The final day 5 of the Antigua Sailing Week 2012 revealed its winners, with Geoff Hill’s Santa Cruz 72 sailing yacht Antipodes winning in CSA 1A. Peter Harrison’s Farr 115 charter yacht Sojana took the third place.

Day 4 of Antigua Sailing Week was another difficult day for competitors, resulting in a large number of incidents as well as a major collision between Oyster 82 superyacht Starry Night of the Caribbean and On Deck’s Farr 65 sailing yacht Spirit of Isis. Tomorrow´s last day of racing will be crucial.

There was an incident this morning on Day 4 of Antigua Sailing Week between the Farr 65 yacht Spirit of Isis belonging to Ondeck team and the Oyster 82 sailing yacht Starry Night of the Caribbean. Fortunately, the incident caused just minor injuries.

Day 3 of this year´s Antigua Sailing Week brought another day of big breeze for competitors of this famous Caribbean race. Farr 115 luxury charter yacht Sojana was beaten today by Santa Cruz 72 sailing yacht Antipodes by less than a minute.

April 28 brought very difficult weather conditions for sailors competing in the 2012 Yachting World Round Antigua Race. Due to strong winds, there were several retirements, including Allyn Salomon’s Beneteau Oceanis 473 sailing yacht Hermosita as well as South African Jan Rupert entry, Tripp 75 Blackbird yacht. Farr 115 charter yacht Sojana has received the Yachting World Trophy for the fastest monohull around the course, finishing the race in 4 hours, 50 mins and 46 seconds.

Antigua Sailing Week 2012: The forecasted big breeze arrives

Strong winds arrived today in the fabulous Caribbean yacht charter location – Antigua – playing host to this year´s Antigua Sailing Week. Today´s Guadeloupe to Antigua Race has been won by Verlarde’s NM92 sailing yacht Locura, followed by Stephen Schmidt’s Santa Cruz 70 yacht Hotel California Too, taking second place and the Dufour 45 yacht Triskell placing 3rd. Ross Applebey’s Oyster 48 yacht Scarlet Oyster has won the Racing Division of the ARC.

One of the best Caribbean yacht charter destinations – Antigua – will play host to the Yachting World Round Antigua Race, starting this Saturday 28 April. The 43 spectacular vessels competing in this popular race include the 63ft trimaran yacht Paradox, the Farr 115 charter yacht Sojana, as well as the Tripp 75 yacht Blackbird.

The crew of Club Swan 42 sailing yacht Arethusa came away from the 2011 Antigua Sailing Week as the champions of the Swan Caribbean Challenge following their impressive win in Class 3. The Club Swan 42 was entered by Phillip Lotz, of the USA and also gained the title of Best American Yacht. Yacht Arethusa won the class by a fair margin; the Club Swan 42 registered three race wins across the five days of racing and not once faltered out of the top three.
