Ferretti Group and Riva attending London Boat Show 2013

January 14, 2013

The Ferretti Group, world’s renowned company specializing in the design, building as well as sale of motoryachts, with a unique portfolio of the most exclusive and prominent brands in the nautical world, continues with its busy programme participating in the most important international boat shows, by displaying one of Riva’s latest models, Iseo yacht tender at the London Boat Show 2013, with its local dealer Ventura. The historical Sebino shipyard has just celebrated its 170th anniversary.

Riva Iseo superyacht tender

Riva Iseo superyacht tender

Riva Iseo superyacht tender, fruit of the working relationship between Officina Italiana Design, which exclusively designs all the yachts in the Riva range, and AYTD – Advanced Yacht Technology and Design – the Ferretti Group’s research, nautical development and design centre has been devised as a yacht to enjoy wherever owners want, and whose strong points are elegance and ease of transportation. The standard version of the boat has been kitted out with a trailer for towing the boat behind a vehicle to a lake or the sea.

In just 27 feet, Iseo yacht tender ‘concentrates’ the perfection and style which have made Riva into a true icon of glamour and timeless elegance. The soft, clean lines, a careful study carried out on the volumes, the unique distinctive attention paid to detail and use of the most sophisticated materials are the characteristics make the Iseo the noble heir to a centuries-old history of excellence and artisan skill. A tie with the past attested by the extensive use of mahogany, symbol of the Riva brand, beautifully crafted, as per tradition, and painted with twenty coats of paint of which ten applied by brush and ten sprayed on.

Each and every detail of the Iseo yacht tender was carefully designed, guaranteeing comfort and a high performance. The standard diesel version features a Yanmar 6BY2 260mph engine and Yanmar ZT 370 duoprop stern drive, which push the yacht to a top speed of 36 knots. Alternatively, the optional version features a Yanmar 8LV 320mph engine and Yanmar ZT 370 duoprop stern drive, with a top speed of 40 knots. The petrol version of the Iseo features a Mercruiser 377 DTS MAG 320mph V8 engine and Bravo Three stern drive which pushes the yacht to a top speed of 41 knots. Iseo will also be available with a hybrid engine.

The Italian-made excellence of the entire Ferretti Group is also a leading figure at Stand A220 in association with long-term English dealer Ventura, where visitors are able to admire 1:30 scale models of some of the most important yachts of the other Group brands, including Custom Line 100’, superyacht Ferretti 800, Pershing 115’, Riva 86’ yacht Domino and Riva 63’ Virtus, luxury yacht Pershing 82’ and Mochi Craft Dolphin 74’ Cruiser.

Windy 26 Kharma weekender nominated for the 2013 ‘Motor Boat of the Year Awards’

January 08, 2013

Constructed by the Scandinavian boat manufacturer Windy Boats, the splendid Windy 26 Kharma boat has been nominated for the ‘2013 Motor Boat of the Year Awards’. The Windy 26 Kharma is a lovely weekender that mixes up extraordinary performance with luxurious as well as versatile on–board living.

The 26 Karma has been selected for ‘Best New Boat’ in the ‘Performance & Superboat’ category. The winner will be announced at the 2013 London International Boat Show (12-20 January).

A successor to the much-lauded 25 Mirage, the 26 Kharma boasts the same superlative deep-vee hull, high performance, and razor sharp handling. However, thanks to new resin-infusion build techniques, the new model delivers more boat for the same weight than its predecessor.

The key to the entire Kharma concept is in its superb cockpit canopy design, described by one experienced magazine editor as “the easiest system I have ever seen.” As Ben Toogood of UK Windy dealer Berthon explains: “It only takes a few minutes to put the canopy up – you raise the engine hatch and out it comes. It means that you can instantly turn the cockpit into a dry, comfortable living space – somewhere you can spend a lot more time.”

As well as folding table and practical seating, the cockpit features a drawer fridge under the helm seat and a concealed sink on the port side. Further adding to the boat’s versatility is the upholstered back rest which can be placed forward or aft, creating a thwartships sofa with sunbed behind, or a more sociable sunlounging spot enclosed within the cockpit seating area.

Down below, the Windy 26 Kharma boat has one large and luxurious double berth, with a sea-toilet installed centrally under a strut-supported hatch.

The Kharma comes with an impressive range of engine options, both petrol and diesel, up to a maximum of 600hp which give it a top speed considerably in excess of 40 knots.

Windy 26 Kharma Statistics:

Length overall 7.88m (25ft 10in)

Ben Ainslie’s new Scorpion Serket 98 tender to be unveiled at London Boat Show 2013

January 03, 2013

Ben Ainslie will launch his new Scorpion Serket 98 yacht tender at the upcoming London International Boat Show on stand number F505 at 12:30pm on Saturday 12th January.  The all-new Scorpion Serket 98 is a splendid chase boat destined for the America’s Cup World Series Events in 2013.

Scorpion RIBs are the official supplier of RIBs to the J.P. Morgan BAR America’s Cup World Series team. The new Scorpion Serket 98 RIB tender will be joining the team for events in Naples in April and yet to be announced American venue in May 2013. Ben Ainslie will unveil the new boat on Scorpion’s stand at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show on 12th January 2013.

J.P. Morgan BAR team competed in San Francisco in September and October 2012 and already have the support of the Scorpion Serket 88 yacht tender. The speed of the America’s Cup World Series 45ft Multi hulls and the troubled waters of San Francisco Bay require a RIB which is sure footed, comfortable and dry in the demanding conditions. Scorpions are designed and built with these conditions in mind and are therefore perfectly suited for the job.

The Scorpion Serket 98 yacht tender is built to match Ben Ainslie’s racing boat. It is fitted with four Ullman seats which are the world’s leading suspension seat and a pair of 300hp engines, capable of reaching almost 60 knots. It has steps forward of the console for easy transfer of guests to and from the race boat.

