“Our clients want to go to exciting new destinations with less established superyacht infrastructure, and they want to have more fun with larger tenders, larger helicopters and submersibles,” comments DAMEN Product Director Mark Vermeulen. “They also want to take more staff, guides, pilots and security personnel with them. GAME CHANGER is the massive leap forward in capability that they need, but at a much lower cost than a larger yacht. Plus, they get all the benefits of flexible operations and privacy. That’s why we call it the Smart Stretch.”

GAME CHANGER is a perfect option for owners who want to explore more remote destinations. The vessel features a fully certified helideck, allowing longer flights to the mother yachts or various locations. The great benefit of the helicopter hangar is the protection from the elements, so it is refuelled and available for take-off without causing disruption and noise on the mother yacht.

DAMEN is proud to announce the sale of 55m/181ft FAST & FURIOUS. This amazing support vessel was presented earlier this year at various yachting events, and gained of a lot popularity. The success of the Yacht Support range adds to the shipbuilder’s leadership the support vessel market.

Fast & Furious

DAMEN Product Director Yacht Support, Mark Vermeulen, mentioned that DAMEN found a great opportunity in the market by providing clients with a solution of carrying larger toys and helicopters without a need for having a larger yacht, but instead owning a yacht support vessel.

Fast & Furious is characterised by high performance, speed and reliability. Fast delivery is another key point in purchasing decisions of the clients, which DAMEN successfully delivers.

There are two projects, which are currently under construction at DAMEN shipyard, the 69-metre YS6911, available from Spring 2017, and the 55-metre YS 5009, which is available from Autumn 2017.

Below is a video of the magnificent Fast & Furious.

After having its first debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016, Fast & Furious, the brand new DAMEN Yacht Support showcase vessel is on its way to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which will be held from 3 to 7 November. Below is the press release by DAMEN Yacht Support.

FAST & FURIOUS to star at FLIBS

The brand new DAMEN Yacht Support showcase vessel FAST & FURIOUS is on its way to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 3 to 7 November. FAST & FURIOUS is the first newly updated 181 ft YS 5009 (55 meters) from the DAMEN Yacht Support range and has just had its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.

For owners looking to boost their superyacht’s capability, partnering with a Yacht Support vessel has become the beautiful solution – fast delivery in as little as a few months, great benefits and value for money that no other solution can match.

“In Monaco the interest in FAST & FURIOUS really exceeded our expectations,” reports Mark Vermeulen, DAMEN Product Director Yacht Support. “We had a lot of very interesting discussions with clients. Although they had heard of GARÇON and the other Yacht Support vessels that we have delivered, coming on board a new, purpose-built YS 5009 at the show really opened their eyes to the benefits of the Yacht Support concept.”

The Yacht Support ‘smart stretch’ to boost the mother yacht’s capability is particularly interesting for the Caribbean. The Yacht Support vessel carries bigger tenders, lots of toys, dive equipment and submersibles and enables safe helicopter operations while the mother yacht can still reach the thousands of secluded, shallow draft anchorages that are off limits to larger yachts.

In Fort Lauderdale DAMEN will be presenting scale models from the updated 142 to 295 ft Yacht Support range (43 to 90 meters) in the dedicated presentation lounge on board FAST & FURIOUS. The showcase vessel is open for all show visitors at Superyacht Life 13.

Since DAMEN and AMELS launched the Yacht Support range in 2009, 9 vessels have been delivered or are in build.

Although FAST & FURIOUS is not available for charter, there is a large variety of luxury yachts for charter that you can find on our website at CharterWorld.com.

Diverse Projects Launch Innovative ATLAS Yacht Support Vessel Concept

September 09, 2015

Written by Eva Belanyiova

With only a few support vessels under 500GT constructed and available on the market, Diverse Projects, from Auckland, New Zealand have created the ATLAS yacht support vessel concept which bring together the most-effective features of support vessels in service.

Atlas Superyacht Support Vessel by Diverse Projects

Atlas Superyacht Support Vessel by Diverse Projects

ATALAS superyacht support vessel concept boasts advanced naval architecture and is ready to be built on request, designed by a team that has previous experience in converting commercial vessels into superyacht support vessels.

We have been very fortunate to see both the benefits and shortcomings of what the incumbent industry can offer. With the knowledge that owners are wishing to push the duration of their voyages to more remote places, while still being able to cater for every possible activity, we started our design process not from a blank sheet but from knowledge of vessels currently in service, says Diverse Projects John Vitali.

Atlas has been penned up upon Divers Projects’ experience of what owners most commonly ask to be added, or removed, from their support vessels. With a hull designed for ultimate steadiness, ATLAS features multiple loading stabilities and is created to be under 500 GT.

After a number of iterations with our chosen design office, which has one of the most efficient hull form databases, and thousands of hours of design work, we firmed on the platform which is now Atlas, continues Diverse Projects Lars Bjorklund.

The Atlas Yacht Support vessel package offers an efficient, stable, DP1, high load carrier with package options to add on modules like heli-decks, large A-frame, tender ramp, submarine garage, media/science containers and other extras often required for support vessels, and the team is ready to start work on an Atlas project immediately. Having been designed specifically for purpose, Atlas will be a very efficient high load carrier of both liquid and deck cargo platforms.

The Diverse Projects team were the project managers who were tasked with the conversion of Damen Sea Axe Umbra into a comprehensive support vessel for 56-metre research yacht Alucia - a vessel which had also been refitted by Diverse Projects. The team is currently converting another Damen Sea Axe; Advantage into a support vessel, and the project, six months in the making, was one Diverse Projects was very pleased to bring to New Zealand shores.

With extensive refit project experience, as well as new construction, the Diverse Projects team has an awareness of the time and cost involved in adding or subtracting elements from an existing vessel. Reducing that time and cost is the driving principle behind Atlas.

The Atlas package is fully customisable according to owner requirements with additional elements that can be added to ensure it fully fits the owner and mothership’s needs.

“It’s a transformer,” Lars Bjorklund finishes. “A purpose-built base boat, stripped down to basics allowing the owner to add the elements needed, to create the most cost-effective, high-yielding support vessel available.”
