OceanScape Yachts announces collaboration with YachtAid Global in its ongoing mission to provide aid through luxury yachts. The much-lauded charity involves luxury yachts cruising remote areas to deliver aid, school supplies and additional support to local people.

Committing to support the charity on an ongoing basis, OceanScape Yacht’s Todd Beechey says it’s an initiative the company is thrilled to be a part of.

“I am very excited to announce our partnership with YachtAid Global.  We think that there is a very good fit between the two organizations, where we are both using innovative, new approaches to achieve our goals. YAG is doing great work in terms of providing aid and support to maritime communities where providing that support is logistically challenging. With OceanScape Yachts, I want to share some of our successes with an organization that is having a real impact in an area that is related to the yachting community, and YAG fits that bill perfectly!”

An industry-first crowdfunding campaign soon to be launched by OceanScape Yachts will also benefit YachtAid Global. A percentage of pledges made to the crowdfunding campaign will go to the charity to support its ongoing work.

Launching September 9, OceanScape’s crowdfunding campaign is designed to open up the superyacht industry to a wider audience. Pledges start from $US2, up to $US65,000, and perks range from eBooks of chef’s recipes straight from the galley, to long weekends onboard in the Exumas, and week long superyacht vacations.

OceanScape’s model, with its network of yachts, makes it the perfect partner for YachtAid Global, the mission of which is changing the world without changing course. An international spread of yachts means more locations which can be tapped into when the need for aid arises.

YachtAid Global has helped over 15,000 people with deliveries made to communities in the Alaskan archipelago, Gulfo de Chiriqui, Panama, islands in the Fiji chain, throughout Polynesia, southern Chile, Easter Island, Vanuatu and more.

Because yachts can move nimbly into isolated areas that are typically unreachable by the bigger ships of relief organizations, YachtAid Global has also become adept at providing disaster relief, delivering aid to tsunami-struck Robinson Crusoe Island. The tiny speck of land off the coast of Chile had its seaside village largely destroyed and due to the remoteness of the village, aid was difficult to get to the island.

The entirely volunteer-run and funded organization is planning another fifteen deliveries during 2013 and 2014.

OceanScape Yachts is thrilled to be able to contribute to the good works that YachtAid Global carries out and is looking forward to helping even further through its crowd funding campaign.
