GOST Launch GOST Australia

Global Ocean Security Technologies (GOST – formerly Paradox Marine) has launched GOST Australia to distribute its marine security and vessel tracking systems in Australia.

GOST Australia will be headed by Blake Cooper, Managing Director of Queensland-based Atlantis Security. “The GOST security products range meets the needs of the Australian recreational, commercial and maritime communities and exceeds all relevant Australian Quality Standards,” Cooper said. “We look forward to establishing strategic partnerships with installers and distributors with exceptionally high standards and excellent track records for professionalism and customer service,” he added.

GOST Cloak system

GOST Cloak system

One of the new products in the GOST range is the GOST Cloak system. Most property loss occurs in the first initial minutes of a break-in, before police or security teams have had a chance to respond. The GOST Cloak system is designed to provide protection in the critical time gap between onboard alarm activation and the response team’s arrival.

In a matter of seconds, the GOST Cloak system fills the protected vessel interior with an impenetrable cloud of smoke that makes the intruder disoriented and confused and forces them off the vessel until the response team arrives. This prevents damage or loss of property on the vessel.

The fog is created by vaporizing a specially formulated glycol solution. Glycol is classified as a foodstuff and is found in many day-to-day substances such as toothpaste and deodorants. The vapor produced is a dense, white fog which reduces visibility to less than 30 cm, practically no visibility, but which, under normal usage, is harmless to anything aboard a yacht.

Other GOST Products

Left to right: GOST Insight, GOST Nav-Tracker, GOST Marine Magellan, GOST Watch, GOST Acoustic Barrier Powered by Inferno and GOST Immobilizer.

GOST Insight - Wireless security, monitoring, tracking & surveillance cameras can be set to record clips to website on alarm activation and send text & email notifications. DVR will record four cameras for 30 days.

GOST Nav-Tracker - Inmarsat Satellite-based GPS Tracking. Remotely control geo-fence and track your vessel online anywhere in the world using Google Earth interface. This product was awarded a medal by the US Coast Guard for assistance in the recovery of various high profile vessels.

GOST Marine Magellan – Wireless security & monitoring. Call into system from any phone to arm/disarm or control relays. Up to 32 wireless sensors & eight wireless relays. Systems available for any size vessel.

GOST Watch – Surveillance system that can easily add-on to existing cameras onboard, which enables you to view your cameras remotely from your smart phone or computer from anywhere at any time.

GOST Acoustic Barrier powered by Inferno – Functions as a sound barrier or as a traditional siren. GOST Acoustic Barrier effectively stops intruders in their tracks by generating a patented unbearable pattern, frequency and intensity noise. Combine with the GOST Cloak for the ultimate interior vessel protection during initial stages of break in.

GOST Immobilizer – The new GOST Immobilizer is a simple yet effective device for protecting tenders, outboard boats, or Jet Skis from theft. The system is controlled via key fob and when armed will prevent the engine from starting. It allows a low amount of current draw through the GOST Immobilizer to power things like stereo memory and other low power consumption components. When armed, it blocks high current draw from the battery as the starter is engaged. When someone is attempting to start the vessel, it will not start and the siren will sound for a predetermined set time.

Visitors attending the event in the Catalan city expressed a special interest in the HNOS Berga stand which was showcasing a total of nine yachts from the Azimut and Atlantis range, six of which were being presented for the first time on the Iberian peninsular. Particularly popular was the Azimut 48, which boasts one of the most spacious and well-equipped flybridges in its category, as were the three new Atlantis models: Verve 36, 40 and 48, perfect examples of the grit and dynamism that characterize the most sporty brand in the Group.

Ignition sparks at the Barcelona Boat Show indicate ripples of a revival running through the yacht market. A revival that will reward only those companies, like Azimut-Benetti Group, who have chosen to invest in new products, an essential strategy, in order to maintain a competitive and central position on the international horizon.

The board welcomed new Directors Brita Fowler – Glowfast Marine, Brett Vorhauer – Marine Tech Industries Australia and Matthew Johnston – Muir Engineering.

Brita Fowler has been involved in the marine industry for the past five years. As International Business Development Manager for Glowfast Marine, Brita has launched the company onto the international market, developing successful sales and marketing strategy that has seen Glowfast gain international recognition in under two years of export.