Ben Ainslie, who recently retired from Olympic Sailing as the most successful Olympic sailor, has now set his sights on winning the America’s Cup for Britain.

Patrick Byrne, owner of Scorpion commented
: “We are very pleased to be working with Ben, it is a natural fit, Scorpion’s are British; based in Lymington; considered to be one of the best RIBs in the world and hold more world endurance records than any other boat in its class, the best for the best.”

Riva Iseo yacht tender on display at the foot of Mont Blanc

December 31, 2012

Riva is currently adding to the festive spirit at Courmayeur, a charming place situated at the foot of Mont Blanc. On display until 7 January, the 27-foot Iseo yacht tender, one of the Italian yard’s most successful models, is being showcased in front of the Grand Hotel Royal and Golf. There is also a photographic exhibition dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the Riva Shipyard, open to visitors in the nearby Torre Malluquin.

Riva Iseo yacht tender

Riva, a trademark of the Ferretti Group, concludes its celebrations for its 170th anniversary this year by “disembarking” with its unmistakable style at a location in the heart of the Alps at 1,224 metres above sea-level.

The destination chosen to close a year of success is Courmayeur, one of the best-loved tourist centres for the beauty of its ski slopes and for the unmatched panorama offered by Europe’s highest peak, Mont Blanc.

This unique setting provides the backdrop for Riva on Ice, taking place between 20th December and 7th January 2013. The Riva’s 27-foot Iseo yacht tender, characterised by elegant lines, cutting-edge technology and great functionality, as it can be placed on a road trailer, is the protagonist in via Roma, right at the heart of Courmayeur, in front of the Grand Hotel Royal e Golf, the oldest hotel of the valley.

There is also an exhibition within the old Malluquin, a unique and historic setting, presenting the eventful history of the 170 years of the Italian firm since the boatyard’s foundation at Sarnico on the Lago d’Iseo, and today one of the symbols of Italian-made quality around the world. Its history is dotted with successes, made possible by continuous technological research, by sophisticated design and by an ability to combine past, present and future within a single concept of excellence.

“With Riva on Ice, we intend to inaugurate a series of appointments that will see us the protagonists each year in the most exclusive mountain resorts”, comments Paola Procopio, Riva’s brand manager. “For this first event, which closes the year’s celebrations for the 170th anniversary, we have decided to take ISEO to Courmayeur, as this model is representative of a history that is continually renewing and evolving. This jewel of boatbuilding encloses within it all the values characterising Riva’s DNA – uniqueness, elegance and the greatest attention to detail – while looking to the future with technology that is increasingly at the cutting edge”.

The result of a collaborative effort between Officina Italiana Design, the studio that works on exclusive designs for the Riva range, AYTD – Advanced Yacht Technology and Design – the Ferretti Group’s naval architecture and research centre – and the team of architects and designers from the Centro Stile Ferretti Group, the ISEO yacht tender is planned as a boat that can be “lived” by the owner wherever he wants.

Soft and clean lines together with a careful study of the spaces, plus unique attention for the details and the use of the most sophisticated materials, make the Iseo yacht tender the noble heir to a century-old history, marked by excellence and the highest craftsmanship. And if the bond with the past is witnessed by the generous use of finely worked mahogany, the emblem of the Riva trademark, Iseo also looks to the future by responding to the growing demand for infotainment on board: it is the first vessel of its kind to be fitted with an entertainment system and GPS charts based on the Apple iPad platform.

The Iseo yacht tender and the Riva on Ice exhibition can be visited by appointment only, at the Riva corner in the Grand Hotel Royal e Golf, or by writing to rivaonice@riva-yacht.com.

Windy Boats’ new Windy 29 Coho sportsboat

December 27, 2012

Windy Boats introduce their new Windy 29 Coho sportsboat, offering great handling, cool good looks and superbly versatile cockpit. Windy 29 Coho is ready to take the market by storm, appearing for the first time at the 2013 Düsseldorf Boat Show, taking place from 19th to 27th January, 2013.

Windy 29 Coho sportsboat

Windy 29 Coho sportsboat

The new 29 Coho sportsboat reaffirms Windy’s new focus on core brand values, with a pared-down, classic profile, a rapiersharp deep-vee hull designed by Hans-Jørgen Johnsen, and a blistering top speed of over 45 knots. Replacing the popular and long-serving 28 Ghibli in the shipyard’s model range, the new 29 features an extended hull and lengthened bathing platform, with a new cockpit layout that emphasises outdoor living and relaxation. Large rhomboid windows in the topsides let in lots of light down below, where the upgraded accommodation centres on a large, luxuriously finished double berth forward, with a practical head and shower compartment, and a useful and well-equipped galley area by the companionway.

Along with the new 26 Kharma and 31 Zonda, the 29 Coho features Windy’s ingenious new canopy design, which can be easily put up by one person in just a few minutes, and is completely hidden when stowed. “It makes such a difference over conventional canopies,” says Ben Toogood, of UK Windy dealer Berthon. “We’ve even had owners of the 28 Ghibli saying that the canopy alone is enough to justify trading up to the 29.”

Like many of its stablemates this new Windy model is named in honour of a wind – in this case the cold airstream that blasts down the Columbia River valley in Oregon, which is in turn named after the legendary silver-sided Pacific salmon. The aptly-named Coho is available with single or twin, petrol or diesel sterndrive installations.

The Windy 29 Coho can be seen on the Windy Boats stand (5E20) at the 2013 Düsseldorf Boat Show (19-27 January) alongside the Windy 26 Kharma, the Windy SR26 Tender, the Windy 31 Zonda, the Windy 40 Maestro and the Windy 45 Chinook.
