Working Boat Show”.

Richard Gregg from Jetpack Adventures says the Jetovator has already taken the US market by storm and was developed as a result of growing demand for innovative and exciting water sports experiences.

“The Jetovator takes the fun to a whole new level,” says Richard. “It allows almost anyone with a personal water craft to start performing stunts like backflips, barrel roles and corkscrews – they can transform their everyday selves into the superhero they always knew they were born to be!”

The Jetovator – inspired by the thrilling JetPack – works by tapping the thrust of a jetski and redirecting it through 40 feet of hose tethered to a specially made, lightweight and bouyant bike frame. Riders are propelled skyward for aerial antics up to 25 feet above the water, can dive daringly to 10 feet below the surface, or leisurely cruise along at 25mph.

“This cool contraption has never been seen this side of the world so we are very excited about launching the Jetovator at the Gold Coast International Marine Expo,” says Richard.

Already more than 1000 thrill-seekers have seized the chance to “ride the hose”, which comes from the creative minds which also introduced the Seabreacher submersible watercraft.

Gold Coast International Marine Expo event and marketing manager Emma Milne said the Jetovator would be a welcome addition to the exhibition of “all things aquatic” at the Coomera Marine Precinct from October 17-19.

“We expect to surpass last year’s record crowd of 21,000 people because we will have something for everyone including a host of new attractions,” she said.

The Expo brings together everything from kayaks to superyachts, fishing equipment to jetskis and everything else in between in a 3km-long display circuit featuring live attractions and demonstrations every 15 minutes.

Now in its fourth year, the Expo has to date raised more than $50,000 for worthy charities including the Rotary Club of Coomera, Paradise Kids, Sailability Gold Coast and the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Rescue Service.

“Our philosophy is to host an event organised by the marine industry for the marine industry,” said Expo president Patrick Gay AM. “And this year’s Expo promises to be our most successful yet – all of our major drawcards will be back and we have also confirmed a number of world and Australian product launches.

“Exhibitor applications are now open for the 2014 Expo, with display rates being held at 2013 and there will be a new layout to further enhance the Expo experience,” he said.

“We have also moved the date forward a few weeks, in response to feedback from exhibitors and patrons, to take advantage of the slightly cooler weather and to avoid conflict with other major events, including the Ford Lauderdale International Boat Show and the Melbourne Cup.

“Of course this also has the advantage of providing exhibitors with more time to prepare products sold at the Expo for pre-Christmas delivery.”