Matthew Johnston is General Manager of Muir Engineering Pty Ltd (a founding member of AIMEX). Since his arrival at Muir in 1995 he has been actively involved in all aspects of the business and particularly the exports sales of the business. Keen to grow our export markets, Marine Tech joined AIMEX in 2009 and currently exports to NZ, China and the UK. Brett is also the owner and Managing Director of Rae-Line Pty Ltd, a long term supplier of soft trim products to the heavy transport industry.

AIMEX President Alistair Murray presented the Presidents report to the board during the AGM, highlighting the strength of the organization despite the tough climate and the many benefits members reap from the organisation.

“It is with a great deal of pride that I present this report with AIMEX in such a strong position to go into 2011”

“Despite the industry experiencing what has undoubtedly been the toughest three year period of my career AIMEX membership continues to go from strength to strength.  Boat building worldwide has been particularly hard hit, and to compound this the Aussie dollar is trading at a level that is seriously challenging all exports. It is in trying times like this that an association such as AIMEX is most important.  It brings Australian companies together to share experiences and to share advice.  This experience and advice from all sectors of our industry is necessary to enable us all to improve our products, our production techniques, our management systems, our customer service and our marketing, which continue to enable us to take on the world.  It is this sharing of knowledge and the spirit of cooperation, the looking out for each other and the willingness to help fellow members that makes AIMEX very special.”

With a busy agenda in 2011 and many exciting new initiatives set to grow the global profile of the Australian Marine Industry AIMEX are really looking forward to yet another productive and successful year.

The tradition is now well established: the World Yacht Racing Forum, co-located with the Yacht Racing Design and Technology Symposium and the International Superyacht Coatings Conference will, once again, conclude the 2010 yacht racing season.

Following the success of the first two editions of the event, over 300 delegates and 50 speakers will head to Estoril, Portugal, on December 14-15. Leading industry figures, media and sailing personalities who make international yacht racing, the athletes, event organisers, venues, sponsor and many more will gather and spend two days discussing the current issues affecting the sport, debate solutions and exchange ideas.

As explains Loïck Peyron, the keynote speaker of day two: “The sport of sailing is very broad; the World Yacht Racing Forum has become the place where all the different sides of it are represented and debated.”

The event will start informally on Monday 13 December with a cocktail reception at the Palacio hotel; one of the most charming and historic 5 star hotels within the region. The debates will begin on Tuesday 14 with a keynote address by America’s Cup winner James Spithill, followed by eight plenary sessions split in two days.

This year’s Forum opens up to a number of speakers and panellists from outside of the sport, who will help the audience understand what sailing and yacht racing can learn from other disciplines. As a result, 80 % of the speakers are new. The event also introduces new topics such as sustainability and respect of the environment, brand management and sailing’s future in the Olympic Games; mainly topics that have been chosen by the World Yacht Racing Forum advisory board and delegates from the previous edition of the Forum.

Maritimo to unveil new M48 and M60 Series II Motor yachts at Sanctuary Cove

December 08, 2010

Australia’s premier luxury boat builder, Maritimo, will unveil its sleek new M48 and M60 Series II Motoryachts at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May next year.

The company will also display an enclosed version of its popular Aegean A55.

Taking much of their styling from the second generation M56 Motoryacht launched at the 2009 Sanctuary Cove Show, the new Motoryachts lose the trademark “wings” incorporated into the ‘bridge and feature refreshed interior styling and updated flybridges.

For the first time at Sanctuary Cove, the company will also display its new 440 Offshore Convertible with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion. This new model turned heads when it was launched, with internal staircase, three-sided enclosed ‘bridge and distinctive tri-fold bulkhead doors to the saloon. This pocket rocket also offers three cabins and two bathrooms.

The new style Motoryachts are a continuation of the evolution of the famed line of Maritimos with their safe walk-around decks, internal staircases, large open saloons and aft galleys that set the standard for the industry.

Marketing Director Luke Durman said the updated Motoryachts are a significant step in the evolution of the company.

“We are always looking for ways to innovate and build on the incredible reputation that the company has developed in seven short years,” he said.

“Obviously, we have retained all that is great in the Motoryachts. The bluewater hulls are incredibly efficient even in big seas. The layout of each boat offers maximum use of available space for the comfort of the skipper and family.”

Maritimo will have a total of 10 boats at the 2011 Sanctuary Cove Show, including three Sports Cabriolets, the new Aegean A55 enclosed flybridge as well as three Motoryachts and three Offshore Convertibles.
