The 2017 Monaco Yacht Show had come to an end, leaving all of us who attended with bittersweet feelings. Walking endless miles each day amongst some of the most beautiful yachts, you could see that everyone was busy showcasing their latest products, designs and ideas to the world. Builders, designers, brokers, organisations, product suppliers, yachting destinations and tourism boards gathered for four days of beautiful sunshine meeting old friends and creating new contacts. One of the builders that really stood out at this year’s show (and not only this year’s) was FEADSHIP – an iconic company renowned for the unique and completely custom-built superyachts, recognisable all over the world.

This year, Feadship was displaying two amazing vessels from heir fleet – AQUARIUS and HURRICANE RUN, their latest Feadship Future Concept called CHOICE and had the imposing 2016-launched 96m mega yacht FAITH model on display at the booth. We’ve also seen M/Y SAVANNAH and MADAME GU instantly recognisable out at anchor.

So, how I got to design my very own superyacht? Well, not really, but I’ve got to live the dream for a short moment. Usually, the design and build process details are known only to the lucky few that work on the project, but this year Feadship has given us, ‘simple mortals’ the opportunity to get a taste of what it is like to custom design your own yacht. Stopping by, at the Feadship stand, I’ve noticed a very cool large screen with happy visitors designing their very own dream yacht. So, I’ve decided to give it a try. After answering a few questions and choosing the right images that would describe my personality, I was presented with my very own Feadship DNA and concept impressions presentation, which I was even able to name, send to myself via email and share with my friends – see below:
Following my endeavour with cool ‘DNA screen’ I had a quick chat with Feadship’s Marketing Manager, Francis Vermeer, who also showed me another large screen in a private booth at the back of the stand; The Carte Blanche Experience, is where a group of invited guests was able to have an instant live action sketch drawn by one of the company’s designers. The idea behind both of the experiences was to show the visitors and future owners looking to buy a new yacht, what Feadship yachts are truly about and what they represent.

These amazing vessels, are completely unique, designed from scratch, using a blank sheet of paper (or a screen) gradually adding their client’s ideas and moulding them into a final masterpiece. The yachts that come out of the Dutch shipyard represent in their integrity the Owner’s style, dreams, desires, needs and ideas – an aspect that is hard to find anywhere else. Feadship vessels are not only timeless in design but also retain their value over the years. They are highly sought after yachts both on the sales market as well as on the charter market – even though very often they remain for private use only. We look forward to seeing more of these awe-inspiring yachts to cruise our waters.
