PR: This December, traditional luxury sailing yacht Dunia Baru will be making her second trip from her home cruising grounds of Indonesia to the archipelagos of Myanmar (Burma). Having first visited in March earlier this year, feedback from owners and charter guests was such that a return trip to spend more time in this fascinating and remote part of the world was an easy decision.

A chain of over 800 ruggedly beautiful islands, Myanmar’s Mergui archipelago is largely unspoilt, having only opened up to tourists in 1997. The breathtaking diversity of flora and fauna on the islands make this area a nature-lovers paradise. Many of the islands are covered in thick tropical rain forests, with deserted white sand beaches sweeping into turquoise waters, while below the water, reefs and sea life thrive. The only people who live in the area are the Moken, fishing and free-diving sea gypsies who spend most of their life on water.

As a fully-equipped dive boat, 51m Phinisi Dunia Baru is the ideal floating luxury base from which to explore beneath the waves. The yacht will be returning to Mergui at peak diving season, so guests can expect top conditions and sightings of marine life such as frogfish, grey reef sharks, ribbon eels, cowries, mobula rays, lobsters, ghost pipefish and nurse sharks.

While itineraries can be entirely customised, a Myanmar charter on Dunia Baru can take in anything from the National Park of Lampi Island, with its powder white sand beaches and nomadic Moken tribe, to Cock Comb Island’s heart shaped lagoon or the lush Great Swinton Island and its nearby dive site of Three Islets.

“Our first experience in Myanmar earlier this year was incredible,” says Mark Robba, owner of Dunia Baru. “It
is so beautifully remote, you feel like you are cruising in a lost world. It is what superyachting is meant to be, so we knew we had to come back and explore here again. Being able to see parts of the world like this from the comfort of Dunia Baruis a unique privilege and adventure, and I am excited for new guests to experience this wonderful country onDunia Barutoo.”
