Yacht PEGASUS wins BEST REFITTED YACHT at 2010 World Superyacht Awards
Winner: PEGASUS

Yacht Pegasus by Feadship

Length: 52.25m
Builder: Feadship-Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw
Naval Architect: De Voogt Naval Architects
Interior Designer: Chester Jones / Koninklijke De Vries Makkum

Judges’ Comments:
All of the six finalists in this class had undergone significant work, however the judges selected Pegasus, originally launched from Feadship in 1995 as White Rabbit, as the worthy Neptune winner on account of the massive changes introduced during her refit, together with the extent and quality of the work carried out by Feadship-De Vries at their Makkum shipyard. Originally built for a Singaporean and customised to the needs of a Far-Eastern lifestyle, she was lengthened by almost three metres to 52.25-metres during the refit with the addition of a new transom that incorporates a lower deck ‘beach club’, a stern hatch and a side boarding platform. The bridge and sun decks were also extended and redesigned to create the outside living areas so important for a Mediterranean-based yacht. At the same time her interior was completely refurbished with new ceilings, teak floors, panelling, furniture and rugs by the interior designer Chester Jones, who also incorporated the owner’s taste for shagreen and stainless steel trims. This has created a warm contemporary and stylish atmosphere, to which was added the latest entertainment systems and lighting. Remarkably, the whole refit was carried out in just 10 months.
