Pendennis Palma superyacht refit facility enjoys a very successful first year

Following its official launch in July 2011, Pendennis Palma, a new Pendennis facility situated at STP in Palma de Mallorca, has enjoyed a busy year. This successful refit facility has already worked on more than 10 refits, comprising the Pendennis built charter yacht Nostromo, as well as the 38m Jongert sailing yacht Gloria and the Perini Navi charter yacht Andromeda La Dea.

Her Captain, Mac Auwer, expressed the value of this convenient refit base for their Mediterranean season “Following the early 2011 refit at the Falmouth facility the new Palma base provided continuity of quality craftsmanship and professionalism that we have come to expect from Pendennis.”

The Pendennis Palma facility offers the same level of service and quality expected from the Falmouth shipyard. With this level of international support the Palma facility is able to offer continuity in customer support and quality that has become synonymous with the Pendennis brand.

This reputation has ensured that Pendennis Palma has a busy order book confirmed for the 2012/13 winter season. The 1928 classic motor yacht Fair Lady will be based at Pendennis Palma from October. The vessel is a familiar visitor to the Pendennis Falmouth facility, having had refit work completed there in 1996, 2000 and 2006. This autumn she will undergo a five-month schedule of works with the main focus being on a the MCA LY1 five year survey, involving a large quantity of engineering projects running alongside a full paint job and a general maintenance program.

Other upcoming projects include the Pendennis built catamaran yacht Hemisphere who will visit Palma as part of her routine maintenance schedule, with lxuury yacht Andromeda La Dea and superyacht Altair also confirmed. Although sailing yacht Adela had minor maintenance work completed at this facility in 2011 this winter she will see her first Palma haul out. Pendennis Palma is also delighted to welcome luxury yacht Va Bene as a follow up to the major refit that she underwent in the Falmouth yard in 2008.

This invaluable refit resource in Palma is headed by experienced project managers and supported by a core crew of technical experts that have the backing of Pendennis’ experience of 200+ refits and over 30 new builds. The busy order book is testament to the value of a Mediterranean base in enhancing Pendennis’ long term support network throughout Europe.
